EPIK is really steppin it up with the apartments man. I remember watching EPIK apt tours years ago and they were gross 80s floral wallpaper moldy little rooms. Now they all look like this.
kassie jane I think I definitely lucked out with my apartment! There have been better improvements, I’m sure. But I know some people who still have floral wallpaper 😂
Do Does the apartment is expensive? The apartment you apply at where? Yours is look pretty nice, can you let me know the address, the name, the place near the sub way etc..?? Haha. Ofc I am not saying it address as in the building apartment house address and the website u apply for this? And Epik isn't it the one students study Korean for the exam thingy..?
Hi! I don't know the exact cost of the apartment. My school pays for it! I'm contracted through EPIK, which is English Program in Korea. It's a program that brings native English speakers to Korea to teach (: Unfortunately, for privacy reasons, I can't tell you the exact location of my apartment, but it's in Yongin province!
Never put your meds in the medicine cabinet. I know dumb right. The humidity and heat lessens the effectiveness of meds. You need to keep meds in a cool dry place so either in your closet or any cabinet just not in the bathroom or kitchen.
I've watched this so many times it's literally unreal. I think I've watched all the EPIK apartment tours and now I have to wait for the fall intake to post theirs. Yours is super cute ~
Omg they hooked you up with a really nice place! Looks brand new 😀 How's the location? Is it near your school? I wish the apartment that I had in Seoul when I was a teacher with SMOE was as cool as this one!
Fon K. Thank you!! It’s an hour away from my main school but only 10 minutes from my second school. It’s okay though because my main school is super rural so I’d rather be in the city :)
Do Does Man that is a fairly long commute to your main school but I totally understand about wanting to live in the city. I was in a similar situation before but my commute was about 2 hrs 😣 #neveragain lol Good luck on everything and looking forward to seeing your adventures! ❤️
Ivette Sanabria ahh, I wish! I can’t get rid of any of the furniture unfortunately since it’s provided by my school. Also my TV is mounted on the wall! Trust me, I’ve definitely tried to make it more spacious 😅 thanks for the advice!
iiVanilla_bruh ! Yeah. I tried that but the space is really awkward. I have changed up the furniture positions since this video though :) thanks for the suggestion!!
@@mikidough oh wow that was quick.. np I've been binging videos on sk and i'd really like to visit or even live there sometime, can i ask how you like it and if you like the people there?
iiVanilla_bruh ! I like it a lot! It’s fun to experience a different culture. I would say that’s it’s definitely different if you’re visiting vs living here. If you visit, you’ll be able to have a great time in Seoul. There’s so much to do. If you live here and don’t live in a city, it can get discouraging if you don’t know the language. Overall though, I enjoyed my year here :) the people are nice but there’s also mean people too. Just like any other country.
Hi! I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I’m super happy to have found you in your beginning phases of your teaching abroad journey! I’m graduating next spring and want to teach in Korea after and it makes me happy and also nervous when I watch your videos. I hope the loneliness you feel goes away when you make more friends and experience Korea more. I watched the video where you talk about it and I definitely fear the loneliness the most. Can’t wait for more videos 😊
Hi! Thanks for your comment :) That’s an awesome plan! I hope everything goes great for you! Don’t worry. The loneliness does fade after a while. Just keep thinking positive thoughts! :)
Hey there! I"m curious--I'm on JET right now in Japan and I'm looking to maybe switch over to EPIK. I don't think I would mind being placed in nowhere SK, but I'm curious what the likelihood of being placed in a big city is? I am in nowhere Japan right now haha. Second question--I read a comment that you don't pay for accommodation except for the key money that is taken out in the first three months. Do you know if this is true of all EPIK participants..? Does the school always pay for the apt on EPIK?
Kathrynキャスリン I’m not entirely sure what the likelihood is, but I do know that if you get your stuff in early you have a better choice to be placed in your city of preference. Also, being placed in the middle of nowhere is not as bad as you think. Most places have access to buses and subways that’ll get you to bigger cities. I wouldn’t worry :) As for accommodations, that is true. Your school pays for your apartment. There are some cases where you can opt to find your own apartment and you’re giving a stipend of 400,000 won per month but honestly it’s better to just take the apartment that you’re given. The key money is 900,000 split into 3 payments for the first 3 months. You’ll get that back at the end of your contract :) hope that helps!
Kathrynキャスリン yeah of course! Just know that you’ll have to cover your total key money amount if you go with the stipend route and you have to tell them in advance. That’s why most new people choose the free apartment because they don’t have the money for the full key deposit.
ESPERANZA BAIZABAL I believe the apartment complex is called Smartville. It’s in Yongin City! I’m not sure what university you want to study at, but it’s about 45 minutes from Seoul if that helps! :)
I wanted to apply for EPIK but unfortunately my country is not in the list. I am from Pakistan and I have no idea if they will accept my application even though my whole education is in English.
Maheen Hashmi Awwh I’m sorry :( unfortunately applicants must be from the countries listed. You can always try to contact a recruiter and see if they can help you!
How long does the EPIK process usually take from your application to going to korea (assuming you're approved)? And also are they less likely to take male applicants? I heard someone talk about that before
GeoffLeeRee hi! Check out my EPIK timeline video. I explain that more in detail :) as for the gender, I don’t think they discriminate. I know a lot of guys who are teachers here.
Taylor 96 my apartment came with WiFi. I paid it through my apartment maintenance fees. My friends had to go set up internet on their own though. It depends on what your school gives you! Either way, you’re responsible for paying for it :) hope that helps!
I want to do this but my boyfriend said he wouldn’t be able to do the whole long distance thing for a year...how did you talk him into it/keep your relationship alive?
World Princess it was definitely a hard conversation to have. Honestly, you can’t force someone to be in an ldr. My boyfriend and I both decided that we would try to commit to each other and if anything happened, we could always try when I returned. He wasn’t on board with the whole ldr thing at first. He didn’t want us to be away from each other for a year, but eventually he wanted to be with me regardless. So I’m thankful for that. Unfortunately it’s not something that I “talked him into” so I don’t have much advice for that. Sorry! We talk every single day and FaceTime a lot. The time difference is hard, but if you’re both committed to doing this, you’ll be okay :) just remember that there will be hard moments and communication is so crucial!!
Do Does like when you are moving there can you only bring a limited amount of things? like only so many clothes or you can’t bring certain things with you from home?
Ohh. I brought over a carry on, a backpack, a medium checked suitcase and a large suitcase. There’s nothing that anyone told me I couldn’t bring, but I just looked up essential things to pack and brought that stuff over with me :) clothes vary by person. I’m a small person so it’s not hard for me to find clothing and shoes over here! I know other people who had to pack more clothes because they’re taller or bigger. Hope that answers your question!!
Hi! That's fine if you're a citizen of any of these countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, or South Africa. You must also have gone through 7th grade to graduating with a bachelors degree in one of those countries to be eligible. Here's the link to the EPIK page for more information! www.epik.go.kr/contents.do?contentsNo=48&menuNo=275
Hi! Yes, you have to have a bachelors degree in anything. However, if it’s not in education, you’ll also need to get your TEFL or similar certification. :)
I love this video but.... you so threw me off when you said "water kettle", like I just freaked out.. are there other kinds of kettles??? Where I'm from we just call them kettles idk man.....

kassie jane ah, I see. Well fingers crossed that you end up with a good apartment! :)
that's because the EPIK teachers with gross apartments don't upload a tour haha
Yeah I taught with EPIK in 2011 and my apt was way less nice than this! 😂 I even had real keys, not a keypad door.
This apartment is so cute! I'm going to apply to EPIK this fall and this made me even more excited!
Thank you! :) I hope your application process goes well!

I think I would've eliminated the bottom bed and use that space for a small livingroom with a TV.
