Liking Abba is by no means uncool. Rather the opposite. The swedish versions of their songs are very useful for my language learning :)

Such songwriting mastery. Their melodies are among the most beautiful and catchy ever written in pop history imo. They flow so naturally, yet are so much richer and complex than most give them credit for.

I grew up with ABBA. Their music is inside me like the growth rings through a tree.
I am transported back 50 years every time I hear an ABBA song, and I remember listening to the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest on a portable radio, in a holiday caravan at Manorbier, Pembrokeshire, with my grandparents.
It was obvious from the first few notes that Waterloo was going to win.
Went to the ABBA costume and instrument exhibition years later, when it opened in Stockholm.
My partner and I signed the visitors book as 'two old dancing queens from Oxford.'
We are now in our 60s - when we were younger, ABBA helped us to cope.
We're still dancing!
I haven't seen the Avatars yet - I think it's going to be an emotional experience.

I remember as a child of 9 years old watching the 1974 Eurovision Song Contes. Abba came on. I remember our family's reaction as we watched. We were stunned. I have never understood that term "cheesy". It has even been used to describe 10cc whose lyrics are the most complex, interesting, ironic and plain intelligent of any I have heard. ABBA were never cheesy. At worst, they produced the best cheery pop we have ever heard and at best beautiful sadness.
