- QUEEN Elizabeth will deliver her 65th Queen’s Speech to parliament today, October 14.
The speech is used to set out what the government intends to do during the next session of parliament and what the plans for the future are.
SCHEDULE:
NEXT - Boris Johnson departs 10 Downing Street and travels the short distance to the House of Commons
1030 - MPs start gathering in the House of Commons and Lords start gathering in the House of Lords
1100 - Royal Procession - Queen Elizabeth leaves Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession to the Houses of Parliament
1115 APPROX - MPs are called from the Chamber to listen to the Queens' speech
1130 APPROX The Queen reads out speech from the throne in the House of Lords.
1430 Johnson and Corbyn return to the House of Commons Chamber to debate the speech

Another video of this event shows a good view of Skinner's face as he says he won't go. His face shows his pain. He already had coronary surgery and a hip replacement. He was 86 - 87 years of age at this event. Though he had a vast history of heckling Black Rod in the past, that time, he really indicated he could not walk the hall and stand for nearly an hour in the Lords chamber as the Queen spoke. It was time for him to retire, no matter whom replaced him.
For a life long heckler, this was low energy

Ah, dennis skinner. The man is bound by his allegiance to labour being the longest serving member but it's pretty clear that he's in the wrong place. He voted to leave the EU and wants to abolish the house of lords, he should join the brexit party.

And he also voted for an extension to article 50 and 2nd referendum. Not sure how much you know about the Labour Party but they are the ones who advocate an elected second chamber/no second chamber.

I live 20 minutes away from his constituency so my ear may be slightly more attuned. I think he actually said 'no, I'm not bothering' which is slightly more amusing. It could be a line from the Royal Family TV show. He should retire. He's never been the sharpest tool in the box and age has made it worse.

Skinner hates the monarchy, but what does he do as an MP? Has he authored any bills? Served as a minister or shadow minister? He has been an MP since the 1970s.
