Funny how he talks about being 60 years old here… He's now 61 and recently did a really cool video that I saw on TH-cam where he is hiking with Kevin Nealon! He's actually a pretty thoughtful and intelligent guy and still kicking it!!
25:16 Some context on this joke. Earlier in the show Dave did a skit on weird headlines, and one was from a tabloid about someone's toaster being possessed by the devil... apparently it toasted upside down crosses on bread, caused flames to flair out, etc. It was BRILLIANT of him to incorporate this in his opener, laughed so hard I almost choked. 😂🤣
17:36 "Scott Baio is the anti-Christ". I remember this line and repeated it often. Most people just gave me a weird look. Some laughed. Those people became life-long friends. ( BTW I like Scott Baio, it's just a pointedly absurd thing to say ).
interesting to see his transformation from the first national TV appearance, and the one a few years later. I never got his routine and didn't think he was that funny, but did see his growth. I saw one of his later stand-up acts without the "voice" and realized he is talented. One last thought, he was a guest on a show called Hiking with Kevin (seen here youtube) he goes into his transformation from actor to director.
@@tyronebrown8510 To be honest, not sure what you mean by "persona" I did watch a 20min. interview of him on the Kevin show I wrote above and he had a normal, soft-spoken voice. When asked about doing his unique voice he said he gave it up years ago only briefly bringing it back for a candy commercial, and only because they threw so much money for the old voice style.
. Wow........Paul Shaffer, the typically genial Canadian who almost NEVER had a (truly) unkind thing to say about most others, lets fly on Bobcat (31:08) !! Now, of course, I find myself wondering if there are any other examples in the history of Letterman's two nighttime shows where Paul goes off like this on somebody else..... Anybody remember any other specific examples where Paul Shaffer may have done anything else like this ?? .
I seen this homeless guy in downtown Indianapolis a couple of months ago who I thought was doing a very good Bob Goldthwait impression until he turned around and a glass pipe fell out of his pocket and busted on the ground then it hit me he's not doing a Bob Goldthwait impression he's just methin around 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I payed to see him once. He was frickin' hilariuos. Not only that he can sing very well. He sang the song ,"still havent found whst I'm looking for". He sounded better than Bono. I also remember he drank about 12 Tabs. I dont think they make that anymore, but anyway, I like the kind of comedy that Bobcat did. He was great!
You’d think that with Paul having been on a national tv show, first weekly, then nightly, for 40 years, Mr. Autocorrect would have learned by now. Then again, it still thinks Dave was the Tonight Show host.

He states that he's 19 in the first Letterman appearance and he was born in 1962, which means either he's lying(for no reason whatsoever) or this it didn't air in 1983, but rather 1982.
Bobcat on Letterman should have been the template for the ending of Joker. Actually, Bobcat should be the template for all of Joker. Actually, Bobcat should have PLAYED THE JOKER.
Jerry Seinfeld is funny. He doesn't like this dude. Bob had a veiled insult towards him and other comedians saying they weren't as dangerous as he was. So Jerry just thinks he sucks. I get it!
@@lauralei6963 Well he seems like he only entertains those on HIS LEVEL... and hollywood isn't like REAL LIFE. Thank you for this upload, 26 in 2024 and finally delving into Bobcat’s work and this is a great source!
His real voice is so soothing and intelligent! He's a remarkable comic, very unique!
Why does he look like Jack White in the thumbnail?
Such an underrated genius

BEST TH-cam POST EVER! THANKS Don!
He is so funny. a comedic genius who was not afraid to be his own character.....
He is like nobody else!

I love this dude we need him bk
He's still around!
First saw Robert in Police Academy and he blew me away.. such a funny comedian.
He always called it Police Labotemy!
"Pop-Tarts as such"
"No wait, not Marvin Hamlisch"
"Where are your toes?"
He is so awesome nowadays. Great director and a sweetheart.
Shakes the Clown is an underrated movie.
Eh....
Shakes is the Best
I loved shakes
I can see why he says he hated doing this persona. I get stressed just watching lol
It was honestly best suited for Police Academy. That's the pinnacle of this character.
Just found these videos, this man is absolutely hilarious, he seems part psychotic, but then tells the truth!
Poor lad just had a rough paper round! 🤣
You can actually see his routine maturing, classic childhood hero.
Emo Philips and Bobcat are my favorites!
I love his oppositional defiance in soo much of his comedy 😂
Try watching this with captions on, lol.
They dont work.
Bobcat is legit the first comedian I remember seeing for the very first time.
31:13 I didn't know Paul had that kind of a voice lurking inside himself somewhere Wow. Ha ha.
I can see why him and robin Williams were friends
I could see him driving his high school and college professors nuts and cracking the students up.
It never stops being weird when they just call him Bob.
Loved him in Scrooged
Bobcat Rules!
Such an interesting fellow.
Bob is up there with the best of them.
He invented a character that truly is org. And he holds all the rights to the intellectual property.
Physical comedy at its best.
He is even more awesome as a writer director.

Scott Baio IS the anti-Christ
Why would you quote that?
Ah but do you have both of Scott Baio's albums plus the "Zapped!" soundtrack like I do? :-)
thank you for posting Don! Bob got on my nerves but your compilations are the tops!
Thank you, Ted!
I love Bobcat Goldwaite, but this first was hard to watch
Goldthwait. I find this intersting, too.
I remember this i was 12
He should got together with Peewee Herman! Imagine what that would've been like? 😂😂😂😂😂

he can walk down a y street in any neighborhood in NYC and not be attacked.
Paul Schaeffer throwing some serious shade at Bobcat.

That first clip really shows where charlie day got a lot of 'charlie' from.

There’s a generation of human beings who dropped acid and watched Bobcat. Great Formation. The Luckiest Generation
He’s so soft spoken😌
bobcat robi. Williams Sam Kinnisan and Chris Farley performing on the same stage...let THAT sink in...
I can’t feel my face
A cool dude
If you don't get it, the joke's on you. He's just that original and ahead of the curve. 🙄
You can tell by the fourth appearance he was starting to get tired of the character.
What did they edit out of the Ghandi joke in the first clip?
Since it was edited out, how are we to know?
