I am a serial glue baster. I started using it early in my quilting journey, and I just would not quilt without it. I use Elmer's washable school glue that I put in a in a precision bottle (identical to the acorn). I can get a gallon of Elmers (at my local salvage place) for what 1oz of the Acorn product sells for. I find that precision applicator bottle to be key to glue management. Really, a little dab will do you! The are available on Amazon. You just cannot work with any type of Elmer's nozzle. I use it for my paper piecing as well as use it for precision piecing my blocks together. Like the repositionable glue recommendation. Glue basting is such an awesome technique because it allows you to phase your work (and it does not get stuck together with pins) (whether paper piecing or precision).

Curious what you use to position Applique with the peel and stick. I’m using a light box and Roxanne’s glue baste it. But by the time it dries enough, it’s leaving foundation paper on the back of my fabric. Thanks for the info!

Thank you for this video. Have you ever had glue stains on your fabric after washing your quilt? I have washed it twice and they are like stains.

Most of the glues I have used are water soluble… so they wash out when the quilt is washed or if. Dab I with water. I haven’t experienced any stains. I’m sorry if you’ve experienced this. I’d try to see what they recommend with the particular glue you used. Best of luck!!

What about archival concerns using glue?

Not sure what you mean? Archival in quilting?

In scrapbooking they talk about archival paper. In photography they talk about archival protectors. In quilting they talk about archival storage. My concern with the glue is that it will impact the fabric deteriorating sooner than if I used pins or a glue that has properties that don’t impact the fabric.

@@robint288 Ok. I guess I don’t really have an answer for that. When put out the video I didn’t address that issue. Sorry.
