this interviewer is SO respectful and genuine. I love that he lets mike talk, he doesn't interrupt. The questions were not prying, they were honest and great.
From the interviews I've seen, it seems that the people who knew Mike before, or knew Chester, are generally more respectful. Idk if it's because they talk to Mike even when it's not recorded and asked all the difficult questions in these interviews, if they've already got an idea of what it's like from having met Chester themselves (even if it was just a couple of times), knowing his boundaries and how to respect him, or something completely else... but it's just like that.
This is a radio show in LA, which is where the band is from, so naturally the band members have come by and did interviews there multiple times. They know Mike, and you can see it in the interview.

The part when he talks about Anna is just so genuine and cute! They really love each other! 🖤🖤Btw, already bought the album and I can't stop listening to it! It's so awesome!

Mike is such a genuine human being. He is so humble and he is one of the most talented entertainers I have ever seen in my life. I'm very proud of him
Thank you for clarifying on twitter that you made sure Mike was okay with hearing a clip of Chester talking before playing it. Would be awesome if you could add an annotation stating that at that point in the video, or even write it in the description. Just so people know. We're a very defensive lot and tend to overreact when we think one of our own has been hurt or threatened. Great interview though! I adore when Mike talks about how incredible Anna is or about interactions with his kids.
Evalynn I think many fans don't like that part because Mike had such a hard time listening to Chester's voice during OML live album listening party he need to leave early. Since they asked him beforehand for this segment and he seems ok with it, I guess it was ok.
I wholeheartedly understand why people got upset. I am one of the people who got upset because I know how much it hurts me when I hear Chester's voice when I wasn't planning to, and to think someone would do that to Mike and not give him an opportunity to agree to it is infuriating. That's why I think it's a really good idea to defuse the situation and tell people up front that they asked and Mike agreed. Would make a lot of people less defensive and angry :)
Agreed. I just watched this (late to the party again!) An when they played his interview I was like omgosh! I was about in tears for Mike. He did look like it bothered a tad but I think it was because he hadnt heard that particular interview. But Im glad they ok'd it with him first. It shows that he is moving along in grief process being willing at this point to hear him talking. But I do think some of the other members of LP are having a harder time even now. But the part about Anna. How sweet is he! Rt! I bet he is a wonderful partner an Dad. Goodluck Mikey!

They are so next door guys despite having been one of the most important band the past 20 years. Their humility is only paired by their creative genius
Mike is gorgeous! Last year he looked so depressed what I worried what he may finish his musical career. That woud be sad because he is very talented.
He's always creating stuff, and it's his way of processing grief as well, so I can't see his career ending anytime soon
I'm glad if you are right. His song "Place to start" made me worry for his musical future.

That's crazy, I just watched Chester's interview on here the day this released.
When I hear his name I think of someone kind and caring, a complete artist in every sense of the word. mostly a good and caring and fun and loyal friend. Very lucky who knows him personally :)

Mike we all love you so much
It's so good to hear him talk about doing LP songs live again & not feeling sad. Grief can swallow you whole, & even when you know intellectually that the feeling (or at least its intensity) is temporary, it's hard to believe that in the moment.
I like a description I've heard of the loss staying the same size, but your life grows around it. So the loss becomes a much smaller part of your story. It rings true for me.
You can clearly see Mike really misses Chester from the look on his face at the end of hearing his voice
