I passed first time. I don't know why, but I went through the entire test explaining my thought process and everything I was doing, whether it be checking my mirrors, slowing down, signaling or even changing gear. I found it helped ease the nerves a lot. I spoke for the whole duration of the test. Felt a bit bad for the examiner as after a while, I could tell he was getting sick at the sound of my voice.

I passed with 1 minor fault... Hesitation. When I explained to the examiner that it wasn't a hesitation, I didn't overtake a cyclist because I couldn't give him a full car's width due to cars parked on the opposite carriageway, he said 'nobody gets a clean slate'.... the bastard. 🤣

I passed Monday second attempt. The overwhelming emotion I had was RELIEF. My licence also came Friday, so fast!

Yesterday I passed my driving test for second time, first time I wasn't confident and really stressed that why I failed in just minutes,I was really shocked, I was hesitate to take another test but my husband encouraged me to go and just drive like how you drive with me. I tried to manage my stress and concentrate it's the key to pass your driving test and keep watching video especially test route in your area it's really help 😊

I passed my test on the 27th of September only last month. And I was very similar to Brandon I had the ability to pass but when I would get talking I would loose focus very quick and I did pass but on my manoeuvre I fu*k up but I corrected it. The examiner said that was fine I never panicked I just corrected it and he passed me. But nervous do a play a part but just my Advice to anyone just chill take nice slow easy and just drive if your good enough you’ll pass it. Don’t rush into it guys if your not ready.
I am from Canada and I like watching these videos.I can't belive how hard it is to get your drivers license in UK. Lot more stricter and more rules. In Canada we only do a 20 min test and we go in residential areas.It's easy to pass. I don't understand why we have to show Paralle parking for a driving test even in UK. I never one did a Paralle parking after the driving test and have been driving for 5 years now.

Just adjust your mirrows low enough when you parallel park and no way you ll make mistake.. 45 degrees angle and reverse, look at mirrows, when you get close enough turn the steering wheel back, voila...

Do you guys have these courses in America? They seem to help a ton in the UK, and I’m currently trying to learn to drive, I’d rely on the videos but the roads & driver side is opposite of us.

From Brandon starting his driving journey last September / October, as a very nervous driver, through every lesson and let's not forget the long lockdowns, and now test day has come and gone. You got this in the bag I think. Now the clock ticks to midday tomorrow for the result 🙂

Why do so many people in the UK use their hand brakes when coming to a stop? Having to worry about three pedals, a stick AND a hand brake seems a little silly when a foot brake does the job just fine.
Hope it is a pass otherwise there's always another day. I had my test at the exact same time so there was very little traffic. When we got back to the test centre I thought I had made a mistake because it went by so fast.
Greetings from poland, here with a question after watching the channel for a couple days and noticing something strange. Why the "overuse" of the handbrake?
I get uphill but at regular stop lights I think the regular brake would suffice no?

There are a few reasons for this but a couple of them are that if your foot should slip off the brake whilst in traffic this can result in you losing control of the car and rolling backwards (potentially causing an accident). Having just your foot brake on will also cause glare from the brake lights for the driver behind. Generally the instructor will tell you to apply the handbrake if it's been longer than 4-5 seconds (so if it looks like you will be sitting in traffic for an extended period of time).
There are a few reasons to use the handbrake over foot brake.
The foot brake can cause sight issues for drivers following you. The brake lights are a lot brighter than tail lights, and especially at night, they can really upset a driver's night vision. But they are potentially dazzling at any time of day, not just night.
The foot brake is only any good while your foot is on it:
- In the event that your vehicle is hit by another, you may release the foot brake accidentally, making the situation worse for you and those around you.
- In the event that you are startled by something (a loud noise, or sudden event inside or outside the car) you may release the foot brake, potentially causing an incident.
- In the event of a sudden ailment (from something as simple as feeling sick, through to the possibility of something extremely serious such as a stroke, or seizure), you may release the foot brake and cause an incident.
There is also the issue of misunderstanding of your intention. We all know everybody should be paying as much attention to the road and surroundings when stationary as they would when moving. We all also know that lots of people don't. They start messing with their radio, or phone, or even reading a damned book or newspaper. This leads to a situation where they can suddenly react to a situation they think is happening, even though it isn't. For example, you are in a small queue at a road junction and sit on the foot brake. The driver behind picks up the phone and starts reading and sending messages on some group app. You're stationary longer than you thought you were going to be and your leg is becoming tired and stiff. You apply the handbrake and release the foot brake so you can stretch your leg and give it a brief rest. The driver behind catches your brake lights are off in their peripheral vision, and is startled because they were reading a message rather than paying attention to the road. They over react, drive forward, but because you didn't release the foot brake to start moving, they crash into your vehicle.
There really isn't a good reason to use the foot brake over the handbrake when stationary for more than a second or two. Of course if you join a stationary queue of cars, but can see cars 70 or so metres ahead are moving again, you may decide to use just the foot brake, or even the clutch if you use a fully manual transmission. But when it comes to sitting in stationary traffic, at traffic lights, a junction, or just a long tailback on a road, sitting on the foot brake rather than using the handbrake isn't particularly good practice.
