Sewing Shoulder Pads into a Garment

  • Sewing Shoulder Pads into a Garment. The use of shoulder pads in our sewing projects is much more socially acceptable and something every fashion sewer should consider if needs arise.
    They enhance a garments sleeve head, giving a softer, more rounder shape. It is always a good idea to try your garment on and place the shoulder pads into position to check they are sitting right prior to sewing.

    Thanks Colleen. I have put shoulder pads in previously and stitched them (by hand) to the shoulder seam. Thanks for showing me the correct way - I will use this way in the future. I always enjoy watching your videos and have learned heaps from you. :)

    Hi Collin I think this is my first timer commenting on your blog or Page; Nice Video I Appreciate It Very Much it was very Informative. Anyways My Queries Are; Do You Have To Buy Shoulder Pads or Can You Just Make Your Own Shoulder Pads From Foam or Craft Sponge(eg.the type you stuff pillows etc. with); if you have any of those stuff within the home. 3.Just Asking Which Type is Better Using Sponge or Foam To Create Your Own Shoulder Pads for A Dress I'm Currently Working On For Someone; just Asking.I Look Forward To Your Response A.S.A.P! I have a feeling the answer is no, but is there a way you could add shoulder pads to a leather jacket? I'm trying to recreate the Thriller jacket but I'm having trouble finding leather jackets with shoulder pads already in them.

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello McKenna K. Yes you can, the depth of the shoulder pad will be the deciding factor on making sure that the shoulder line and neckline doesn't look to distorted. Go ahead and play about with different shoulder pads to achieve the look you are looking for. Good luck!
