guys. Put the cards in the box and practice this. It makes it soooooo much less dangerous (no risk of dropping the cards or anything like that) and it's about the same weight
A deceptively difficult flourish! I have my six pack Sybil cut down pat, and yet I struggle to do TG Murphy's deck flip without losing my top or bottom card. Teach me, Asad D:
If you don't want cards flying out every which way try putting a rubber band around them until you get better, then take it off and get used to catching the cards.
I was so impatient to learn that move that I learned it from the few performances you did between the first minute of that video. Index finger is the key.
Make your life a million times easier whilst learning this by putting an elastic band around the deck, once you've mastered the motion of the flip consistently then remove the band!
I'm super new to this whole thing, but what i've noticed is if you don't over-think it, and just keep trying it will work a lot better, It took me about 20 minutes to get it down, but i'm also a total noob to all card tricks / flourishes... and DecksAndContests has helped me learn a wide array of things so thank you! This channel is awesome.
For those having issues with top or bottom cards flying off: I had the same problem. Just practice synchronizing the release of the all the fingers at once. That way no fingers will grace a card and flip it. Start with half a flip to get a good sync and then move on, it worked for me and i was about to give up! :)
I've been putting off learning this flourish for years because it always ended with cards flying everywhere. Now i can flip two packs in such a way that they jump one over the other to switch hands
honestly the best tutorial i've every watched. the thing i find hardest about this is not relaxing, or releasing tension from my index finger underneath.
So here's what helped me prevent the bottom card from flying off the index finger: i changed my initial grip by moving the deck forward slightly basically towards the normal mechanic's grip. Works like a charm now! Thanks
It's actually the other way around. If you are right handed, then hold the deck in your left hand and the deck should flip counter-clockwise. If you are left handed then hold the deck in your right hand and the deck should flip clockwise.
For everyone who said ' or you could put your cards inside the box' he said if you don't have cards on you, You could use your phone. And great tutorial!
Surprisingly, as a novice to card tricks/flourishes, this has been the easiest one to learn by far. Having a brand new deck probably helps a lot (the cards stick together).
Thank u!! got the technique now, just got 2 keep practicing. I manage 2 do it every 2 or 3 turns. I recommend doing this sitting down so all the cards fall on ur lap rather than on the floor lol.
After a decade I have revisted this gem and finally realized why a card or two will fly out from the top. If you release with the thumb much later or never at all while releasing the fingers on the side of the deck, your thumb will retain a card. You have to release the thumb very quickly BEFORE the fingers.
I learned this nice flip and started thinking about an application for some trick. Well I came up with this: you keep a pinky break of a number of cards (1 to 5) and perform the flip. This will cause all the cards to flip except of the ones below the break. And if you do this starting with face up deck you will end up with the bottom cards turned face-up, ready to perform lots of tricks
@Decknique13 This will happen sometimes especially if you are using a brand new deck. Try breaking in the deck and making minor finger position adjustments.
Dude, I watched your tutorial without sound, and I was able to do it right on the first and subsequent tries. Thanks. I'm gonna have to check out your site. I always thought flipping the deck took some advanced technique or something. Thanks again.
If you could get the top card to fly off on its own, then you could incorporate that into the trick when you do the double list to fake putting the top card into the deck, because then their cars flies out. I just think that would be awesome.
thank you very much for this tutorial, just like you said im not into xcm either but i been looking trough crazy cuts stuff to find something i could use and after many non so successfull attempted you made me discover this 1 second flourish. I found that only middle finger and thumb to hold the deck work better for meand only the nail on my index must be used to flick the cards around. the rest seem a question of pressure, i find it easier with a soft touch and low pressure on cards. Thank you!
Ok, I did not heed his warning and I kept practicing even though my index finger started hurting. The next day, there was a black bruise under my index finger nail. So I learned the hard way
This is driving me crazy. I've got it almost perfect but I'm turning the bottom card over because of the technique I use. No doubt I can build that into something but I just want to be able to do this properly!
Thanks for the tutorial.. What I did as an improvement is that i practiced this with a deck wrapped with a rubber band vertically and horizontally :) ... THANKS (Im from the future)... I'v seen your Dan & Dave Molecule Cut Tutorial.. that brought me here...
I tried moving my first finger to the top edge of the deck and doing the flick with my middle finger. It got so much easier! Now instead of half the deck flying in different directions, only one or two do it once in a while.
i learnt the first flip in like 15 min, the problem was that i shouldn't try to flip the cards only using the tension, i just flick with my finger and it went okay, (flicking when my finger is against the cards) THANKS, 52Kards, love your vids btw.
You know what Niv! You're right! He talks waaaay too much. So I've come up with a great idea. Why don't you learn all of his tricks perfectly, start up a TH-cam account, and then you do them all for us in 30 seconds? What a great plan. I'm glad you volunteered.
trying it even just once on your phone or any other card-size rigid object will help understanding the movement a lot quicker! 3 minutes and i can already do it with half the deck... moving on to full deck now
Dude I must be a freaking fast as hell learner cuz right when you told the grip and how to release it I did a full flip and it landed in my hand perfectly and I've been doing wonderfully for like five mins
I was able to do a few half flips and then 1 full flip during this video just fine, as soon as you said "My top card kept flying off" my top card took it as a challenge and went to greet my closet lol
I really do appreciate that you know so much and there is truly something for everyone with your knowledge that you spread, thanks again, Magically Your’s!
"I have a pain at my finger." -"If you wait long enough. It'll go away." "Promise?" "Promise." Great tutotrial in my opnion. I've practised it like 3h now. I can flip like 3/4 of the deck without sending the top card flying. But with full deck it flies off. Which eventually gets me irritated. But it's fun to do though. Thank you for this Vid.
I'm back! A few things. it's hard! 1) I first used the deck in the box. I read thru what SGtot wrote but didn't pay attention, but when I grabbed the deck, I thought the same thing; 2) you said that the top card was coming out... not bad for revealing a chosen card. I think that could be fine; 3) cards tend to fly... I did in bed! 4) I manage in the first 2 minutes a box flip... a box to floor... ☺ then with the opened deck a half flip and more cards around... even a deck flip with top retained
for like two days straight I was trying to flip the deck in the wrong direction. I spent quite a few hours trying to spin it the wrong way. Then I started spinning it the other way by mistake and was like "man that feels way better" I came back and watched this (for the 10th time) and was like "omg its flipping towards his thumb" I can do it pretty good now :D
if the top card always flip use it to reveal a card heres the trick you let a spectator pick any card and put it in the middle somewhere and control it to the top then do the deck flip and it looks like his or her card jump from the middle!!!!!!!!
How important is it to use a new, or newish deck. I find that when I use an old deck, a lot of these techniques don't work as well, or take longer to master.
It depends on the move. The molecule cut is actually easier with and older deck. With a newer deck, sometimes the cards are too slippery and a card will fly out during the flip.
+darkwolf1103 do what i do, use this when revealing someone's card. For example, after placing their card on the bottom and doing a bottom retention shuffle and other false shuffles and cuts you can make that bottom card fly out, catch it in your hand and show the spectator that their card hasnt moved at all.
This is a very excellent tutorial. I thought I came up with this myself, but you are over a year ahead of me. You also do it better than I do. BTW, this can also be done in the other direction.
thank you for this one, you pull this one off soooo smoothly.:)..I remember years ago when i was learning The classic Pass and it drove me crazy!!..for weeks..but now its second nature..so im gonna apply the same amount of practice to this one cause it looks awesome and easy but doing it is really hard.
what is really helping me is to keep a new card deck in the plastic and use that one. this way your cards won't be flying around and you can find out more easily how to hold the deck in order to get the spin right. after this you can try it with a normal set of cards.
Thank you for suggesting starting with a phone. My first attempt was about halfway through the video (juuuust before you said I would have to release the pressure of my thumb, too...), and cards kinda flew. XD
Advice that helped me: Practice with 23 card Elevate a little the deck, like in charlier cut Place your index lower than in the video. Almost in the middle, maybe even lower.
I recommend putting an elastic around the deck, so it stays as one, for training. When you're able to do it with more ease, throw it off, and get used to do it without elastic.
I got the cards to half flip once. And then I just launched them and I swear to God I ended halfway through the sybil cut and was just staring at a mess of cards a second later XD
take the cards out of the box but use a rubber band to keep them together, the best way to improve is with the physical deck in you hand, once you feel like you got the florish down start to practice without the rubber band, hope this helped
What helps with the flip is to cut the deck in half and start with just half, and then once you get half of the deck down, you can just add like another fourth or whatever you feel comfortable with.
omg lol i was trying it while watching you were explaining and the top card would flip off and my finger hurted i was like wow must be doing it right =D
I too get the top card flying out, ambitious card - double lift, "your card" "no" deck flip, card flies out but catch it to reveal the card. (like I meant it to happen) it goes down very well. but I would still like to be able to nail the flip correctly.
is it a problem if my first finger is closer to my thumb and the deck rotates towards my fingers instead, not towards the thumb like it's shown in the video ?
at first all my card went all over the place but i noticed it helps to practice with the cards in the box it has he same weight and the same shape its better than a phone.
This video is a great trick in itself. Without any effort at all, he made my cards repeatedly explode all over the floor
Same. I decided to put all the cards back into the box and just flip the box until I get better. =)
Do you know what time it is? It's time to play 52 card pickup!!! :D
lol crabstickz
hahahah xd
52 Kard pickup*
FTFY!
Yyyeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh
*WHOOP WHOOP!*
guys. Put the cards in the box and practice this. It makes it soooooo much less dangerous (no risk of dropping the cards or anything like that) and it's about the same weight
Wow great tip and also great channel
You sir are my hero
You sir u are a legend
or just put a rubber band around it, so that it feels more like a deck of cards ;)
@@daniel.0815 that's what i'm doing! Using 2 - one top, one bottom.
A deceptively difficult flourish! I have my six pack Sybil cut down pat, and yet I struggle to do TG Murphy's deck flip without losing my top or bottom card. Teach me, Asad D:
Ofc it works with an iphone, it bends as much as playing cards.
If you don't want cards flying out every which way try putting a rubber band around them until you get better, then take it off and get used to catching the cards.
or practice with the cards in the card box
I was so impatient to learn that move that I learned it from the few performances you did between the first minute of that video. Index finger is the key.
3 flips right away first try ...... And 52 pickup
FML!!!! I was trying this walking down the hill and the cards fell every where and my empire deck is scattered all over my neighborhood...

Liam Black or do what im doing? Keep the cards in the box.

this tutorial is insane, never even heard of the flourish before, by the time the video was over, i landed my first one
Learned how to do it with my phone!

thanks for these videos dude legit your the best magic guy i have found and since im only just starting i just wana thank you
My back is ache'n after trying this trick
I just watched 1:15 like 13 times over and over. Still amazed at that sleight of hand skill. O.O
I've now made it 3 times! I usually make 1 or 2 cards fly away. Sometimes I even manage to get the bottom card to come on top of the deck, face up :O
"I have a pain at my finger."

Congrats! I just found a new technique that works perfectly for me :D I just put extra pressure so the deck bends inwards.
for like two days straight I was trying to flip the deck in the wrong direction. I spent quite a few hours trying to spin it the wrong way. Thanks for these awesome tutorials man. Looks like ive got my work cut out for me!
Not a flourisher? I beg to differ Asad because your molecule was flawless! Again great tutorial!
Every freaking time I do this the top card flys off. Anyone had the same problem and had a fix? Please help I'm so annoyed.
+John Yang practise is key
+John Yang Try flipping the deck when it's in it's box if you don't mind a few scuff marks on the box. It helps with catching the deck after the flip.
I had

+52Kards No wonder my card flew into my drink :/
Depends on what you were drinking?!☺
+Morris Colautti it doesn't really matter how old the cards, but some flourishes don't work with bent cards.
+52Kards How much pressure I need to flip the deck???
You can find a tutorial for it on my channel. It's called a Molecule Cut
What help me to learn is to put a rubber band on the deck so when you epically fail the cards won't fly everywhere.
+Mystify Minds works great thanks for the tip
first time i tried it, i shot the bottom card up into the air, now using it as a nice reveal :) thx for the tutorial :)
Whenever I try this I flick away the bottom card with my index finger, any tips?

I did it well just 20 min after i seen your video :o i'm shock about myself and thank you so much you're explaining so good !! (I'm French btw)
Advice that helped me: Practice with 23 card
Elevate a little the deck, like in charlier cut
Place your index lower than in the video. Almost in the middle, maybe even lower.
After playing 52 card pickup a few times, I figured out to leave the deck in the tuck case until I get good.
Great tutorial, the best way to practise is with the deck in the box for me.
great tutorial didnt take me long to nail it thanks
U're right! The deck will FLY!
I practiced this alot then with my right hand and i was like OK lets learn the molecule cut. Then i saw you did this with the left hand... LOL
This is pissing me off because my cards just fly everywhere!!!!!
Try putting them in a box
I can do the flip almost perfectly. The only problem is that my index finger shoots bottom card of the deck away. How do i fix this?
take the cards out of the box but use a rubber band to keep them together, the best way to improve is with the physical deck in you hand, once you feel like you got the florish down start to practice without the rubber band, hope this helped
What helps with the flip is to cut the deck in half and start with just half, and then once you get half of the deck down, you can just add like another fourth or whatever you feel comfortable with.
Is it normal that the top card very often flies away on a new deck of cards?
omg lol i was trying it while watching you were explaining and the top card would flip off and my finger hurted i was like wow must be doing it right =D
I too get the top card flying out,
ambitious card - double lift, "your card" "no"
deck flip, card flies out but catch it to reveal the card.
(like I meant it to happen)
it goes down very well.
but I would still like to be able to nail the flip correctly.
Thank you for the tutorial. I've changed the name though because in my hands it is better known as the Incrediable Exploding Deck!
i have a problem keeping the deck together as its flipping any help with that?
i have a problem, the bottom card creates friction and sticks to my hand when the rest of the deck does the flip, what would you recomend?
I cannot seem to avoid making the top or bottom card fly out expectantly but consistently. Any tips to fix this?
is it a problem if my first finger is closer to my thumb and the deck rotates towards my fingers instead, not towards the thumb like it's shown in the video ?
thanks, i pretty much have this trick 8/10 times with only an afternoon of practice :)
This wasnt that hard actually :) thanks for showing this. Took about a minute :O! Mustve been an amaaazing tutorial ;)
Ok, all the cards of the deck flipped all the way exept the top and bottom card :) looked cool anways .
at first all my card went all over the place but i noticed it helps to practice with the cards in the box it has he same weight and the same shape its better than a phone.
Woohoooo I did it just start of with half decka and work from there thank you 52 Kards
I have certainly mastered the art ............... of 52 pickup
