Language Development Tips:
1. Have fun with animal sounds 🐷🐮🐴
2. Read daily *Read facing child, too! 📚
3. Have fun with vehicle sounds 🚙🚒🚛
4. Encourage gestures such as waving, clapping, high-five
5. Play interactive games like peek-a-boo and pat-a-cake!
6. Narrate your day, say what you’re doing all day 🌳☀️
7. Sing kids songs - especially ones with gestures! 🚌
8. Use “parentese” High, sing-songy, slow, elongated vowels, enthusiastic, exaggerated facial expressions, simple grammar (Backed by research) 🎶🎵
9. Copy baby’s sounds - coos & babbles - have back and forth “conversations” 🗣️
10. Repeat simple words such as “up” when you’re going up the stairs
11. React to what you’re child takes interest in - share joint attention 🐰💕
12. Have your child fill in words to phrases or songs
13. Don’t say, “No, it’s a duck!” Just model the correct word 🦆 If they say dah for duck (any approximation)
14. Build on their language! Play on the floor with your child ☺️
