Ha ha ha. It took a fair few goes to get the pronunciation correct but glad I got there in the end! Also, completely agree about Poznański's Palace - I'd love to see if once all the renovations are finished!
Been in Lodz many times and always loved my visits there. Great mix of restaurants and bars with affordable price range. Have made alot of friends in Lodz. Great persons! I looking forward to travel back.
I'd never even heard of Lodz before watching this - but you've definitely convinced me. It looks like such a cool city. Loads going on! And £20 for a day?! Yes please!

Hello... such a wonderful vlog you did... really it's a beautiful city.... this vlog implies your hard work and love... hope to be in Lodz city if God permits...tq ...
It was a ghetto only 20 years ago, so I'm very proud to see it change so much. It has this special feel about it, like when you look at a successful person, but you can tell they've been through some shit in their life.
Absolutely LOVE your video!!! Update for 2022: the prices have significantly went up haha and Lodz generally is really really ugly! but you highlighted the best parts!
I was born there in 1944 in the Horst Wessel Strasse according to my German birth certificate. I believe that street reverted back to ulica Nawrot after the war. If anyone can confirm that I would be grateful. Also does anyone know if the house numbers changed post war? My address was 135/58.
Good question! I've just checked on Google maps and it isn't far. It should be walkable, but if not definitely by public transport. Lodz is quite a small city and very easy to get around!

I used to live there as kid for 17 years. Łódź is nice to visit but it is failed city to live there. In late 1980s Łódź was polish Manchester and had massive Cotton industry. Cotton mills were shut down during hostile take over operation or corrupted management sold long term corporation in for pea nuts. There were cases when Western companies bought polish state owned Cotton mills for pea nuts, later sacked thousands of workers over night and moved machinery to the West. Unemployment was sky high 30-40%.Lodz lost about 200k population during last 30 years. City center has one representative high Street.Rest of city center are derelicted back Street with poor quality private tenant houses. Very dangerous places were there is one booze shop every Street. In Comunism times blocks were Grey but people in these blocks all had jobs and stability. Now in newly coloured blocks there are plenty of jobless people without hope for their future in Poland. So they (including me) had no choice but leave Poland and Look for better life abroad. Some people compare Łódź to Detroit
Thank you so much for your comment and explaining your experience living there. It's really sad hearing the decline of a city, but hopefully things are getting better now. Often it takes decades of wrong before we can finally make it right. I hope that's the case of Lodz.
