    Great video! Only thing I would suggest is set the water heater in a water heater pan. If a small leak starts you will see the water collect in the pan and possible get the water turned off before any damage occurs to floor or sheet rock.

    I would have put a pan under it. If you have a one way check valve on your water supply, (modern supplies do) you needed an expansion tank. Also if the anode rod had been changed about every 3 years chances are your tank would have lasted a lot longer.

    • @SixthDayRanch
      @SixthDayRanch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do not because we have a pretty good water filtration and softener system at our wellhouse. If you have good water that anode will last a very long time if not indefinitely.

      Feel free to drop your questions here and we'll do our best to get them answered for you! This isn't a tough job, but definitely need to be safe about it and triple check your electrical connections before and after you are done. If basic electrical work makes you uncomfortable there's no shame in hiring out a pro - that's what they are there for! :) But if you are good on confident on safety aspects of a job like this it's definitely doable by the majority of folks! Good luck and God Bless!

    With God all things are possible like correctly identifying what you're working on. First of all folks a hot water heater is actually a steam generator. You would not ever need to heat hot water for residential home use you would only continue to heat hot water if you were trying to produce Steam. Now these nice people are probably talking about a water heater huge difference

    • @SixthDayRanch
      @SixthDayRanch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks like you know a lot about water heaters and very little about TH-cam SEO. The title was intentional because though it's incorrect the average person will search for that term. We hope the video is helpful to folks who aren't professionals and may not understand the difference. Either way thanks for dropping by and hope your day is awesome!

    Water heaters 🤦‍♂️. We put a new one in 4 years ago and had to put in another new one 2 months ago. Remember when they made things that lasted? I do.
    We had a plumber do the job because it’s propane and I just wanted it done right since I don’t mess with stuff I have no knowledge of. I walked into the room 3 hrs after the plumber left to find it shooting water out of a fitting on top and the floor covered in water. Needless to say I got the bill erased and chewed some butt, but the whole ordeal was a headache.
    We hope to get the 12 years out of this one that they say it’ll last, but I’m a realist and know better.

      Yes! We have experienced the same thing over the last several years. From refrigerators to washers and dryers. We buy name brand and it's still junk that won't last. Only thinng that helps now is hopefully the better brands have a good warranty. Even that's questionable. At this point we expect to have to replace these things more frequently. It's a shame.

      The component being replaced is called a "Hot Water Heater" it heats cold water to a temperature level acceptable for the needs of a general household. It also heats hot water within the unit to a higher temperature level as required when the thermostat on the unit which operates between a certain upper and lower temperature range calls for a higher temperature, equal to the temperature setting of the thermostat. Then it shuts off.
      Periodically therefore there is a requirement for a hot water heater to heat hot water.
