I have been waiting for this video since I first subscribed. I absolutely love VR VSs and I have 4 of them. 2 wagons and 2 Statesmans. Out of all the commodores my family has owned in my lifetime (VL, VS, VY, VF) the VSs are probably the best of the lot imo. I have done around 30.000kms in my wagon since I registered it in August 2022 and am absolutely head over heels in love with it. I go everywhere with it and it has never let me down. I have been over every inch of the car and know it like the back of my hand. The only real fault is the auto leaks a little for some reason and slips when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. I don't skid it and always maintain it. It only gets the best parts, oils and detailing products. I bought it December 2019 for $600 a month before my 16th birthday. Took me 2.5 years to save up the money to repair it (only really needed suspension bushes plus a couple other minor things) and register it. I bought it with around 183k and I am sitting at around 212 - 213k. This car will be with me forever and I can't be apart from it. I often say that when I die, I will be cremated and have my urn put in the dash. It's not the perfect example but it's perfect to me and I often get told it's one of the cleanest wagons around.
I do love a good ol standard VR/VS. Was my first car and still have it thankfully. Its at that age where so many things need adressing simply from a harsh long life. I dont have funds to get her all nice and proper but will subscribe to hopefully see this one get some love in the future👍🏼
I would say, put a compression tester on the engine to see if the rings need to be done. Then just give it a freshen up and keep it base stock. Then just a basic hand rub and give it a coat of paint. Sometimes these a sweet just being base standard.
I have a series 2 s pack ute in my shed. Had it for ages. Got big plans for it but the budget isn t matching at them moment. Btw i built custom enclosures for two 10 inch subs that live behind the seats. Sounds great but does reduce leg room. Im 5 11 but if you are 6 1 it would be a drama. Dont sell it... hard to find solid complete ones now
I had a vn with 460.000km was strong ,and i think the eco tech is better than the buick so lets see what my vx dose i got the vx wagon at 220.000 its almost 300.000 still strong
I’m very keen on doing a cleanup and v8 manual swap. If you wanted to sell it let me know !!! I’d keep u in the loop with the build and progress and it’s not gonna go on a track or anything! Experienced body worker and avid amature mechanic machinist !
still got the ute? you could do a built ecotec no turbo or supercharge just n/a with internal engine mods there's the 10% better......some will hate because its still a 6 but who cares
Matey, I understand completely that you’re not keen on selling it. But…….I do have a 15 year old nephew that I’d love to do an uncle & nephew project with.. back to original I’m 45, able and would love to spend time bringing that girl back to life. He wants to be a mechanic..his dad who is an engineer, simply won’t spend time or money with him A because he doesn’t think commodore utes are worth saving & B… he think mechanical work is beneath his young bloke learning. I’m a panel beater buy trade, had one as my first apprentice car in 1996. I’ve looked a lot of places online & either find beat to a pulp utes or utes that are too much to buy. I’d love to purchase off you, canopy & all.. I am serious & have cash. I live near Tamworth NSW..and am happy talk however & whenever possible…even if you still say no. Thank you in advance & kindest regards, Mat
That's touching mate. I'll keep you and your nephew in mind, however it is unlikely I will sell it. I hope that you and your nephew find a car. If you like, I can make a video on my TikTok about this if you'd like? I have a decent following and I'm sure we could find something
Thank you kindly matey for your reply. I really appreciate you getting back to me. I’m sure we’ll find something for the little dude. And again, your thoughts & consideration is very much appreciated. I’ll keep a look out on your videos & tick tock. Cheers again champion
Your best bet is keeping it for a cold winter day because once you sell it you’ll never see it again

I think this project would really suit getting all new standard suspension. And it becoming a parts getter and road trip vehicle

Hmmm, 3 seater, canopy, worn out engine 🤔 seems like some one has the perfect drag and drive build
Looks pretty awesome for 500,000 kms
