The E32 750i/il was the first BMW sold with a V12. The Mercedes W140 was given a V12 option in response to the E32 rather than the E38.
Yes, some correction on his video.
Yes, for me BMW's best moment was in '86 when the E32 (and xj40) stepped decidedly past the, by then, slightly wooden w126.
My first car was an E32 735iL - what a brilliant car. I'm always on the look out for an E38 728i now... hard to find in Australia.
She really has aged gracefully 😍
Nice review. Love the E38. A timeless design and beautifully engineered luxury car.
Why is Classics World always tend to feature videos on the exact cars that have taken my fancy that particular week or month! Last few months looking at Rover SD1s and then boom vid, and now classic beamas! I really would like to know more about the 2500 PI Estate from Triumph not sure there are many vids about on those!! Cheers!
I’m a Benz man was selling thrm when that 7 series was in market .. he’s right that 7 is a brilliant car 👍
In 2001I bought one of the last 728i cars in M Sport trim with full blacked out exterior. The car was so good that I ran it for 7 years rather than my usual 3. Toured all over Europe with it and it was fabulous. The one, and only, downside was that the 2.8 in line 6 was a touch thirsty with a full life average consumption of 22mpg but I forgive it that as it was a wonderful powerplant.
What a beautiful car!!! Now compare that to a modern 7 series..... Yuck 🤢🤮
The e38 and e39 were BMWs zenith, after that it all went very wrong very quickly. The best e38 imo is the Very rare 740i with six speed manual. The e32 750 had a v12 before MB, but the w140 had the 600 v12 before the e38 750
Lovely looking cars and the facelift was even better, with white lenses up front, better sat nav and and sports steering wheel. Very hard to find a good one now. And the petrol tanks can cause expensive problems...
No V12 in the S-class of the era, i.e the early 90s?
The W140 S600 SEL says what the hell 😂
Not only a V12, but AMG would sell you a very expensive 7.0 litre version of the V12, if you really wanted to make your BMW V12 driving business rival green with envy.
The ultimate 7 series. My favourite ❤️
This model helped the magic in The Game a lot.
E38, E39 & E46 was peak Bmw, since then they started making replaceable appliances.
BMW's finest car. I'll treat myself to a nice one one day soon.
One of the most elegant luxury saloons ever built, only the Jaguar XJ Series 3 could rival it.
Buyers must have thought the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes Benz S-Class were better because they both massively outsold the Jaguar.
The E32 is a more sporting drive than the E38 & although it's obviously subjective, IMHO it's aesthetically more interesting. That's from my experience of owning an E32 750iL for 25 years and having plenty of seat time in an E38 740i.
... 'where did it all go wrong'. Exactly, this is peak BMW although having had an E60, that was an epic car but styling was very marmite. Great review :)
Great car, but perhaps looks too much like a larger version of the E39 5 series, for status hungry luxury car buyers, that wouldn’t enjoy having their expensive car, confused for a cheaper model.
They've always reminded of each other. Same with MB. And also other brands. Was never a problem. Just made them more recognicable.
I'd still take a Jaguar XJ6 instead of this any day of the week.
It's hard to tell, but, i think he likes it.
E32 was better than a E38, A much better built reliable vehicle.
E32 in my eyes is a far better looking car with perfect proportions, get it with the V12 and you're Gucci.
Peak BMW!
Not really my bag, as I prefer a Volvo, particularly a V70 or XC70, but I can appreciate its attributes.
Classy
Just missing the star 😊
The best 7 series easily, pop some alpina wheels on
The model that came after was never as good looking just a messy design
Mr Bangle also did the 1 series that looks like its been parked too close to a fire and melted a bit in the middle
The E38 looks like a puppy next to its predecessor, the E32. Too rounded and bland. The E32 is a design masterpiece with hints of Jaguar styling.
I still beleive a w140 benz cant be beaten, had a bmw, but a big difference between merc and bmw, bm is more sporty, merc has class lots of class, which bmw will never beat, not in my lifetime, like i said ,no car door closes like a mercedes benz , not even bentley or rolls, go drive a w140 and see what i mean, will rather drive a w140 s280 merc than a bmw v 12 😂😂
I love these cars The design today bmw is ugly
BiieMVii
Don't understand what he means by the E38 having V12, while you could only get V8 at most in Mercedes, very wrong. Mercedes brought a V12 to the W140 in 1991! Poor grasp of the facts here.
I came here to say this as well
He's confused between the e32 and w126, the BMW got a V12, the w126 never had a V12, but the w140 got one in 1991
BMW has lost its mojo ten or so years ago.
I prefer driving a Fiat with a clowns nose.
I think it was more like 20 years. In the years before that, they had the E30, E31, E32, E34, E36, E38, E39 and E46. All pretty good looking cars (and none of them to be embarrassed to have on your drive). I think it's difficult to find an ugly BMW from the E9 onwards. Then came Bangle... Now if you have a BMW, you have to get home after dark and leave before it gets light because of the buck toothed shame of their looks.
From an era when BMW made good cars….but I would take a S-Class of that time..
Still not as good as a Benz.
Maybe, maybe but I know that Benz's next offering wasn't as good in quality
The one I had just fell apart, gear box trim ,rust!!
Was a w211
