Gorgeous car. Amazing to see what you can do with it on track.

An alternative way to measure pad material thickness, is to use the back of the dial caliper. Zero math necessary. Glad the car is holding up!

I got the 4BW a few weeks ago. Apparently nobody but GM makes brake pads for it yet. The pad is different than my C7Z06/Camaro SS/ATS-V that all use the 1405 Carbotech pad or 649 in Hawk part nos. Are you having trouble getting track pads? Carbotech has told me that they will cut a backing plate and put whatever compound I want on it if I send them a tracing of the pad backing plate and measure the pad/plate thickness. I did that yesterday and the tracing is in the mail to them. If you need it, send the tracing to Carbotech in Ohio. I think your pads are a bit bigger than the 4 BW.

That's really interesting as I'd heard the 4BW had the same pads as the C7/Camaro/ATS-V. Have you checked with Essex Parts? They are listing the same pads for the 4BW as those other cars. Mine is a 5BW with carbon ceramics so I'm just running the stock pads. Let me know what you find out as I'm tempted to get a 4BW as a track toy.

How do you rate the fun factor between it and the Corvette's. I have sold the C7Z06 and when I trade the ATS-V I expect I will keep with one car and it will either be the CT5-V BW or the CT4-V BW. I actually do like the balance of the smaller car with less weight on the nose. And apparently my reservation for the C8Z06 is at best second year, possibly even third year.

I have a friend with a 4BW on order and I can't wait to see what it's like on track. The 5BW is an awesome road car and does well on track for what it is - but it is a 4100+ lb sedan. It all comes down to your priorities, but my guess is that if you plan to track it regularly the 4BW will be more fun. However, I love the thrust and sound of the LT4 so it was the only choice for me. If they made a 4BW with the LT4 I'd be all in!

Better off with non ceramic set up, if tracking to expensive to replace ceramics, did you burnishing the brakes,as mentioned in owners manual

Great to hear from you again Truth. As you know, this isn't my primary track car and I'm doing this largely just to see what the big girl can do. I did burnish the brakes at a previous track day and you can see that from the white color to the pads. As far as CCBs go, I'm well aware of the conventional wisdom about their track worthiness but I also know there have been advances in CCB technology. I'm pretty sure the front brakes on this car are the same as the C8 Z06 so I'm interested in providing some real work data on how they do on track.
