    No save is safe from The Kraken. This playthrough has been lucky so far, but we almost had our first fatalities. Who else has managed a near escape from a kraken attack?

    I love that you added tense music with the sound of a ticking clock when the kerbals were on a Laythe mission which added to the feeling that if they didn't make it on time they would die from radiation

      Glad you noticed and enjoyed that extra touch. I went into this mission with taking into consideration that I might be only coming back with 3 kerbals. One reason why I sent 6 on this mission as a contingency.

      ​@@222cubing8 yes, inspiration from interstellar, using the ticking in the music to imply the tension with completing the mission swiftly to not die from radiation.

      @@cxg2827 if I may ask, could you tell me how you come up with such elaborate missions? I've tried multiple times to get a missions like this one, but they never amount to what I originally wanted. Did you have to test the craft before you fully launched it, or did you just yolo it?

      @@wowsuchsad9557 It takes a fair bit of work, including making spreadsheets to calculate Delta-v requirements for all various phases of the mission. I usually work backwards and start with KRASH simulations, which require you to have visited the planet in the save to be able to test at it. I test the landers if they are a new design, and then develop the joolian system transfer vehicle to have the correct fuel and supplies to perform the missions. Then I created the main Jool V ship to fit it all together. As you can see from the upload schedule, The Jool videos had a long gap from the last uploads. Partially due to the time needed to design, but also the time it took to actually perform the mission. Eve was also another tricky one that took a while.

      I had a moment where I thought I lost the main engine during the explosion, but what a relief it survived. I'm not using quick-save reverts in this playthrough so whatever happens we would move forward.

    Maybe it's dumb, but I don't really like the idea of Laythe having radiation. I mean, i get why it does - it makes it more interesting to explore - but I always envisioned it as like a bit of a 'safe' world, with the exception of being very cold and far from the sun - a potential candidate for a "second" Kerbal homeworld. This video was awesome though!

      Thanks. Yea, without kerbalism radiation enabled it is exactly as you envisioned. If my career save was more around base building instead of flags and footprints, I might have disabled or tweaked the radiation configuration to make it easier for Laythe.

    Damn, Jool 5 in Kerbalism is no joke. These kerbals will return on Kerbin with their faces all melted up! Keep up the good work. Your artistic direction is spot on. Enjoying it so far! Question: Do you play with lifetime radiation? If not, what's your reason? Medical facilities on Kerbin are top notch?
    Side note, im trying to figure out how to save 3 kerbals stuck around Eve (+1 poor soul landed on it) under 200days from Kerbin before they all die of radiation (lifetime enabled). I didn't think it would be this bad after my 1st interplanetary journey in Kerbalism. Just got NERV engines, hopefully I'll figure out a design that works.

      Glad you are enjoying the series. I do not have lifetime radiation enabled, partially due to laziness with not wanting to rehire and retrain outside of the initial group of 12 astronauts I have. Most of my ships also have an RDU sickbay as I have still been learning to deal with radiation and proper shielding (pro tip: max all shielding), but once I move to playing RSS after I finish this series I will do lifetime radiation.
      That's a tight deadline! Best of luck on the rescue.

      Yea, its a fun planet pack. I was never successful to making an SSTO that worked in JNSQ Kerbin

    Incredible. How have you gotten Kerbalism to play so nicely with your parts list? I never managed to get it to work with NFE's reactor system.

      Which part doesn't work? I noticed that if you have a fission reactor installed on a ship which does not have any xenon tanks, once you switch away from it the reactor doesn't work. This is because there is nowhere for the xenon byproduct of the fission reaction to go, and makes kerbalism think it is turned off. Even if you set the reactor to dump xenon it doesnt work. I was actually troubleshooting this exact problem for this Jool V mothership and delayed me 2 weeks while I was trying to figure the problem out.

      @@cxg2827 as far as I can remember my issue stemmed from a lack of support between kerbalism and system heat. The reactors would either not have a functional module for generating power at all or they would melt down in time warp. This was almost a year ago though so maybe it has changed (still awaiting kerbalism 4.0 lol)

    How do you make your JNSQ look so awesome? Usually when I play it with scatterer and EVE it looks very bad.

      Check the forum thread. I believe there is a specific version that EVE are scatter are compatible with JNSQ. later versions appear to have issues from what I have read. scatterer-0.0772 is what I am using and Environmental_Visual_Enhancements_Redux-1.11.3.1

      In JNSQ mod Tylo have thin atmosphere and a bit weaker gravity if I remember correctly

    I enjoyed both parts, the crafts are very well designed and I haven't seen a lot of other KSP youtubers like you. By the way, what is the maximum thrust for your VASIMR Engines? I have the same mod, but the thrust for the VASIMR Engines is like 1.1 million...
    And what mod includes those reflective orange tanks and Aerospike engines for the lander?
    i've had to post this comment 3 times because my browser kept freezing every time I clicked 'Edit', so ignore the fact you probably got 3 comment notifs from me lol.

      Thanks. The VASIMR engine is the Cyclotron from Near future propulsion pack. Thrust is listed as 73.5kN in the VAB. The reflective orange tanks are from "Cryo Tanks"

      Check the mod list is the video. I believe I just installed scatter and EVE as directed in the JNSQ pack. There are specific versions you need to pick for compatability

    I've been meaning to find a pack thats sort of in the middle - difficulty wise - of vanilla and RSS. Would you say that this is around that level?

      Yea it's almost right in the middle. Almost half the delta-v compared to RSS. 5k delta-v for low orbit, ~1.6k for mun transfer. It's a moderate challenge and easy to make heavy launch vehicles if you include the various Nertea mods.

      I’ve got the whole post Kerbin mining corporation suite and still can’t find anything that looks exactly like it. I assume it’s probably in NFLV, near future aeronautics or kerbal atomics, but I don’t know which engine it is precisely.

      Check kerbal atomics, I think there are only 2 aerospikes in the pack. They have texture switches so pick one out any cycle thru the options when you right click the part and open the PAW

    I have a problem, when ever I enter lindors SOI my ship instantly explodes, and when I escape the SOI of its moons using the debug menu, it also instantly explodes, is this part of the mod or a glitch ? Also great video btw

      Thanks. That sounds like a glitch. So far all of my probes have survived missions in Lindor SOI, both in this career and the last career save with a different combo of mods. I dont use the debug menu much so maybe there is something funny happening with that? also, might want too check the F3 flight l;og to see what might be causing the explosions.

      @@cxg2827 I have 2 saves, one science and the other sandbox, after I exploded I went to the sandbox save and used the debug menu to teleport myself to lindor, but that was in the sandbox save, and when I check the f3 menu it says it is caused by overheating. The only mods I have are scatterer and jnsq.
