I just absolutely love the way he explains the "happiness" of the kerbals. Kerbals dont want to bump into other kerbals in their spaceship. Also, They want other kerbals in their spaceship
I really love the funny warning messages which pop up during play with this mod. Like "Relax, batteries are charging, the crew is allowed music again". Or "Jebediah is sweating / feels very hot" - when your climate control breaks goes offline.
Thank you, informative as always. Note for antennae: Mm - mega-metres (thousands of kms) and Gm - Giga-metres (millions of kms). As for the mod I'm of two minds about the everything in one approach. On the one hand you're going to get good integration of the various features but on the other it's more difficult to balance different aspects to your personal taste as you can with each aspect being covered by a different mod e.g. Antennae Range vs. RemoteTech vs. whatever's coming in stock. Or more or less complicated life support (Snacks/USI-LS/TAC-LS). Final issue might be conflict with other mods that implement some of the same/similar features (Orbital Decay for example is also going to implement CMEs)
The quality of life aspect sounds pretty cool in itself. Kind of gives it a 'Sims' like feel. I'm surprised no one done it till now. I already try to design some of it into my bigger ships under the stock version of the game as it is. The need for an antenna, so they could simply talk to home, is a rather nice touch. Thankfully, raging kerbals don't actually cause things to explode. Kind of what I was expecting, probably for the better, game play wise.
starting Jool mission LKO achieved starting transfer orbit Time accelerate to Jool Arrive and notice all your other missions had some problem during your acceleration that eventually ended up killing your crew.... The above will be a serious issue but I can't wait to try this one out. Makes mission planning so much more important!
within ten minutes i realize a flaw that should be fixed. that being plants strip of the hydrogen and release the oxygen harmlessly into the atmosphere. my point in this being why can't the greenhouse be used to replenish the oxygen supply.
Dominick Miller It would produce very, very, very, small amounts. We stay alive cuz plants cover 100% of the earth many times over, and even then global warming is happening
+Day R but it would still produce a tiny amount of oxygen. You could have like a billion greenhouses to support one kerbal. That could work. Haven't you heard of the experiment of a guy in a room of 1000 wheat plants in an airtight room?

Anyone else LOVES how smooth the game runs now? The laptop I have isn't that good, but it runs at a good 30fps now at low settings, once again my laptop is crap but at first I was getting less than 20fps, so it's a good upgrade!
Looks really fun. I'll be trying this for my next save. Great interface. I'm a bit worried about two things. Does it knock you out of time warp if your ships run into critical problems or is it just instant death? Do you have to micromanage your crew to shuffle then around different modules to keep them happy? That is the only thing about this that didn't really convince me. Sounds like a needless level of tedium, not to mention that some non-stock parts make transferring crew into a bug-prone process, so I try to avoid it when possible. Anyway, very informative review. Thanks so much!
you actualy can edit the configfiles in the way, that you can delete the mechanincs, like oxigen use, food and so on. with a little research you also can find out, how you can delete the mood-mechanic of the kerbals. i hope this isn't to late now after one year, but remember KSP is easy to mod so also you can do so! ;) download the mod and just copy the parts you need. (there are many ways to build the game for your own entertainment) gl hf
Fundamentally it's not going to make the save any less "mod heavy" it's just one large mod instead of a bunch of smaller mods working together, which ultimately would have the same effect on performance. The only plus side is that you only have to wait for one mod to get updated... It's just going to take the same amount of time. So really there's only one advantage to a mod like this, hand crafted balance. Which is problematic for some because it's been stated multiple times that Kerbalism is balanced for difficulty's sake and ignores the actual game play people want from it. The mod author in the past has voiced that customization, difficulty options, and turning off of specific features is not going to happen. So if the Kerbalism mod is perfect for you, then go for it, but most people have turned away from using it due to it's homework levels of preparation required to fly anywhere with it, the incompatibility with many mods' versions of storage mediums, the slow update times when a KSP patch hits, the lack of documentation, the look and size of the parts, the inability to turn off unwanted features, and of course, the mod author's attitude towards making changes to the mod based on community feedback.
Is it safe for me to say "Holy shit"? Because, Holy shit, that is complicated as hell, and is basically a survival/hardcore/realistic mode for Kerbal Space Program. I'm not sure I could handle all this. One thing I know for sure though: I would have tons of fun sending a few Kerbals into Kerbin Orbit, just to have them die of Asphyxiation. Did I say fun? I meant that I would have a very torturous time. Even with the thing telling me what I need and have, I know that I would just forget the oxygen. And if not the oxygen, then the food. And if not the food, then I would forget electricity. And if not electricity, then my kerbals would die of radiation. If not radiation, they would commit suicide, because I forgot to pack some Nintendo 3DS's.
I will have fun with sadistic "science" such as kerbal isolation studies. That should be a way to get science at the cost of reputation. Deprive your kerbal and subject them to long periods in space. I am sure the ramblings of a kerbal who spent 7 months completely alone will be interesting for the psychology majors.
KSP: But you need to manage them Kerbals like its Cities: Skylines. Oh, I didn't say you also need to rocket engineer'd along the way? (Now imagine doing this with RSS RO RP1?)
it would be really cool if kerbals could carry the OX-STAT solar panel on their back and face their back to the sun to recharge their suits, considering how small the OX-STAT is and how it only weighs 5 kg
As I see it, the best way to deal with the huge electricity requirements would be to set up beamed power using the interstellar extended mod so you don't have to carry as many huge batteries and tons of solar panels for that trip to Jool or Eeloo. I would send ahead a beamed power relay to the planet ahead of the ship that orbits far enough away to provide power for the entire mission. In fact, I think it would be fun to set up a beamed power network all around there Kerbol system so you can get power anywhere at any time so your Kerbals don't freeze or burn to death.
