  • I had to install an electric fence to try and stop my boxer from jumping the fence. His first encounter was caught on video. It is funny to watch this. Hopefully, he will learn that jumping the fence is just not worth it!!!

    Sadly it looked like the dog only learned to fear the yard they were trapped in rather than to leave the fence alone. Electric fencing works better for teaching animals to stay far away from fences in big yards. Being too close in the kennel like that just makes their 'home' feel unsafe.

      @@txryder79 why are those your only options?
      Ive had dogs since I was 13. I've never even owned a kennel. The dogs always go where I go. They are my friends, not my property. ...ok as Ive gotten older, they are more like my kids but still. lol.
      Do you keep your kids in a concrete yard fenced in outside?
      or in a kennel?
      Why do you do it to your dogs?
      Just let it inside when you are inside, and it wont feel the need to get out. Just like kids they will make messes, but you teach them not to and they stop... and it may take a while.... just like kids...
      Honestly when your dog loves you, you dont even need to train them from my experience. They just learn what you want. Install a doggy door. leave your glass sliding door open enough for them. If a thief wants in your house bad enough, shooting your dog is a lot louder than breaking that glass door to get in. Your house is safer with the dog inside and the door open, than it is with the dog locked up and the house empty. Isnt that the point of getting a dog? For security?

    Everyone is commenting about how bad it is to keep dogs fenced up and I understand but I let my dogs loose and he never came back then about couple days later a man showed up at our door and asked us if that's our dog that got killed by a coyote and we said yes it's our dog

    • @terryfuldsgaming7995
      @terryfuldsgaming7995 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      dude... if your dog runs away, thats an issue... Did you just get him? Did he KNOW he was YOUR dog? Dogs are not items. Just cuz you bring one home doesnt mean it loves you. They are living creatures. They like and dislike just like you do. You have to spend time having fun with it for a while before it knows where home is. You have to make it WANT to call your house home.
      I would guess by your comment you are a very black and white thinker. You know what the middle ground is between leaving your dog out for the coyotes and leaving it in a tiny concrete yard is? literally everything... A larger yard, a grass yard, in the house with you...
      Hell, I live where there are coyotes also and I just have a HUGE doggy door for my shepard and until recently my 15 year old staffy. They could go out to the back yard any time they need to to go to the bathroom. I installed the door for them on the porch, and put up a fence in the backyard so it doesn't go out to the field with the coyotes and foxes yipping and howling at night. A person would have to be insane to jump the fence and come in that doggy door at night to come face to face with my beastie, and I can close the main door when I'm gone during the day. Its called a symbiotic relationship. He protects me, I feed him and give him as much freedom as I can.
      Its not rocket science, just think how you would want to be treated if you were the dog. And I dont think you would want to be left out with the coyotes, or forced to sleep on concrete...

      You get a dog as a companion in the city, if you lived out in the wild then fine. A dog in the wild has a lot of uses but it's also it's natural (instinct) out in the wild as opposed to the city.
      You don't get guard dogs, you get work dogs. Used for hunting, tracking, pulling (sleds, a dozen of dogs) or even out there, for plain companionship.

    I have had an electric fence. Also called a hot wire. Not hard to figure out how it adopted that name. I have owned everything from horses, cows, dogs and more. What you just did was animal cruelty. Trapped a dog in a 10'x10' size area. Then shock the crap out of him. Then just fix the electric fence and put the dog back. Animals and humans have a natural fight or flight instinct. That dog was in full flight mode. It didn't care about that fence. The dog should have been able to retreat to a comfortable place or safety zone where it can think about what just happened. A proper or correct way would have been to do your whole fence top in your backyard. The dog would have realized the top of any fence is off limits. And it could of ran off and thought about what happen. Where it happen at. And what it was doing and where it was at when it experienced the shock. Then it wouldn't of been so bad. All My dogs have been got hit one and then. Never wanted to move in that area of the yard again.

    Funny how you think this is helpful.
    These dogs need a lot of space; you can't just confine one, and with electric fences at that. They shouldn't be up there, a small shock and the dog could get seriously hurt if it falls, you know? Besides, it's not good to put it in distress like that. Perhaps YOU are the one who needs a lesson.

      Actually, the electric fence should be up there, because the guy who owns it, put it up there. He can confine his dog, with an electric fence, at that. Do you know what is on the other side of that fence?
      An electric fence, could save that dogs life. In most places, it's illegal for a dog to roam free, because all sorts of bad things can happen, It could cause a traffic accident, get run over by a car, attack someone or get attacked by someone, just to name a few.

    I use electric fences for every barrier it is a physical and physiological barrier they have to respect the fence. The fence shock is harmless it turns amps into volts. Amps kill volts feel. City people need to hold their comments on stuff they don't know anything about.

    • @tescofood
      @tescofood 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Ryan Benish You don't know anything about electricity. The only thing sad going on here is a dog breaking it's leg in-between the fence then being put down because it's dumb ass owner can't afford pet insurance.

    • @tescofood
      @tescofood 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ryan Benish and on another note, since the video is not totally related (lets keep things related here); when you say volts feel. What sorcery is this? lmfao.
      I mean if we can just think about a Hose pipe for a second:
      The diameter of the pipe is the Voltage.
      The force of the water flowing out the end of the pipe is the Amperage.
      Volts* Amps = Watts. They are totally related and not unrelated like you make them out to be. There are both amps and volts present in an electric fence you dumb fuck.

    • @grafton261
      @grafton261 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ford Mayhem you don't seem to understand Ryan's comment about Amps Killing but volts are felt , amps at about 70 + volts will give one hell of a boot and for some that might be enough to kill you at 110volts it will do even more , now when the volts are in the 1000's but with only a few milliamps ( like electric fences ) it will boot you good but it won't do anything more you only "Feel it" ( unless you have a weak heart or a pacemaker ) , and it you really think I am bullshitting you go and do some study on electrical theory and learn for yourself

      The dog would have yelped in pain if he had broken his leg and he wouldn't have landed anywhere near so well at the end of the vid . you are over reacting to what is a simple common sense way of keeping his dog safe while he isn't able to be there , the owner likely does walk his dog regularly , some dogs will always want to get out and explore , and even if they don't usually do it , there is always a bitch on heat to get them motivated to jump the fence .

    Come on people! WATCH DOGS 101 to find the dog that suits your lifestyle and environment.
    I can't see the whole property, but it looks like this small space is the dog's only area to move in? It is NOT adequate. He is trying to escape because he is on concrete with no grass or space to run. It is cruel to keep a dog like that in an area like that. Put it in a big back yard with lots of lawn and a friend and (if it is neutered) it won't try to leave. I assume you are already walking it once a day.
    Summary: Make the dog happy and your problem (and his) will be solved.

    We just installed a hot fence because our 1 year old Lab.. the puppy of our 5 year old non fence jumper( harmless yet is big and charges at strangers to lick them to death)
    Jumps the fence every day. we tried everything..
    Some people stated ' give the dog to someone with other dogs or move to somewhere with land.. so rather than give the dog a little shock that after a few attempts the dog will learn and not jump the fence anymore. Or.. let's sell the house find another uproot the kids change jobs and schools and move out in to the country.. WHERE YOU WILL END UP PUTTING A BIGGER HOT FENCE UP. BECAUSE THE DOG JUMPED THE DAM FENCE..
    it's no different from you subbing your toe.. infact subbing your toe hurts way worse than the plus shock it gives you. So unless you have experienced an escape artist I suggest you quit while your ahead.

    • @RealCadde
      @RealCadde 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clear Shots Yep, put your needs before the family members needs. That dog is a family member.If you don't want it to jump the fence you have to train it to not do that, without abusing it.
      If that fails, either let a professional do it or install a large cage around the whole perimeter so he can't get out at all.
      I hope animal control finds out where you live and takes the dog from you and throws you in prison.

    • @clearshots9466
      @clearshots9466 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the fence worked and the local police were thankful as he is no longer jumping the fence due to the hot fence.

    • @clearshots9466
      @clearshots9466 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cadde also animal control will not take you to prison for installing an electric pulse fence.. I see your all over everyone's comments maybe your just that sad. And stupid. I shall enjoy reading your "let's stir them up" comments as I think that's your intention.

    • @RealCadde
      @RealCadde 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Clear Shots Cows and other cattle is a different story. They are not so easily trained and they also live that life from the earliest of their days so even as calves they know that the "fence is bad".
      Horses on the other hand can be trained to stay, your point about them is completely invalid.
      Also, animal control will imprison you for animal cruelty. Just because YOU don't think electrocuting your dog is cruel doesn't mean it isn't cruel.
      Nor does the opinions of your local police officers matter, they are not the jury.
      Finally, if the law doesn't deal with someone being cruel to their dog, others will... violently.

    • @RockZombieIAm
      @RockZombieIAm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cadde Shut the fuck up. You make no sense. Who's gonna fight someone for install a fence to keep there nuisance of a dog out of others yards? No one. Also I don't think you know what animal control does. They don't take dogs from people unless that dog is violent.

    It is funny that you say that I should have my dog taken away, but our law enforcement and judical system will take my dog away if I do not keep him contained!!! The electric fence is not in place to hurt him. It is a tool to discourage him from even wanting to jump the fence. And I have to say, it worked. He now just looks at it and is discouraged from even attempting it anymore. So he is not being hurt, and is even safer now because of it.

She was good with other dogs except for small ones who act tuff. "Little dog syndrome". She was put down(not by the incident) due to kidney failure. His other two dogs were poisoned by antifreeze(neighbor and owner of the terrier) shortly after the incident, they were eventually put down.
