A lawsuit led by Palestinians and Palestinian Americans that accused President Joe Biden and other top U.S. officials of enabling genocide in Gaza was rejected Monday by a federal appeals court, which upheld a lower court’s dismissal of the lawsuit. The three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court ruled that courts cannot review the executive branch’s decisions on foreign policy, even when there is a risk of breaking domestic and international law. We speak with Katherine Gallagher, senior staff attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights, which helped represent the plaintiffs in the case. She says the court has “essentially given a blank check” for U.S. governments to do whatever they want in times of war.

"UN resumes talks after 13 years on Palestinian request for full membership
The UN Security Council has begun reconsidering the Palestinian request to become a full member of the global body after a hiatus of 13 years.
The request was initially submitted in September 2011 but talks stalled as the United States, which holds veto power and backs Israel, protested.
The Palestinians, currently a non-member observer, sent a letter to the Security Council and others on April 2, seeking the resumption of talks.
Malta's UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, who is the Security Council president for April, told reporters after a closed-door meeting on Monday that talks will be held this month...
The differences between the United States and Arab countries are expected to deepen over this debate." - NHK 4/9/2024
      -
"Security Council Fails to Recommend Full United Nations Membership for State of Palestine, Owing to Veto Cast by United States
The Security Council today blocked Palestine’s bid to become a full member of the United Nations due to a United States veto on a draft resolution that would have recommended the granting of such status.
The proposal, submitted by Algeria, received 12 votes in favour, with the United States casting a negative vote and Switzerland and the United Kingdom abstaining. A Council resolution requires at least nine votes in favour and no vetoes from its five permanent members - China, France, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States - to pass. The Algerian draft failed, owing to a negative vote cast by a permanent member.
If adopted, the draft would have had the 15-member Council recommend to the 193-member General Assembly that “the State of Palestine be admitted to membership in the United Nations”.
In 2011, Palestine submitted an application to become a full UN Member State. Although that aspiration did not materialize, it obtained the status of a non-member observer State in November 2012 through an Assembly vote of 138 in favour to nine against (Canada, Czech Republic, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Panama, Palau, United States), with 41 abstentions.
An application for admission to UN membership must be approved by the Council before being forwarded to the Assembly, where the matter requires at least two-thirds support to pass..." - UN website 04/18/2024
      -
      Yep.
Biden - a Catholic - has said repeatedly the he considers himself to be a Zionist - a racist - a Jewish Supremacist.
And he is the one that is responsible for directing the US to use its IMPERIAL veto power to stop the State of Palestine becoming a full member of the UN ... at which point they would be internationally acknowledged as a country.
Had it not been for that IMPERIAL veteo by a racist, there were more than enough votes at the UN so that it would be recognized as a full member state of the UN back in April of this year. All Biden had to do was abstain, but instead - in an obviously blatant racist act - he voted for and is continue to support Israeli war crimes and the torture of Palestinians that have gone on for decades and the continuing campaign of genocide being carried out by Israel's racist Zionist regime against Palestinians living within the State of Palestine that was founded as a country decades ago.
      -
I'm not voting for any racist. I don't care what position they are trying to get elected to.
      Stop all racism.
Acknowledge the State of Palestine at the UN!

Acknowledge the State of Palestine at the UN!
      -
I'll paraphrase the news articles below.
      1) In April, there was a call to have a vote to recognize the State of Palestine as a full member state of the UN.
      2) In April, the US used its IMPERIAL veto power vested in them as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to stop the vote for the State of Palestine to be recognised as a full member state of the UN. If it had not been for that IMPERIAL veto, the State of Palestine would be a full member state of the UN and be considered a country internationally. The State of Palestine had more than enough votes for it to pass.
      3) In May, several more countries that are members of the UN officially recognized the State of Palestine as a country.
      4) In June, an expert at the UN urged "all states" (might as well have said the "United States") to follow the example of over 75% of the members states of the UN and officially acknowledge the State of Palestine as a full member state at the UN. Noting that the State of Palestine as founded 11/15/1988.

"...Ireland, Spain and Norway have announced that they will recognize a Palestinian state amid Israel's ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The prime ministers of the three European countries made the announcement separately on Wednesday.
Ireland's Simon Harris said, "Palestinians in Gaza are enduring the most appalling suffering, hardship and starvation."
He also said, "We believe that 'permanent peace' can only be secured 'upon the basis of the free will of a free people.'"
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Norway's Jonas Gahr Store announced similar moves.
The countries' recognition is expected to take effect on May 28.
....The Palestinian Authority says at least 140 countries have so far recognized the state of Palestine.
As other countries in Europe and elsewhere are reportedly taking steps toward recognition, international pressure on Israel is expected to intensify." - NHK 5/22/2024

"UN experts urge all States to recognise State of Palestine
GENEVA (3 June 2024) - All States must follow the example of 146 United Nations Member States and recognise the State of Palestine and use all political and diplomatic resources at their disposal to bring about an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, UN experts* said today.
“This recognition is an important acknowledgement of the rights of the Palestinian people and their struggles and suffering towards freedom and independence,” the experts said.
They insisted that Palestine must be able to enjoy full self-determination, including the ability to exist, determine their destiny and develop freely as a people with safety and security.
“This is a pre-condition for lasting peace in Palestine and the entire Middle East - beginning with the immediate declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza and no further military incursions into Rafah,” the experts said.
The State of Palestine, formally declared by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on 15 November 1988, claims sovereignty over the remaining parts of historic Palestine that Israel occupied in 1967: the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
As of 28 May 2024, the State of Palestine was recognised by the vast majority of Member States of the United Nations.
The experts welcomed the latest recognitions of the occupied Palestinian territory as a State by Norway, Ireland and Spain, which comes after the General Assembly overwhelmingly voted - with 143 votes in favour to nine votes against - to back Palestine’s bid to become a full member of the United Nations on 10 May 2024...."- ohchr (United Nations: Human Rights: Office of the High Commissioner) 06/03/2024

Things do not look good for the US because they are losing power and they will have to face BRICS. The solution to difficulties should not always be sought in power and superiority. China understands that very well and so does Putin. Cooperation and adaptation take a state further than simply imposing sanctions. That creates enemies.
