That shifter needs a new bushing kit for the linkage.
Absolutely to much slack in the shifter
Personally I like my old cars slightly beaten up looking when I sit on the inside I can see, smell and feel the last 60 years of its life. Cracks and peeling on the paint, seats, steering wheel, knobs and dashboard make it more beautiful.
That pulls like one of the anemic boat anchor 454s or it just needs some tuning.

I would call that a bodymans special mechanical is sorted needs a few tweaks but needs blown apart stripped body worked and painted
That car has a lot of stories to tell. Reminds me of the cars we drove back in the day, when we couldn't afford better.

I had a 64 impala I put my gauges under the the dash never ever in the dash that dash is too hard to repair

I would take that gear shift and put a little heat to it and offset it away from the seat .

It’s the filler neck on the tank its not the tank leaking. Yes you are correct will we not be replacing the tank. This is how the car is take it or leave it

This 64 impala is better than the one in the showroom. Needs paint and get rid of the antenna on the left rear only supposed to have one. All those gauges on the dash look stupid.

Just remember this old Impala can be trans formed for about 20k and after all is said and done. So you do the math and us old guys will walk away with 40 k in the bank. So think about it.
So you are going to sell for 81900? 64 was not a popular year and I don’t see any SS badges on it.
$40K may be enthusiastic, but you WILL be on the positive side of the ledgers! 😊 Depending on your skill set, you can do most of this on your own. If you are fortunate enough to have the space, take her all apart & get on with a rotisserie restoration. They are not as expensive as you think they are, but you get a much better job done because you have easy access to almost everything you need to get to! 😊
