      I think she understands, the original Bran would not treat her that way. So I think she is more baffled and overwhelmed, etc. But not really offended. She knows it's no longer Bran. Meaning her job is done. But they will probably meet again.

    Fun fact: If you go back and watch the scene where Jon and Dany were in the cave you can see that the lighting on Dany's face is red while the lighting on Jon's face is half blue half red... because Dany is a full-blooded Targaryen and Jon is half Stark and half Targaryen so that was cool.

    I saw a lot of comments about the "jealous" look that Sansa gave Arya after her sparring session with Brienne, but I didn't interpret it that way at all. I think the look on Sansa's face reflected the sad realization that both her remaining younger siblings - Bran and Arya - have grown into completely different people and have none of the childhood innocence that she remembers. She hasn't seen either of them since season 1 when they were all kids, and now Arya's a cold-blooded killer while Bran is some sort of emotionless psychic tree whisperer. Sansa was probably so happy to be reunited with her brother and sister in Winterfell and hoped that they could go back to the happy lives they used to have together in their childhood home, but they've all changed so much and they have all lost parts of themselves that they can never get back.

    • @HOTD108_

    Some people over on the subreddit pointed out how Jaime's charge towards the dragon was VERY reminiscent to how Robert Baratheon's described his first kill:
    ''Mine was some Tarly boy at the battle of Summerhall. My horse took an arrow, so I was on foot, slogging through the mud. He came running at me, this dumb, highborn lad, thinking he could end the rebellion with a single swing of his sword.''
    Jamie tried the same, charging at a far greater opponent, hoping that he could end the war with a single strike- in this case killing Daenarys. Robert was in open rebellion to the crown back then, just the way Daenarys is now.
    As a small request, at the end of the season, would you mind making a resume of season 7 in the way that you do episode explanations?
    Nice clips and pictures to illustrate what characters you are talking about. Little-to-no unnecessary joking or offtopic quips.
    My parents aren't the best at english and at their age they are having a hard time remembering what happened in the prior season(s). I'd love to be able to show them a single video, illustrating the coherent narrative that progressed a year before, to get them up to speed.

      Robert's statement in that scene is one that makes no sense since he ended the war of the usurper with one swing of his warhammer (where he killed Rhaegar).

    • @ajollyoldben
      @ajollyoldben 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tyrantofthewind It makes perfect sense. He's not saying the kid was stupid because killing him wouldn't end the rebellion, but that he thought HE could end the rebellion. It was a criticism of a dumb kid over his head.

    • @jayjayson9613
      @jayjayson9613 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kreddi I saw Jamies charge as a brave move by a fearless man to put an end to this because of the carnage Danny is bringing to Westeros. He knows full well what a Targaryan can bring to Westeros, he slayed the Mad King to save the people of Kings Landing and here I believe he was thinking the same.

    • @Tyrantofthewind
      @Tyrantofthewind 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben Kusnierz, now you are making no sense. Either the statement is indicating that the kid was dumb for attacking him and trying to end the war, or he is being profoundly arrogant that the kid had no chance against him. In war, anyone is dangerous as can be seen when the greatest knight in Westeros dies by being stabbed in the back by Howland Reed. By your logic, anyone who approached Robert and died was being a fool because they thought they could end the war. Sounds like monday morning quarterbacking to the extreme.

    I would just like to point out that Cersei actually gained from returning the gold to the Iron Bank because that stopped them from investing in Dany instead. So Cersei actually gained a monetary ally by doing this, had she just kept the gold she would have gained presumably the same amount of money the bank would give her but at the same time lose the banks support to Dany.

      Nah, quick alliance. They need to unite to fight the WW. No time for that stuff - at least in the show. The books might draw this out more. In the show we are just racing through the main plot points. No time for anymore side plots in the remaining episodes of this show. It will all go pretty much straight forward in my opinion focusing only on the main plot points and resolve them. There aren't enough episodes in the show left - books (if ever released) will for sure have more subplots and less teleporting.

    Cannot believe you didn't cover how Jaime's past comes back to hunt him.
    Jaime killed the mad king for he wanted to kill his people, "burn them all". Here Jaime finds all his people being burned to death by another targaryen. Jaime expressed to Brienne that regardless of what others think of him, he essentially sleeps at night because he knows he saved westeros from an evil king. However, with his once heroic feat now blown away with the ash of his men, Jaime will be left with only the guilt of his families terrible actions. Seeing Danny stumble off her dragon and turn her back to the enemy was probably mind blowing to him. I'd bet the pause before his charge was due to shock rather than him making a risk evaluation.
    With Jaime holding a valyrian steel sword, his growing animosity toward cersei, Cersei willing to marry another, the learning of tyrion's innocence, everyone questioning him on Cersei as a good ruler, and the revelation that his previous acts of heroism no longer have any weight to them, will likely result in him supporting John later down the line.

    I really don't think Visenya's strategy with the Eyrie would work on Kingslanding.
    First off, the Eyrie's only defenses were it's mountains and the castles on the way. Not an army had ever made it's way up to the actual castle, and it had zero anti-siege infrastructure.
    Kingslanding, on the other hand, has been shown to have hundreds of catapults and is now being outfitted with scorpion balistae that would make the "ride a single dragon to the center" plan a pretty idiotic suicide.
    Second, the Eyrie happened after a few massive displays of power by the dragons, with Harrenhall melted, the lords of the Stormlands defeated and right after Visenya burned and sunk almost the entirety of the Eyrie's naval fleet to the bottom of the ocean *by herself*. After *these* displays of power, she just showed up on the Eyrie with Vhagar and went "sup, wanna die too?". That really isn't a position in which Danaerys, after two defeats, is in.
    Lastly, there is the matter that she's been advised that Cersei is simply batshit crazy. She knows that Cersei blew up a third of the city and it's population to kill two of her political enemies, so there is no question that if she threatens Cersei with "surrender or the city burns" Cersei will just unleash her catapults and balistae on the dragons and from there is a no win position for Danys, either her dragons die, she flees and is proved a coward or melts Kingslanding to the ground and is proved a monster.
    I think using the dragons to kill soldiers and display their power is the perfect way for her to work up to a position where the mere presence of the dragons leads to peaceful surrender. If she's gonna have to destroy things to win the war, better it be soldiers who just finished annihilating one of her allies than peasants who had nothing to do with the fight in the first place.

    • @mordirit8727
      @mordirit8727 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Also saying Visenya didn't "fight anyone or burn anything" is just wrong, the Targaryen fleet was defeated trying to approach by the Arryn fleet, and Visenya completely destroyed the Arryn fleet before going to the castle. That's likely a few dozens of thousands of soldiers burned and drowned.

      There's actually a very good reason that this season isn't 10 episodes. It's called $100 million dollars. The top billing actors got a pay rise from ~$300,000 to $1.1 million this season. By cutting down 20 episodes to 13, they've saved $40 million on the top five actors alone.
      It's incredibly weird that they've said that this is because there's not enough story left to tell, when this season's episodes are quite clearly rushing through the plot.

    • @ReporterRed
      @ReporterRed 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's clearly monetary reasons, but that doesn't sound as good, so they just use the story excuse. There's plenty of story for two more seasons of 10 episodes, it's complete bullshit that there isn't, unless they can't come up with enough individual scenes like they used to. Budget is the reason as to why there are fewer episodes.

      Context is everything. I don't even like Daenerys all that much but she's still justified. The Mad King burned innocent civilians. Daenerys burns Soldiers fighting in a battle. The Red Wedding isn't a good analogy, because the Starks and the Northern Army should have been protected by Guestright: they were invited by the Freys and betrayed, which is an egregious sin in Westerosi culture. If they were burned alive after being captured, it wouldn't have been NEARLY as horrible an action as the Red Wedding, because of CONTEXT.
      Is burning alive a horrible way to go for a Soldier? Sure. I'm a Soldier, I wouldn't want to go that way. But so is having your throat cut with a sword or being run through with a spear: you're talking about medieval warfare, and Westeros does not have anything like the Geneva Conventions determining what methods are and aren't acceptable for Soldiers killing Soldiers in war. Plus you're talking about a place and time where torture is perfectly acceptable, which is far worse than being burned alive on a battlefield.

      The thing is that Dany's entire storyline has been built up to this point for the last 6 seasons. It is just not fair, not that GoT ever was fair, to root for the other side. What I mean is that it should really have been easy for her to defeat Cersei, if the show runners hadn't skipped a lot of parts and made her make some stupid decisions.
      Her entire story led up to this point, and currently it's really disappointing.
      On the other hand, I get why you would care for Jamie - I really like his character as well and wouldn't want him to die. But I totally disagree with what the show writers said in the inside the episode, or the BTS of the battle, that you should have no idea who to root for. Lannisters are evil, not every man ofc, but their whole concept has been built up as very pragmatic, who won't hesitate to do the right thing for their house and their survival whilst not giving a flying fuck about others. And that has lead to some terrible things that made them look like monsters and for many ppl, myself included, to root against them and want to see them defeated for a change :p

    Glad you nailed the point about the somber moments where a character is gazing shocked at the chaos of battle.
    One of my favourite parts of the book is where Tyrion was describing his first battle against the North with the hill tribes on his side (the one where he somehow was knocked out for the full thing without brain damage in the show.)
    Definitely makes you actually think of the implications of war instead of evoking a feeling of gratioutous violence for entertainments sake.

    Am I the only one who noticed how deep the sea was just off the shoreline that Jamie got pushed into? He gets pushed into the sea just 2-3 meters from the shore and suddenly it's like over 15 meters deep. While that is possible and maybe more often where the water meets cliffs rather than sand. Look at how flat the shoreline is... To me it looked really stupid in the show when that happened and it just feels like they threw it in there to have as a cliffhanger to end the episode with. I'll start selling all my belongings if it turns out he drowned there.

    I'm still confused about how Dorne has been knocked out of the war. Sure, the Sand Snakes and Ellaria are gone, but weren't they on their way to pick up the Dornish troops when ambushed by Euron? Aren't all the Martell banners still just sitting in Dorne?

    • @slitor
      @slitor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Sand Snakes took power with a coup, with the coup makers incapacitated Dorn is now in a succession crisis.
      And most probably a few want to reestablish the old policies of Doran, and I many yet were probably outraged by the wipeout of the Martell line.(to revenge the death of a Martell)

    I'd just like to point out that Arya using Needle to block and deflect is absolutely ridiculous, because Needle is a weapon meant for stabbing and its thin blade is not sturdy enough to be handled in such a way, not to mention that Brienne is significantly older, stronger and heavier than Arya, meaning that she could have easily at least chipped Needle even with a sparring sword. Arya, according to her age and training, should depend on quick movements and evasion, not tanking. She is not built to withstand anything, she is built to dodge. I don't know why the fight was choreographed like this.

First of all, the name Scorpion, like their poisonous sting, and secondly they're made my Qyburn who is notoriously shady. Thirdly, what;s the chance you'll actually hit a dragon in the eyeball from that far? It makes way more sense to poison the bolt and just hit it anywhere where it'll stick. Just to point out, if people starve in the North, Sansa will open Winterfell to the people. That's why she did that, she said the peasants can't carry wagons load of food to Winterfell during winter so she's taking theirs as a precaution if people need to retreat to Winterfell. Cersei isn't letting anyone in to King's Landing, the peasants will starve that are even inside the city.

    I would like to know this : why does no one in the North want to behead Jon for leaving the Night's Watch? Nobody knows he dies and was brought back to Melisandre. For almost everyone on Westeros right now except Davos, Melisandre, Tormund and a few members of the Night's Watch (and maybe Bran too), Jon broke his vows and should be beheaded for it.

      Well everyone in Castle Black can attest to his death and resurrection, so the proof is there. It's still strange that no one questions it, and stranger still that he as a character hasn't changed much because of it. All the other characters who share this experience have been changed by it. Beric Dondarrion says he loses something every time he comes back, Cat in the books is nothing like her former self. Even if that didn't alter him for whatever reason, you'd think his outlook & approach to life would change in the same fashion as someone in the real world narrowly surviving a car accident or some other near death experience.

    Why should Daenerys apologize for being powerful? That's like saying a genius should intentionally mark wrong answers on a test so that everyone else in the class can get a curve. Tyrion had wildfire and he used it against Stannis. The Wildlings had giants and they used them in the battle for the Wall despite having more than enough men. Yet Daenerys is the one who has to apologize for using what she has. Why should she be labeled evil because she has a dragon and after HOLDING BACK is embracing this power instead of running from it?

    2:10. The reason she must provide the gold first is to prove that she can pay the debt and not have to worry about interest. Hell, the guy even mentions this. Once the debt is paid, a new loan is negotiated from a much better stance. Did you learn anything in school?

    You can tell the quality of the season from Alt Shift X's videos. All they can do in their videos is point out the obvious and lightly brush the many plot holes. Whereas the previous seasons touched upon the lore and almost every episode had depth.

      Bran is No More only the 3 Eyed Raven remains. The 3 Eyed Raven is an ancient shapeshifter who took over Bran's body. The 3 Eyed Raven is hardly human.

      You didn't understand shit if you seriously believe that.
      Bran is still Bran, he still retains his individuality, it's just that he has transcended humans and their petty interactions and emotions after all the information and powers he gained.
      He realized how his past self and everyone else he has known before his transformation are not important at all after the knowledge of past experience of everyone that has ever lived has been shoved into his head.
      If anything, it's Bran that absorbed the Three Eyed Raven and all the greenseers (Old Gods) who became one with the weirwood after their death.

    • @theresasteward1506
      @theresasteward1506 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No look again at the fight between the Night King and the 3 Eyed Raven. The 3 Eyed Raven shapeshifts from the Night King. He become incorporeal then wargs into the nearest Weirwood tree. Bran attached to the Weirwood now is taken over partially but the transfer is not complete. He has to touch a different Weirwood for the transfer completion. Once that occurred the 3 Eyed Raven now has complete control over Bran's body. Bran Stark is now one of multiple of memories controlled by the 3 Eyed Raven.

    I think Game of Thrones messed up, big time.
    I would not be so pissed if it this was not Game of Thrones. If this was any other show, I would be like "that was a pretty cool episode, dragons and battle and shit".
    But no.
    This is a series that stood for vulnerability of characters. It drew tension from that very fact. Anyone could die. Most of the time it felt real. Not real in like real life, but in a way that you could not smell the written script behind it. It all made sense in the created universe.
    I was hoping for someone to die. I really did. They could've killed a dragon or even more. But the showrunners did not. The characters don't seem to die when they likely would, but more when the script says so.
    When I saw Jaime and Bronn, pretty much unharmed, surrounded by burned ground and men, it felt symbolic for my current opinion.
    I cannot really think about any likeable character that seems to be in danger. Most of them are holed up in some castle and even if everything around them is being burned to crisps, they still manage to survive by some ex machina.
    Sure, you could argue with the White Walkers being a constant threat to everyone in Westeros but it seems that for every foot they step closer to the wall, any other character in the show is likely to travel from one castle to another on the opposite side of the continent.
    I am not sure if anyone is going to read this, but hey, it sure felt good to post my opinion.
    Don't get me wrong, I still like the show. I would not be nitpicking if i would not love it. It just frustrates me sometimes.
    Greetings

      He did not look scared, I suspect he understood, the consequences of his actions giving this to her, setting future events into motion that he has already seen. he already knows what she will do, and everyone else. nothing to fear, if anything, he is emotionally detached.

    Why do people think the Dotharki are so unstoppable the dragon did most the work

    • @silverfyn6100
      @silverfyn6100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The dothraki would have easily taken that battle by themselves but would probably have suffered heavy loses penetrating the lannister shield wall. Losses Dany can't afford after losing half her allies already. Drogon breaking the lannisters formation made them easier prey for the Dothraki screamers.

      Agreed. It's been a while that I felt like this over a GoT episode. And, yes, it's hard to avoid spoilers for episode 6 in general. There are a ton of video thumbnails I've seen that spoil all the biggest moments. My advice for anyone who doesn't want to get spoiled is, swallow your ethical principles this time a and just watch it (this one is in HD and good sound quality) before some idiot spoils everything for you.

      Dany is unlikeable person, wearing valyrian steel plot armor. Even Cercei is more interesting, whan this Maria De Sueberg (half-dragon, half-princess, half-elf, half-god, breaker of chairs, mother of miserable old shit, Khaness of Mongols).
      GRR Martin surely loves Mary Sues and love triangles.

      She has no reliable way of knowing what was in the convoy so even though we know food is in there Dany does not and she was most likely trying to make sure that Cersei would not get any of those resourses by destroying them.
