I was down to the Canyon Denali and Ford Ranger Lariat, both with every option, crew cab short box 4x4 versions. Both trucks are very capable, but I ended up ordering a Ranger Lariat for a few reasons. First, the Ranger offered Dual Zone HVAC, Push Button Start, and full LED lights, including Fog lights, plus the FX4 Package which included 18" tires with more aggressive tread instead of the Denali's All Season 20" rubber. The GMC offered a Heated Steering Wheel, where the Ranger did not, the Ford had the 10 Speed Automatic where the GMC had an 8 speed, and even though it's a 4 Cylinder Turbo with 270HP to the GMC's 308HP V6, the Ford's engine was noticeably stronger, and the Ford had higher payload and towing with gasoline engines, the Canyon Duramax Diesel was slightly higher, but that brings the price into the $50,000 range. The Bang and Olufsen stereo in the Ford is likely the best stereo system I've ever heard in a truck, but the GMC's isn't far behind. Both trucks are attractive, ride reasonably well and get decent fuel mileage, and will serve the needs of anyone who wants a capable, nice pickup but doesn't need or want a full size truck. I traded a GMC Canyon Extended Cab Z71 4x4 on the Ranger, it was a great truck, never an issue, but this time, as nice as both the Lariat and the Denali were, the Ford was just that tiny bit nicer.
I can't even convey how windy it was out there. I had to stop in between every take and just sit in the truck for a couple minutes. That is hilarious you were thinking that.
Sorry but at this time in full size Dodge owns it, Ford needs to catch up to the Ram especially Laramie, what an insane 20.5 infotainment centre , it is really useful
$48,000 got me a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab with a Hemi 5.8L and 3.92 Etorque engine. That is some perspective for you. This truck has zero options compared to RAM. Btw, I owed a Canyon 2017 SLT Crew cab. They wanted $48,000. I ended up paying $38,000. You don't get anything different for the extra $7,000 except that Denali badge.

It needs blind spot monitors, rain sensing windshield wipers ,rear cross traffic alert with auto break and pedestrian detection with autobrake at min in 2022. Proper distance control cruise as well. Hello keyless start. A turnkey to start in 2020...crazy...mine as well have rollup windows.

This is a Denali trim level BUT...no push button, no moon roof, manual back seat adjust, outdated Nav, non-dual climate control, no inside box light, outdated steering controls, too much plastic, not enough cameras.
I was going to buy this truck but missing so much tech for a top trim. Im bowing out. I am looking at waiting a bit to see the Nissan Frontier. However, I would have rather have a GMC but it will be so outdated in a year or two.
That's truly disappointing. I would consider a midsize like the Canyon Denali, but it doesn't come with the traditional GMC upgrades. As you said in the video, it's as if GMC treated this as an afterthought, and unfortunately, it cost them a customer (me). I guess a full-sized pickemup is my destiny, garage space be damned.

If you're looking for a midsize luxury truck, I'm coming out in 2 weeks with a review of a Tacoma Limited, it's $5,000 LESS than the Canyon Denali but comes with features like a sunroof, power rear window & more! Stick around for that if you're not in a rush, that one really impressed me for a midsize luxury. It's still missing some things, but it really feels like Toyota went all out for it.
@@AlphaShark ok will fo i haven't test drove THE ranger but people says it shimmys and you say the gmc rode better does thecjevy colorado ride the same but i heard they've had transmission issues wirh the canyon and colorado i think just in reviews the colorado canyon look bigger inside and ate laid out better than the ranger
100% agree, I just reviewed another luxury midsize truck today and that video will be out in 2 weeks, and I have to say that one is MUCH MUCH better and more luxurious.

Sadly, in today's market, if you want a well equipped luxury oriented mid size pickup, mid $40,000's is the going rate, whether it's GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan or Honda, and a friend recently bought a Jeep Gladiator that topped $60,000. For me, I thought F150, but comparably equipped I was looking at about $62,000, and I don't really need or want a full size pickup, the Ranger or Canyon both suited my needs perfectly.
This is trash. The Denali badge isn't worth an extra 20k. My Colorado wt crew cab has everything this truck has with the exception of the radio. Everything else can be added with aftermarket suppliers.
