    Fantastic video. None of the lift the bed off or cut a hole in the bed nonsense. I am probably going to have to do my 2004 since my crank time is growing unless I leave the ignition key to the on position for few seconds before cranking. I have long socket extensions and 3/8 impact wrench for the strap bolts. No rust, I live in Phoenix. Since I have no friends I work alone. I would help you out anytime. If you need help with other projects let me know...after 15 years I pretty much know the Ram...

I'm in North Phoenix and would certainly welcome a pair of extra eyes and hands with some of the work. I don't do the videos as much as I would like to because of the time and effort it takes to record while doing the work and the editing.

    How do you empty the tank?

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @che: I didn't empty the tank. Since most cars have anti-siphon valves and trying to force anything could possibly cause damage, I used a 4x2 to distribute the weight on a floorjack and a helper to keep it from rolling to the sides. Once on the ground with the pump out, I was able to siphon most of the gas out.

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Etheus, I went to O'Reily's and got a "Dorman OE Solutions Fuel Line Connector Clip" Part #800-023 and it came with both the 5/16 and 3/8" clips. Don't remember the specific location of each now. But the size difference makes it easy ro guess. The 45° angled edge on the clip legs have to face the end of the hose and the 90° yhe other way. This makes it easier to push-lock the hose and MOST IMPORTANT prevents the hose from coming loose.

  • @maniacmark14
    @maniacmark14 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if you have a full tank?

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you will still net to lower it full because the tank has an anti-siphon/roll-over valve. If you don't have a transmission jack then make a jig wit 4x2s to hold the tank in place on a floor jack by removing the saddle and securing your jig with bolts and wide washers. If you have two jacks and a couple of friends to help you then you it would make it much easier. Best of luck and needless to say, be very careful when working with a full tank of gas and make sure you use the gas pump lock removing tool. I got mine later for working on other dodge/Chryslers that I have and it makes the removal and install of the lock ring much simpler.

Plus chances are you will break something, the lock ring will be rusty and fight like crazy even soaked with penetrating oil. It is one of those jobs that people usually call me halfway stuck because something broke. Most jobs look easy until you start wrenching.

    When you have tank removed is it adviseable too wipe and clean inside the tank of any setament?

    • @juancastro6934
      @juancastro6934  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fuel tank is plastic and I found no sediment inside. I did get some dirt inside there, that I removed with a clean rag and whatever remaining fuel was in the tank. The way the fuel pump sits inside that bottom assembly part with its builtin strainer, there's no way any sediment will get to it.
