I love this song's sense of positivity, idealistic optimism and romance. The church bell is to reference a wedding and singing I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do to really emphasize the act of taking one's vow of marriage. But there is a tinge of melancholy for acknowledging one's feeling of loneliness and there is a sense of vulnerability in the vocal delivery too. But overall it's a very happy, sunny, bright, beautiful and positive song. And I think that Bjorn and Benny were lip saxophoning in the music video.

I was about 11years old when this song was first played on Australia's "Countdown" music show (think "American Bandstand' (US) or 'Top of the Pops' (UK). Our show was played at about 6pm Sunday night for an hour and then re-run at 1pm Saturday the next week. I refused to go somewhere with my parents the next Saturday as I wanted to see it again. And the next week the host (a music producer who used to work for Apple Records) said 'we need to show this other video'. It was "Mamma Mia" and Australia went wild. Was not supposed to be a single but Australia eventually got granted permission to release it as a single. It rocketed up to #1 and then other countries followed. And the rest is history.

You are a legend! I think he’s done People Need Love though. Get on a Carousel is a bit of an oddity-they only did a full version live in concert. It doesn’t appear on any of their albums. Not even so much as a B side ( as far as I know ) it’s a shame because it’s a fantastic song.

I once fixed a pair of headphones, wrong, they were a pair of Radio Shack $14, good, usable, but cheap. The wires got disconnected. I ended up mixing the left wire with the ground and found when I did a left to right sweep, I had the oop effect and was able to focus on every aspect of the studio, listen to each instrument played, individually. One of the instrument tones that Benny was playing was a calliope, being played in tuplets, giving it a slight circus sound. Their music proved to be more fantastic when I started doing the sweep on a few other songs. Dancing Queen, That's Me, Take a Chance on Me, The Visitors, and Head Over Heels were among my favorite.
There are another two songs with official videos: "Bang-A-Boomerang" and "Ring Ring". "Tiger" has a video, too, but I think it's not an official video.

I am a huge ABBA fan, but I did not really enjoy Muriel's Wedding. It is dark and violent. I would recommend either Mamma Mia! movie instead.

I was about 11years old when this song was first played on Australia's "Countdown" music show (think "American Bandstand' (US) or 'Top of the Pops' (UK). Our show was played at about 6pm Sunday night for an hour and then re-run at 1pm Saturday the next week. I refused to go somewhere with my parents the next Saturday as I wanted to see it again. And the next week the host (a music producer who used to work for Apple Records) said 'we need to show this other video'. It was "Mamma Mia" and Australia went wild. Was not supposed to be a single but Australia eventually got granted permission to release it as a single. It rocketed up to #1 and then other countries followed. And the rest is history.

This is and used to be my mum’s fave ABBA song… now 85 and sick she can still sing along. This and Manhattan Transfers Chanson d‘Amour were her faves. It was not a big hit in the uk and critics were bad but it was a hit in continental Europe and Australia and later in us but only after SOS and Mamma Mia in 1976 a year later…

Get on a Carousel is a bit of an oddity-they only did a full version live in concert. It doesn’t appear on any of their albums. Not even so much as a B side ( as far as I know ) it’s a shame because it’s a fantastic song.

Back in the 50's there was an orchestra leader named Billy Vaughn. His signature sound was two alto saxophones just like in this song. Don't know if ABBA is paying an homage but I love it regardless.

Hello Dereck wahou ABBA j adore quel sacre groupe c etait eux qui écrivaient leurs propres chansons et celle qui me fait vibree a chaque fois c est Dancing Queen des que je l entend a la radio je monte le son et la c est la teuf 🥰🥰
I once fixed a pair of headphones, wrong, they were a pair of Radio Shack $14, good, usable, but cheap. The wires got disconnected. I ended up mixing the left wire with the ground and found when I did a left to right sweep, I had the oop effect and was able to focus on every aspect of the studio, listen to each instrument played, individually. One of the instrument tones that Benny was playing was a calliope, being played in tuplets, giving it a slight circus sound. Their music proved to be more fantastic when I started doing the sweep on a few other songs. Dancing Queen, That's Me, Take a Chance on Me, The Visitors, and Head Over Heels were among my favorite.
