    Someone needs to make a dipstick tube extension & extended flexible dipstick to route it to a more accessible location.

    Look at oil change for model 22&23 you have to turn on and do a drain mode on it by acc and leave power press for 5 seconds three times until fully drain

  • @jatrevino11
    @jatrevino11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I over torqued the small drain plug and stripped the oilpan threads. Can I still use it or do I have to rethread it for the next size bolt/replace the oil pan? I don't plan on using it that way for long. I just need it for a 2 day trail ride (75 mi +-). Great video, but you should mention that over tightening the bolts could result in thread stripping.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to tap and use a helicoil insert to repair the threads.

    Why didn’t you
    Soak the new oil filter in oil. On my crf 450r or any vehicle it’s a must to keep from burning the oil pump up or running the motor dry of oil during initial start.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can be a good idea to pre oil some spin on style filters but it's generally not required or recommended for cartridge style filters like these. Like always it's best to check the service manual for whatever machine you're working on but even for the newer CRF's, Honda doesn't say anything about pre soaking the oil filter in the service manual. Hope that helps!

    Shouldn’t you take the oil filter loose first so it drains the filter housing so when you drain the oil it drains all of the oil?

    • @FlatPlaneCranky
      @FlatPlaneCranky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Remove the drain plugs first and leaving them out, remove the oil filter and that is the least mess you’ll make, and thoroughly drain all oil. Then install the filter and cap then install both drain plugs. Way less mess and thorough drain.

    How would we take out some oil if it shows to high on the dip stick?

    • @dustyfarmer
      @dustyfarmer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remove & quickly replace the drain plug or use a clean 200ML syringe with clean plastic hose down the filler/dipstick tube & suction the required amount out. Pay attention to the amount of engine oil recommended & the amount you pour in, the recommended amount should get you to a correct dipstick reading first off.

    Every video I've seen tells people to add 3.7 quarts. DO NOT DO THIS. Add maybe 3.4 at most and get your machine up to temp, shut it off and check level. Its easier to add more than take it out. Just saying. These machines read low when cold.

  • @davidkron9091
    @davidkron9091 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m not sure where you guys get the 3. 7 quarts from…? Any Can-Am Maverick X3 from 2017 to 2019 holds approximately 4 quarts “BRAND NEW” of oil. At first oil change and beyond, engine will take approximately 2 quarts of oil (read dipstick when filling).
    Please edit or remove this video it is very misleading thank you

    • @AdamLoerts
      @AdamLoerts 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      '22 X3 RR uses 3.7 US Quarts per the Operator's Guide procedures (page 123). Maybe it's for '20 and newer? That would be odd though since this video was released in 2017, lol.

    This is not the right way to do it. I’m sure it’s not that big of a deal but you’re gonna end up with old oil residue. Notice how when you removed the oil filter it was still full of oil… after you drain the oil, put your key in the ignition press the gas pedal all the way down and hold the starter button for 5 seconds This is called flood mode, it will let out another half a quart of oil. After oil stops draining do it again and do not exceed 5 seconds. This should completely drain your oil
