- "Sunshine On My Shoulders' is a beautiful song off of the album titled "Poems, Prayers & Promises" which came out in 1971. Theres no better place to sing this song than sitting in the grass on a beautiful day outside. The vibes are perfect.
I'm still chipping away at my request list. It gets longer every week and I'm having a blast with it! Some of these John Denver songs, I've been singing and playing a long time. Others, I'm learning specifically for the videos. The challenge is always accepted and greatly appreciated.

1972, late high school senior year, perhaps Christmas time. Scrambled my Social clique, and started hanging out with one of my classmates I had never known! I was all about industrial arts, science, math, and track. Tony was all about performing arts, Choir, and Tennis! We never had a class together and how our paths crossed I cannot remember but I am so grateful it did. I always loved music but had no formal awareness.
Tony had a 1942 Gibson that was lost to me at the time. He gave me a 1965 Rio nylon string guitar and proceeded to teach me how to play. Tony was a slightly better than average guitar player, his guitars voice was stellar, and his voice was simply angelic. When he played “Sunshine on my shoulder” girls would swoon! Here I am 50 years later playing much better than he did at 17, but I will never play as good as he did at 17. I have lost touch with Tony, but I am so grateful for the gift he gave me. Koodo’s to those with natural talent as this individual has. I for one , am keenly aware of how exceptional your talent is.
John wrote this tune on a cold rainy day when he was living in..Chicago ( 1970?) I learned it so I could sing for a girI had crush on in 1976 other people were singing Freebird. Good tune ,eh? There was no youtube then

I can't say how amazing this is. I have old John Denver albums and I am old enough that I was able to hear him in concert years ago. I need to get out my record player and record a comparison .

You get it’s not the chords that make the song it’s the finger picking which is everything in acoustic guitar.
