There are two major things that I think Abney park need to do: Become known to people and STAY AWESOME! (but really though not nearly enough people know about this amazing band and their epic songs and videos)
I know this song is 5 years old or older. However it speaks facts I can drive trucks too it witch mean ya song will roll that's very important it's a few of y'all's songs I can say I like. Lil turbo signing out an We gone bye bye
I love Abney Park, Their songs are so well thought out and constructed This is exactly how I have felt for such a long time, just living out my days sitting around existing, suicide seems silly, but so does fighting for survival in a broken down world filled with hate, violence and despair, with tiny pockets of joy and love barely keeping it floating. So all there is too do is try and find that one thing that gives you happiness and opens that door, but every time you get it wrong, it backfires or doesn't work out, and you find yourself back in your box, with nothing but more despair and emptiness. I hope that door opens for all of us eventually
Ben Chuut it will never , this world is this world , but you can though listen to Abbey Park after being slayed a thousands time in the thing you hate and when u find your pure darkness comeback to phone/laptop and put your earphones and listen while you laugh to yourself , it's so shit that it didn't ever matter
Thank you for finally getting back to your goth sound, while keeping it new and fresh. It's what brought a lot of us to you. The whole calliope-sounding thing got really tired really quickly. I hate to walk out during a Dragon Con show, but when the new stuff started the last time I had to run away. LOVE THIS!
...a guy up above is complaining it sounded goth, not steampunk. I can write enough songs to please everyone, but I can right each song to please everyone.
I love the goth and the steampunk. I consider myself a part of both cultures, so Abney Park always hits the sweet spot. Industrial, "calliope" - both are ear candy for me. I'm sorry you can't enjoy some of their stuff as much as the rest of us.
I don't get disliking music (videos) overall especially those by small artists. It's always just a matter of taste. No one likes everything but running around and spreading dislikes is so pointless... Although...there always have been those people who just liked the first album of any band and then couldn't stop telling everybody how bad the new stuff is...maybe those guys are here too...
+Dr Scythe I always turn it into an equation. If 300 people likes the video, and 3 people dislike it, that's a 99/100 chance of liking it. That pretty darn good!
abneypark I hope I can join in using this approach too some day :D. But indeed, even a 50:1 ratio is fantastic...and one doesn't make music for likes/dislikes..
For this "liking new album" - it will be some kind of joke, because first album is that old that not many AP fans remember it. And as I can say it's genius work, I don't have problems with liking middle era (so, steampunk one, before Ancient/Circus albums) and newest ones. I only didn't get into "Wasteland", so it was a bit of disappointment for me - but anyway, new song sounds really beautiful, so I hope this forthcoming album will be consolation for me. :> Great old-school vibes (as mentioned by someone below) mixed with more electronic that I used to remember.. how can I not like this?
I have followed these guys for a few years now and must say like the direction they are going. I have seen the live more then ten times and enjoyed every show. Saw them in Portland a couple of months ago and the energy they had was different from any other show. Loved it!! Not happy that I can not have the album till November. But will binge this song till then.
I love it, it has the slightly darker undertones your original 'Goth' music had going with the higher energy from the steampunk. lots of fun, thanks for the years of great music and awesome stories you tell through it.
An old fan/friend name Ian Hubert also makes an epic video series called Dynamo. He wrote to me a few years back and told me much of his work is heavily influenced by the Abney Park world, and he'd love to pay me back for this. This video is a collaboration between him, and us.
Great song, I cant wait to check out the new album. Just a side note the link to the Karma Pirates is broken, its missing the "ates" from the end of the link, it currently takes you to a "This Channel Does Not Exist."
Absolutely stunning! That sounds beautiful and looks bloody expensive! I need to see this web series, and I love how you worked that footage into expanding the Abney Park storyline lore as well!
so each nite he gets the wrong code does that mean he goes to The Casbah afterwards XD.. kinda scary how this future style really depicts whats really happening today, just imo, great sounds ty
That was awesome. I can't wait to buy the new album and see you at the Blue Bird Theater. And by the way You look much better without the eye shadow / liner.
What I love about your music videos is the way I can see you guys going more and more all out in each one. The quality is great, the mood is amazing, and I'm super stoked to get your new album! I don't care what anybody else says about my music preferences--you guys will always have my love. Thanks for the amazing songs!
This is as always great! I do wish you guys could come to the north of Sweden one day. Why not check out the Uma Obscura festival? They most likely need Abney Park.
I had a fan right to me about the violence and poverty in THIER home town of Mexico City. I replied, "maybe you should move." And this started a three hour discussion about how she couldn't move out of the city, because cartels owned the rule areas of Mexico. I suggested she leave the country, and she said not only could she not afford to, the world was so racist against Mexicans, she didn't know where to go. I suggested Spain, as they speak Spanish already, and she said, "the Spainish are filthy swine!" ...so I said, "I guess you have no way out," and that day I wrote this song.
@@talco1238 Heeey sorry for the 2-year late reply, but, I've read the novels, and it unlocks so much more (back)story behind Abney Park's songs. They're a good read and I highly recommend any AP fan to get them!
Totally awesome video! Why doesn't youtube have an auto repeat feature! November release - sweet. My birthday in October and spend it on your website in November - deal!
+Alarec Scarbrow You can, and you should. But only, if you follow two rules: 1) don't do that in public - it's a shame for intelligent people. 2) you should be sure, which word is meant! In this case, the starter - an ordinary person, let's call him Joshua for example - did not know, that the Capt'n brougjt a new word to our world. He took it from the medieval german word EMPORkömmling (which is a pejorative term for a royal or noble "upstart") Perhaps as opposite to the true emperor. Why did the Capt'n such a thing? Because he can! He is the Capt'n...
I always figured it was an allegory about consumerism/capitalism - "Emporos" = merchant, form which we get "emporium." Is an "emporer," therefore, someone who rules by wealth? Guess we'd need to ask the Captain.
Its set 100 years after the death of the Emperor, who had instituted the laws that caused technological stagnation (and who used a time machine to keep things that way). With him gone, society followed its natural course, and advanced technolgically. Taking the natural course of technology from 1900 to 2000, plus whatever the government was keeping hidden inside the Change Cages, it would be pretty easy for things to move along to this point. :)
+John Wass and remember the world had actually progressed to the about the 1990's, before the emoperer got his time machine. think of all the tech some one might have horded if they had a time machine.
Where is the steam punk vibe gone? For me this is the wrong direction. I miss the "old style". Over the last two albums the sound has changed to something I don't like. Btw: This is what I call flatline music. Have you ever looked at you peek meter during the recording? Remove the horrible compressor from the track. No changes in dynamic. It's for me one of the worst songs of Abney Park. Sorry.
This is just one song. Also: this song is uncompressed and unmastered. This is a raw export, straight from my DAW. So, I think maybe you are just in a grumpy mood.
don't listen to haters lol, music would be boring if it remained exactly the same album after album. I personally like most of what you put out, different or same.
Two cents from the other side... I really enjoyed the last couple of albums because they harken back to your roots and the sound that got me into Abney Park in the first place. Keep doing what you're doing!
Abney Park is really great, old stuff, new stuff, i love it all!
my favourite part of this song is the echoing steel strings, they really make the atmosphere of the whole song.
Thanks for noticing! Yes, I echo the vocal melody on bouzouki. I've never done anything like that, and I was really pleased with the result.
A very good song! I am so glad I found you guys! Your songs are as always ether fun and thoughtful or thoughtful with a twist.
It has a bit of an old-school goth Abney Park vibe. I love it.
Totally agree even though they are a steampunk band now it's good to see that they didn't leave their goth roots behind.
If you haven't gone to an Abney Park concert please go see them if you get the chance! It's an awesome experience!
There are two major things that I think Abney park need to do: Become known to people and STAY AWESOME!

It's quite a cyberpunkery vid there guys...but I still like it.

Are you now swaying towards cyberpunk/dystopian future more, Crew? :o
dang it I love this song. my imagination just goes totally wild, when listening.
I have to draw you soon. Just cause Im a huge fan 😁😁😁
Thank you for getting me into steampunk.
Did you get a top hat yet? :D
^
I love Abney Park,
Their songs are so well thought out and constructed

Ben Chuut listening to Abney park is what days must pass to , just for that moment of listening, playing games and playing with your imagination
you'll have to pry it open. The main thing what is in this song and in this video is: never stop trying.
Just keep trying. Sooner or later, you'll find the door into summer.

I love both the goth Abney park and the steampunk Abney park. Why not both? Right?
Looks a lot more cyberpunk than steam. Not at all a bad thing, I just didn't expect it. Keep being awesome.
This is awesome, should be made into a full movie!
Oh it is. cool lol
what movie?
Reminds me of Colony.
A great song, very atmospheric. The intro is especially noteworthy, both visually and musically.
Who ever dis liked this song obviously don't know good music. 😂😂👍 Awesome job like always. ♡

This song rings deep chords every time I listen to it...
So iconic.
This is fantastic!!!!!
Really nice sound taking them to a future they don't understand.
Praise the Gods!
Waiting is over...
a bit of cyberpunk. kinda like the pre-steampunk era. I like the story in this song. Great job guys
The song has a hypnotic effect . I listen to a song many times .
Песня имеет гипнотическое воздействие . Хочется слушать ещё и ещё .
I love it, it has the slightly darker undertones your original 'Goth' music had going with the higher energy from the steampunk.
lots of fun, thanks for the years of great music and awesome stories you tell through it.
its cool
Impressive song, and ditto video. Well done!
Can't stop listening
the song is great at always, but you guys have really stepped up your video quality, really blown away by this one, who did you guys get to do it?
An old fan/friend name Ian Hubert also makes an epic video series called Dynamo. He wrote to me a few years back and told me much of his work is heavily influenced by the Abney Park world, and he'd love to pay me back for this.
This video is a collaboration between him, and us.
+abneypark you have peaked my interest, I'll be sure to check him out.
Holy crap!!! AWESOME!
you guys are my favorite band all of your work is a 20/10 amazing
Great song, I cant wait to check out the new album. Just a side note the link to the Karma Pirates is broken, its missing the "ates" from the end of the link, it currently takes you to a "This Channel Does Not Exist."
Thanks! I'll fix that!
I don't mean to be breathin' down yer necks, lads, but the link still isn't fixed.
Again, sorry for bein' so blunt about it. ^^;;
Very nice guys! And thanks for turning me on to a new webseries!
Thanks for always making great music. I am glad to be a fan since early 2013.
Absolutely stunning! That sounds beautiful and looks bloody expensive! I need to see this web series, and I love how you worked that footage into expanding the Abney Park storyline lore as well!
Thanks!
It's actually a zero budget video, so I love that it looks expensive!
you guys as a band have always impressed me. with how u do things keep them comeing
definitely Emmy quality
That was awesome. Great song. Although yeahhhh emperor is misspelled, but oh well, one little thing.
In Abney Parks alternate history, some words evolved different spelling then in this time line.
I just made that up, but I'm sticking to it. ;)
+abneypark I'll accept your response and will use it if anyone else asks :)
Sounds great! I really dig the visuals too! :o)
so each nite he gets the wrong code does that mean he goes to The Casbah afterwards XD.. kinda scary how this future style really depicts whats really happening today, just imo, great sounds ty
keep it going. love the new album just bought it
That was awesome. I can't wait to buy the new album and see you at the Blue Bird Theater. And by the way You look much better without the eye shadow / liner.
Anyone please tell me what kind of this movies I would love to watch it.

It's a pretty somber tune & vid but I like it, makes for a nice sound when I'm working on my project :)

+abneypark wow, that's rather intense inspiration 0.0
+ZemerielAngaros yes, it is.
Excellent work, Cap!
Awesome Love This
Amazing like always. I can't believe I've never heard of you guys until a few months ago. you guys are awesome! ~
Very awesome! It's always interesting to see where your adventures have landed you guys next. Can't wait to hear the album!!
I know Ian Hubert work so hard in his series. But i prefer the history of this clip over the original work.
The song fit so good with the images.
I love that style very very much! This song is a deep experience and the video is very well done!
My question is, are we going to get a song depicting the death of the Emperor who was mentioned in this video? Or have we gotten one already?
The Emperors Wives.
Also, read the novel series of you really want to know.
People keep mentioning a web series, or novel series... am i missing an important part of these songs?
@@talco1238 Heeey sorry for the 2-year late reply, but, I've read the novels, and it unlocks so much more (back)story behind Abney Park's songs. They're a good read and I highly recommend any AP fan to get them!
I don't mind the late reply at all. :P Backstory is always nice. I'll be sure to pick them up sometime!
Amazing as always!
Totally awesome video! Why doesn't youtube have an auto repeat feature! November release - sweet. My birthday in October and spend it on your website in November - deal!
Actually, if you right click on the video, there's a loop option in the menu.
is that new?
I don't believe so, it's been there for a while.
thanks. thanks for sharing, never new about it.
you miss spelled emperor.
And you misspelled misspelled. ;-)
+Felipe TrzaskowskiIi thought the same? Whats the meaning of "emporer"? Greetings Gangleri (german tongue)
Never correct someone on their spelling or grammar without making absolutely sure you don't have any errors yourself. Common scents. ;)
+Alarec Scarbrow

Perhaps as opposite to the true emperor.
Why did the Capt'n such a thing? Because he can! He is the Capt'n...
the captain is dyslexic, he has difficulty sometimes with spelling. but he is so incredibly intelligent it is easy to overlook
is the steampunk culture evolving? its looking like the steampunk world is becoming more and more modern like in this video
Привет с Украины! Открыл для себя классную группу!
Two questions: 1) Is it spelled "Emporer" or "Emperor" and 2) are we catching a glimpse of the new tour bus in action?
the links in the info section are broken for me...
who is emporer?
I always figured it was an allegory about consumerism/capitalism - "Emporos" = merchant, form which we get "emporium." Is an "emporer," therefore, someone who rules by wealth? Guess we'd need to ask the Captain.
Ok, so don't get me wrong, I love the song, but... Did i miss something? Video looks great, but isn't it supposed to be a victorian city?
Its set 100 years after the death of the Emperor, who had instituted the laws that caused technological stagnation (and who used a time machine to keep things that way). A tad bit too much electrics/synth for my taste. I hope the other tracks from the new Album will be more accoustic-y.
this makes me sad :(
why?
because the video and the lyrics have a vibe of hopelessness in them, and it's pretty dark overall. And the captain looks sad too..
Marillenmarmeladenpalatschinke ah i see what you mean you are indeed right still a great music but the it does have that vibe.
Tigerjuhhh
The music is good, just no party track :)
The door opens at the end, he got the code right, he found his place
EAch album is better that the next one. It seems this one will not be the exception.
Wow folks, I have the impression that it's going darker inspiration-wise?
Not a negative criticism though...
Russian love you!!!
Cyberpunk? Curious, I wonder what this is about.

nice song. but I'm confused by the video art. I didn't see any steam punk in there. maybe some diesel punk, sure. but no steam.
Abney Parks story is one of time travel, which by its very nature means many different eras.
abneypark
Oh, my apologies then. I thought the time travel thing was the origin story, not an on-going story.
Then, very well done!
