@Brad Roberts yeah such an obsoleted design that basically every modern handgun is based on the M1911 operating system and how is the .45 ACP obsoleted and also do you know the 9mm cartridge is 2 years older than the .45 ACP so I guess it is obsoleted aswell by using your logic if not then you need to ask yourself if you are just picking and choosing which is obsoleted and not based on age and the .45 is just as relevant as the 9mm, back with the M1911, just ask yourself why modern handguns look more like the M1911 than they do with the Luger if the M1911 is such an obsoleted design, not to forget that both handguns were created around the same time.

The Ruger Safety 9 also has decent reviews and has a manual safety, but the safety doesn't appear to be very user friendly without a bunch of practice. No matter what, I suggest you buy a laser shooting bullet from amazon, download the free app and train yourself. You can also get bang caps for additional training. "Unlike the competition, we didn't design the manual safety as an afterthought. Instead, we made the ENTIRE pistol an afterthought! Introducing the Sig P25. . . errrr. . . . 320! Brand new in every way!"
That's absolutely right, and if you haven't seen my comment, it was not the most rigorous "pistol down select in history" neither in terms of round count (including elemental testing) or "rough handling" testing. If they had done the rough handling testing like they have in the past (1980's, 1990's and a report I read as recent as 2014), they would have likely uncovered the dropsafe issue. Unlike the lies people like the Yankee Marshal set loose, the military has always tested their shotguns, rifles and pistols by dropping them on their sides AND the muzzle and butts of each weapon. Anyone can download these procedures throughout the years and see the procedure outlined in black and white. So anyway, good catch. When I heard a SIG rep mention years ago that the P320 was a completely new design from the ground up, I knew he was either misinformed or lying.
Actually, I think they should've picked the M9a3 and saved everyone (Us) MILLIONS in new guns, new support equipment, new training, new parts, new "testing" etc...
Forum and Brim fun fact neither did the others and yes it was the most rigorous because the Army kept going from one selection to the next. The drop test you mentioned wasn't a natural drop that's what the military tests and said problem has since been fixed. Both the M9 and 1911 had to have improvements to make them more rugged hence the 1911A1 and minor improvements to the M9. The M-17 gives the Army an adaptability far better then any other pistol in the fact they can easily switch to the 45acp variant with little difficulty or cost if or when necessary.

I often wonder what gun laws are like in other parts of the world. Im in Texas so generally you are born with a gun in hand lol,.. What are the gun laws like in Jamaica ? How easy is the process to purchase ?
Still a cool gun, but I think the U.S. ARMY would have been much better served by adopting the Swiss-German developed sig pro series of pistols, it's my favorite handgun of all time and has the durability of the Glock 19, the flare of the Beretta M92FS (& Sig Sauer P226 as well), and is much like a Bundeswehr HK P8 or HK USP, as well as the HK Mk 23 (which the USP is based on) and I thought that the HK Mk 23 was the most rigorously tested (by SOCOM no less) pistol in human history!? Just like lying about creating the sig pro, Sig Sauer Inc (U.S.A.) seems to be lying about testing as well, thereby ruining their own reputation.
I see that there is a QR code by the serial...this being the faux M17 with black controls...is the QR code UID formated? Anyway nice surprise, past press releases didn't mention that QR being present on the faux version. worst case it's gibberish, I can replace the QR with a replica UID tag...just need the DoD Part# for the M17 My obvious preference is the Legit model, haven't been able to catch a break on the initial batches yet...the commercial version just got a heck of a lot more appealing though
Because thats not needed. Glock came out with that and now everyone thinks that is required to have a safe pistol. When a rounds in the pipe, keep your finger off the trigger. That easy hahahha
It wasn't a down select process (which was/is a term reserved for the PVT). Glock had already been ruled out, so the SIG went into its PVT with no competition. It did, however, fail the minimum 2000 MRBS requirement and had accidental discharges when dropped. That's nothing to brag about.
I won't carry a striker gun without a safety. I passed on the 320 for this reason. I did a video on my channel on my philosophy of safeties if anyone is interested. I know the "booger hook" tactical brigade will call it stupid, but I try to lay our logical reasons why and give examples.
@Rabbi Jesus I disagree...I carry a gun, I dont live by the gun. That said, I carry every day, have had lots if training and i almost had a negligent discharge as i was holstering. Was it preventable? Yes it was! Would me feeling like a dumbass change the wound in my groin while I was bleeding out? I have my philosophy and it may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
Geoff, ALWAYS look into your holster before pushing the pistol into it- to make sure there isn't anything in the holster that could press the trigger- like a drawstring or toggle from a jacket, or fabric from a shirt, and to make sure a worn leather holster isn't collapsing in on itself. It takes less time to do that than it takes to rack a round into the chamber (But carrying an empty chamber is stupid- always carry condition zero). The safest way to carry is a rigid Kydex holster from a quality manufacturer.
thanks man, I know how its done, but I appreciate you looking out for me. You always carry with one in the chamber, but that isn't what this is about right? Its about the realities of humanity and the potential for a mistake to happen just once in a 100,000 re-holsters could be fatal. I have been carrying for 20 years, I get how it works and I know what works for me. I want that 1/2 a second longer to consider the situation before I am dead, or ballless. I don't expect anyone to watch this, but here is a video I did where I try to be as comprehensive as possible. th-cam.com/video/IpV1DNPKA1k/w-d-xo.html
Looked at these at the range and they said the rear sight and plate are one piece. That to me is a bad design. If you put a red dot and don't have a rear sight if your red dot goes bad on you. I'll spend a lil more and get a p226 or p229
"The M17 survived the most rigorous military pistol down select in history"??? That is a boldfaced lie. The military never even completed the testing (which was Glock's complaint to the GAO)! In fact, every other test of its kind was more demanding in terms of both the number of rounds fired, including elemental testing, and the "rough handling" testing (i.e. drop testing). This video is the real issue I have with SIG at the moment. They're not an honest company in my opinion. Given everything that went on with the M17 and P320 last year, and all the lying and denials, SIG has shown they have an integrity problem. Do you want to put your life in the hands of people who can't seem to be trusted? That's a flawed business model. Firearms manufacturers need to be honest and direct with consumers to earn their trust. The reliability issues are bad, but not the worst issue in my opinion. SIG, the U.S. Army, and GAO all had their hands in the cover up, so maybe having to balance all of those lies was the rigorous process he's referring, but it sure wasn't rigorous for the pistol. That's a fact. Even if the testing was completed, and it wasn't, the RFP didn't even include the normal rough handling protocols I mentioned. Every other military pistol, rifle, and shotgun test I've ever seen included the same protocols (even as late as 2014). For some reason, the MHS lowered their standards in "drop testing." I love my P229, and the truth is that the P320, and hence the XM17, is the most comfortable gun I've ever held (however subjective), but if we were to put the SIG XM17/P320 through the complete test, and made sure it was at least as rigorous as testing in the past, I have no doubt-and I mean NO DOUBT!!!-the Glock would be victorious. According to our own government's internal memos, they're still having reliability issues with the SIG. Glock, on the other hand, has a proven track record spanning over 30 years.
Jesus people get over it. Not talking about Glock again please. There is handguns better than GLOCK and SIG anyways SIG have more pistol models than GLOcK same perfection. None of this Handguns are bad. But the Sig have more capabilities than the Glock. The P320 is a very adaptable gun. And in other hand the Glock is not. You can do with one P320 what you can do with all the different sizes of the GLOcK. Interchangeable grips in less than 30 seconds and caliber. 5 GLoCKS = 1 P320
@Rabbi Jesus you're a fucking child typical glocktard... glock cant compare to sig or hk or even beretta in quality I'm not gonna argue with an idiot...because when you do you become one
dude, so wrong. if you dont have one, dont talk shit. the gun is in everyway superior to the glock19x. i completely understand why they choose this gun. without a single doubt.
If you had to move the P320 slide catch forward, then by definition, the safety WAS an afterthought. Besides, the Glock's slide stop is even further forward so they wouldn't have had this problem.
Sig did to much on the military version of the p320. The sig classic was sigs biggest money maker and sig got comfortable, the basic 320 was getting air play with the public and law enforcement, but they started to mess with it and folks left sig alone. You rarely see p 320’s in gun stores, Glocks and Smith & Wesson are taking over.
LMFAO! You have no idea what you're talking about, and the industry sales data show both the p365 and the p320 models consistently in the top 5 in sales according to industry sales data. Your comment is the opposite of the actual facts.

THERE'S NO GRAVITY IN JAMAICA??..THE WEAPON CAN'T BE DROPPED? they need to put more effort in helping their international customers
I often wonder what gun laws are like in other parts of the world. Im in Texas so generally you are born with a gun in hand lol,.. What are the gun laws like in Jamaica ? How easy is the process to purchase ?
SIG, you guys need to answer some of the questions we have on these videos. I'm kinda tired of hearing silence.
Can we buy one in California? That's the BIG question.
^..^~~
Nope
Only the nerf version
@@douglasneiman6887 and someone will get offended....
I Love it, I like my handgun.

Simply the Best!
Vahn Geo you clearly don’t know anything about guns.
ChrisPewKreme let me guess! 🤔GLOcK?😂Jesus this GLOCKTARDS!!!!!
I'm pretty annoyed that companies like Glock don't do the optic option. Stupid that I have to pay aftermarket $500 for that feature alone.
I have a collection of Glocks, in all flavors you might say. And YES, you've gotta' spends some cash to make a Glock do what you want!
^..^~~
pinkeye00 Glock does it's called MOS.
I need that next purchase
Did I hear correctly; only two magazines? All of the other MHS candidates come with three magazines.
Mine came with 3. I don't know if they didnt tell him
@@starwarsheros9245 , Thanks. That's good to know.
Wonder why this one doesn't have a red dot on the safety
Awesome firearm!!! Release it in black please!!! I'd go buy one asap
Already available in black- called the "p320-m17 bravo".
I love my SIG 320 M17, but I have never fired it because I cant find ammo and I want the SIG ammo...
cool
I see that there is a QR code by the serial...this being the faux M17 with black controls...is the QR code UID formated?
Anyway nice surprise, past press releases didn't mention that QR being present on the faux version.
worst case it's gibberish, I can replace the QR with a replica UID tag...just need the DoD Part# for the M17
My obvious preference is the Legit model, haven't been able to catch a break on the initial batches yet...the commercial version just got a heck of a lot more appealing though
The black controls make it no different than mil delivered M17.
Y is there no trigger within a trigger ?
Because thats not needed. Glock came out with that and now everyone thinks that is required to have a safe pistol. When a rounds in the pipe, keep your finger off the trigger. That easy hahahha
It wasn't a down select process (which was/is a term reserved for the PVT). Glock had already been ruled out, so the SIG went into its PVT with no competition. It did, however, fail the minimum 2000 MRBS requirement and had accidental discharges when dropped. That's nothing to brag about.
No more shitty Beretta mag problem, yeahhhhh
Geoff,
ALWAYS look into your holster before pushing the pistol into it- to make sure there isn't anything in the holster that could press the trigger- like a drawstring or toggle from a jacket, or fabric from a shirt, and to make sure a worn leather holster isn't collapsing in on itself.
Officer safety
@Lilac Tortoise actually, I have a video on my channel where i address exposed hammers, passive safeties and safeties.
They're out of stock everywhere they must be sending them all to Ukraine
👍🏻⭐🔥👑
Looked at these at the range and they said the rear sight and plate are one piece. That to me is a bad design. If you put a red dot and don't have a rear sight if your red dot goes bad on you. I'll spend a lil more and get a p226 or p229
But does it take Glock mags?

Seems like the army "settled" they don't seem to impressed with the new sidearms.
For some reason, the MHS lowered their standards in "drop testing."
I love my P229, and the truth is that the P320, and hence the XM17, is the most comfortable gun I've ever held (however subjective), but if we were to put the SIG XM17/P320 through the complete test, and made sure it was at least as rigorous as testing in the past, I have no doubt-and I mean NO DOUBT!!!-the Glock would be victorious.
Another butthurt glocktard....glock is trash
@Rabbi Jesus you're a fucking child typical glocktard... glock cant compare to sig or hk or even beretta in quality I'm not gonna argue with an idiot...because when you do you become one
@Rabbi Jesus by the way my python is probably worth more than your car....fucking idiot
Glock didn't meet the minimum requirements for the selection
It was the chosen one because you basically gave them away.
dude, so wrong. if you dont have one, dont talk shit. the gun is in everyway superior to the glock19x. i completely understand why they choose this gun. without a single doubt.

Santa’sFurball bish schwiizer
How many drug test did you took to make this video?
No Thanks
