Good morning Dave ❄️☕️ A good and informative video this morning. I’ve ended ( for now 😊) my DAC chase. Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC ….smooth like butter 🧈 and open sound . Have a great week ☕️
Thanks, a fine review. IMO, to do a real comparison, an r2r DAC of comparable quality is needed. I recently watched a review of the new Topping B200 monoblock amplifiers and the reviewer (iiWi Reviews) th-cam.com/video/vd6jzjWq8Dk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=iiWiReviews offered an insight that caught my attention. To paraphrase he said, "In really great devices, even when say a guitar’s string is plucked and then another string is struck that is louder and much more prominent, you can still hear the tone decay from the first string tone." I'm going to look for that quality in my equipment. He strongly endorsed the B200's ability to do so, stating he'd only heard that quality in much more expensive amps like the Pass Labs amplifiers. Obviously, for the amp to provide that quality to the listener, the DAC and headphone/speakers must be of similar quality.
Thanks for entertaining reviw, not a customer but like to listen and watch your videos. Topping and other chinese makers were never on my radar, they suit more these young guys who really don't know about real music and real instruments ( jazz and classical). But one thing really makes me angry,or I wonder how the owners of previous versions of the same product feel when they see a new version out??? What is then a resale value of their existing product??? Just makes me sick, all that crap Smsl,Topping and such
Can you compare it with the DX9 from Topping? I’m thinking it will be completely different being AKM . My wife bought me the DX9 on recommendation from my 8 year old nephew 😂. I’m going to to try to build off it and get it a nice streamer and a good all around headphone for up to 1500 dollars . I think it will be nice to have when I’m gone on the ship for 6 to 8 weeks . Again great video . I’m not on social media media but will look to join one to find more of your content .
Sorry haven't heard the DX9. There are a lot of DAC and amp reviews to help you upgrade. TH-cam is best place to find my content and also check out my website thehonestaudiophile.com

I'll stick with my Lynx Hilo. 🤓
Your review could have been summed up in one word, transparent. Dac should not change the original sound at all.
Sure! You explain what's wrong as being normal.
