Lovely filming, the kind of photography used in food shots, beautifully done. My thoughts; it's a shame not to have used the old brass tacks again and for the edge of the wood to show. It seemed a bit odd to glue the legs on after the upholstery was done. Personally I would have rather seem a piece of plain coloured (maybe a golden yellow - good quality velvet used, I found the print a little quirky for the piece. Much work went into the underside of the wood which won't be seen, again it seems a shame to have lost the wooden edge and now to be able to see the finished edge of the upholstery underneath.
I agree, there doesn't seem like a lot of reason to restore the woodwork if it gets hidden. The piece is now no longer restored to original. Nice result but an odd choice. I assume the client wanted it this way.
I wanted to keep the wood. The legs would have bothered if I had glued them on beforehand. The fabric has been made to match the chair from the last video. Both pieces of furniture get a friend who wanted it that way.
My thoughts too, the lovely thing was the row of tacks and the wooden edging now both gone, however if a client wanted that what can you do. @@gordonlawton8815
I really appreciate the amount of care that you put into creating interesting shots. Off hand I can't think of another TH-cam creator who captures such visually pleasing video.
Beautifully done! Loved how you made the filler piece look like it always was there. I would have done a lighter fabric because of the darker stain. That way, they don't compete but complement.
Not big fan of the fabric at the end, and I wish the little decorative nails were cleaned up and used in the final result, but it still looks far better than it did originally. Im sure your friend will love it
When working with bold fabric patterns like that, it makes a world of difference to template and fussy cut the fabric to align the print with the finished piece. That way you don't end up with the illusion of a beheaded bird on it.
The wood work was first class, the upholstery made me wince, horsehair is like gold dust, you should reuse it, if it's dirty you wash it. All those staples used, will one day have to be removed by some poor upholsterer, weakening the frame. Golden rule , use as few as you can get away with or use tacks. The use of foam and shoddy ,will give a very short lifespan to your work.
I remember back in the day that footstools for the big thing I think it looks great don't worry about the naysayers they want to do it their way they can get their own channel
I glued it back together originally. This put me back in reasonable shape. But there were many cavities. So I sawed it open again and put in a new piece the width of the saw. Thanks to this, it kept its shape, its original size and got a better connection.
Chris
You usually do a great work, but this time (I guess you needed to make this quickly) you did two things that I didn't like too much: #1.- you hammered old unnecessary nails into the wood, making this much more difficult to repair and restore into the future. #2.- You used a method of covering with upholstery fabric that hides the nice molding around the cushion and you didn't put the row of round head tacks around it, a nice feature in the original upholstery.
Hi. I'm writing you a reply on behalf of all the comments. I would like to thank you for all the nice comments you have written me - I am very happy that you like my videos. Simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Sorry for being negative. Covering up the molds and driving the old nails in to the wood is not a good practice. And slowing down your every move produce a longer vedio for TH-cam is not either. BE NATURAL.
You covered up the wood molding, a shame.
The person who gets the stool wanted it that way.
Yeah, sadly 😢
The edge looks pretty chewed up and chipped.
Give me the old one anyway, with the molding visible and the upholstery brass-headed tacks. All the patina removed😥
@@chrigunrestauration thank you for information!
This is the type of video I really enjoy - watching you repair damaged parts of your restoration projects. Thank you.

Wow!!! Espectacular!!

Charming foot stool. Nice job. Love the selection of fabric.

Perfekt für mich! Wie schön!❤
Das freut mich! 😀
