Setting a metronome down to around 60 bpm was paramount for me. Making faces and rocking like rainman (I'm also autistic) helped break the apprehension of changing chords in the time allowed.
When I found myself ahead of the metronome or waiting for it, I sped it up. Eventually turning it off and just going as fast as what felt natural.
Before I knew it c chords and f chords were ringing out wonderfully even though they looked like they shouldn't. I was even able to look away during changes.
All this happened over the course of 2 hours. After trying for months without a metronome or guitar face.
All of the tips in the video are certainly effective when used together.
They have helped me practice more effectively and make more gains.

I practiced similar way of Changing Chord's some time ago.! A, C, D, and I practiced for half an hour a day.! I found that I was able to Move my Finger's easily to each Chord, like you have just shown.! I don't know how the Chords Sounded like. As I had to do it quietly because of Nasty Neighbours Complaining.! Anyway, after Practicing this way, without knowing any Song's to play along with these Chord's.! I felt like I had hit a Brick Wall and I couldn't go any further.! But my Self Taught method of Learning Chords, but without any easy Songs to Learn at the same time.! My Method quickly became, Tedious and Very Boring so I eventually gave up.! But as I have been Bitten again by the 'Learn to Play Guitar' Bug again.! So I will be giving it another go.! Thanks for your Video though. Because it will help me as it will Help other Beginning Guitar Students.! Take Care and Stay Safe.! 🎸

Oh, man....you must have been reading my mind. I was playing my chords last night and I went to your channel to find something like this. This lesson works well with your earlier strumming lesson by practicing both changing chords and strumming patterns.
Showing the pathway for the fingers from C to D is a great mental/visualization tool to help execute and perform each finger movement. I am going to apply this method for learning all the chords.
    Thank you Tom! G B Y too!!

Very good stuff once again. Understanding the musical keys, the notes in them (which you have done in your lockdown videos) gives good ideas regarding which notes to switch from based on the notes of those keys. Keep up the good work.

Best tip I learned was to practice the chords without looking at your fingers.

Agree! I find my chord changes more accurate when I don't look at my left hand.
