I have a first gen iPod Touch that I use as an electronic diary and alarm clock. I put music on it through my laptop as I was unable to purchase any music on it and it works just well like any other iPod. I have all seven generations of the iPod Touch. I wanted an iPod Touch as a teen so so badly and as an adult, I’m making up for it and I am obsessed with iPods.
I've still got my iPod Touch 1st generation I bought second hand in early 2008, as the original owner had upgraded to an iPhone. It was running iPhone OS 1 (before we started calling it iOS) so I experienced the original home screen which you couldn't even swipe left or right on. I remember being so excited about the launch of the App Store in July 2008, knowing that it was going to change everything. For the iPod Touch it was a paid upgrade (for iPhone it was free). I used it for another year, paid again to upgrade to iPhone OS 3, then stopped using it in July 2009 when I bought an iPhone 3GS. I've used every single version of iOS since then across multiple iPhones.
I still have this iPod touch still on iOS 1.1.5 so hasn't been updated since the earlier part of 2008. Can't really do much of anything online, however the offline apps work fine. In fact to be able to sync music and videos to it, I actually had to hunt down an old version of iTunes made around 2008 to 2009 since the new version of iTunes wouldn't recognize the iPod. I guess because its software has been outdated for so many years. So for things like playing music or videos on the device or using the calculator or notes app, it still works perfectly fine, but don't expect to be able to use Facebook or TH-cam with it or really anything that requires internet. Also iOS 1.1.5 was still a version that came out before the App Store even existed, so the apps that were included was all you got. Also this was a time when Microsoft Windows Vista was the latest and greatest operating system for PCs.
It did back in the day I guess! More affordable than getting a contract if you couldn’t afford the iPhone. Things are different now of course. I’ve only purchased this for collection purposes
I'm obsessed with my ipod 5th gen. I can listen to music without getting interrupted by gmail, facebook, webull, Instagram phone calls, text messages, amber alerts, weather reports, birthday reminders, investment opportunities, and the folks desperately trying to get a hold of me to discuss my vehicle's extended warranty. I choose when to be bothered by notifications and would never allow anyone else to dictate what I do with my time and attention.
that bloody florence and the machine song caused me mass ptsd after i had to play a rock version of it at a school concert, the bloody repetitiveness drove me up the wall, i was on the bass so it was easy, but a week before the performance we had to play it for an open evening for the new year 7s 11 BLOODY TIMES OVER 4 HOURS!!!
I would love to know for anyone that has ipod touch 1g on its original firmware (1.1.4) and if they have any tips on updating it with any way or to get white door 6 or 7 on it. I just LOVE everything about the device. I want to put mine to good use

The iPod touch 1st generation is the only iPod to share the exact same Wolfson chip as the iPod 5th gen (the WM8758).
@@GardeDuCoeur Yep, that's right. One of the best sounding chips on the line.
For emails, you might be able to use them if you create an app password for your account(s) and use that to connect instead of your actual one.
Does it make sense to have an iPhone looking device just to listen music?

Ist Generation iPod Touch in 2023 is still good to put Music, Videos and Photos by using a PC to transform to iPod Touch
yes
I would recommend a 4th gen since it has a retina display which is way better than on previous ipod touch’s

Dude I’m gonna get one of these they are going for 20 bucks! Nostalgia for 20 dollars, okay!
Got one off my Buddy in mint condition, loving it

@@jexicat I think the App Store is now shutdown for these devices

When did Apple stop making ipod touch 1?
2008 when they dropped the 2nd generation.
In 2007 Steve Jobs introduce The 1st Generation iPod Touch
The viewing angle is awful. But I still like it!
