This Magic is like in childhood, when I first saw how the picture of a photograph appears on paper)) And endlessly we can observe this process of magical transformation of white paper into art! Great pleasure to watch your art. Thank you Michael!👋👋🧡
Thank you so much great artist great method great teacher lucky to have you in Montréal I am lost and impress the way you paint thank you to share your talent 🥰🙏❤👌 i wish To do portrait like that Thank you thank you Merci
That is a very nice painting! Wow, amazing! I think painting people’s faces is the most difficult subject. You picked a great source photo with those highlights and shadows that help define the shape of the face. Very enjoyable to watch you paint. Thank you, Michael!
Well done for getting to 35k Michael. Your skill and the beautiful image you’ve produced is inspiring. So well presented too. Happy new year from Scotland 🏴
Thank you again Michael. Hoping the new year finds you and your family healthy, safe and warm! The water is freezing instantly on the brush here in Winnipeg! I asked Santa for your brush set for Christmas . 🤨 No luck, so I’m going to treat myself so I can see if your brushes will help me learn your awesome technique! Looking forward to more in your portrait series.
I love the movement of the colours in this wet on wet painting, the freedom of your brushstrokes. Your choice of the colours for your limited palette is so smart! I use ultramarine blue a lot together with Quinacridone sienna and Alizarin crimson in my portrait paintings. But I definitely love your choice of indigo blue. By the way, I paint a lot with your calligraphy brushes and I find them perfect for most of the subjects and styles of painting.
What a wonderful job, thank you very much for sharing❤. Although there are only 4 colors, it is still a challenge to place them correctly. I am looking forward to paint this picture.
Absolutely remarkable! This painting is so vibrant, it sings! Way beyond my capabilities, but I will definitely give it a go! So much to learn. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Thank you Michael for an excellent video tutorial! Perhaps I will also start learning to paint portraits. In any case, thanks to you, right now I am starting to buy: Kobalt Blue, Quinacridone Sienna, Perylene Violet, Indigo, Quinacridone Gold and .... Precisely, these colors were not previously in my Daniel Smith paint palette. Happy New Year to you, Michael!
I'm surprised you can mash your calligraphic brush to achieve the irregular negative space on the hair without damaging (abusing) the brush. I would be hesitant to do that. The treatment of wetting your paper continues to provide me with "aha" moments. I had been unaware of this and simply brushed water on the surface. What a revelation! Your portraits are absolutely exquisite. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the question, Jeanie! I use this board (www.watercoloronline.com/product-page/pvc-foam-watercolor-board-for-full-sheet) at an angle of 5 degrees.
Ho Micheal and thank you for this présent! I have just a technical question: between the first step (wet on wet) and the second, you wet again the paper backside or this is the wet that remain from the first step? Thanks in advance!🌷 Chiara

Don’t you think it’s not polite to comment about pronunciation? How relevant this comment is to the subject of the video? Free video from one of the World known Masters of watercolors - isn’t it enough reason to be grateful for the opportunity?
I originally am from Russia, and learned English as a second language. But TH-cam is large, and I am sure you can find other people that do watercolor painting whose first language is English, if it is that important to you.
Thank you very much, friends! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I am very grateful for your support!

Dear Chiara, the answer is no, it was made in one take, since I wetted the paper and attached it, I did not further involve myself with wetting it
what paper do you use canson,...?😊
Thanks for the question! Now I'm mostly using Baohong Masters' Choice paper.
