    With the paintbrush I suggest that you wrap the metal bit with painters tape - go a few mmm onto the brush - that way you don’t scratch anything

      I wrap mine in electrician tape, is kind of rubbery and takes water abuse.

    For people in the netherlands or elsewhere with neither kerosine nor parrafin, petroleum is a liquid you can search for in your local hardware store. I’ve bought 5L for 7/8 euros and I’m still using it to clean my chain! Works as a charm and removes literally all the grease and dirt.

    • @ObitoUchihaisgay
      @ObitoUchihaisgay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure but that might damage your O rings. I live in Austria and couldn't find kerosene so I just bought chain cleaner from ipone. Fortnite tested it and thought it's the best with kerosene in 2. Place

    I try to avoid washing my bike with water to avoid the need to relube the chain and to minimise the chance for rust.
    What I do and recommend is a 'waterless wash'

    • @razzle1964
      @razzle1964 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dunno what that is, exactly, but I like the idea. I’ve been avoiding washing my first (new) bike in 38yrs & it reminded me of how I avoided having to put the kids in the bath or change their nappy/diaper for the first time. The brush (known, in the trade, as a ‘dogs dick’) is a good idea. Doesn’t even have to be round. Any brush’ll do.

    Washing a bike is so much fun. Especially with a power washer, it saves so much time and makes the whole process that much fun.
    I would suggest investing in a Pressure washer. It can be more than just car/bike washer. Try cleaning your porch with it.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're going to use a pressure washer, be careful to know where the electronic components are located as they're not usually sealed well enough to stand up to a direct blast.
      If there's a wash it yourself car wash in the area, they often have an appropriate washer and greatly reduce the mess you make at your own house.

    Use a leaf blower to dry the bike. Zero scratches and it blasts the water out of every nook and cranny so no chance of anything rusting. 👌🏻

    For those who don't have access to water outside can use pump sprayer (google it if you don't know) for prewash and rinse, it's especially great for bikes as it doesn't blow water at high pressure.

    In addition to the 'paint brush' I use a $2 dustpan brush for cleaning those larger area difficult-to-reach-places. Some dustpan brushes have nice soft bristles....some don't - choose carefully! It'll last about 25 bike washes too. Bargain

  • @matiks1419

    I use a tooth brush for chain cleaning, and a chemical sprayer that i put soapy water in. Works like a jet wash and costs $10 although not as effective but still better than nothing.

    I know I'm super late but this is important.
    Polish can easily be mistaken for a rubbing compound at the automotive store. Unless you 100% know what you're doing avoid that like the plague. Grab a wax.
    Rubbing compound polishes by removing a fine layer of paint. Wax adds shine and protection.

      Much with a Mouth Dogepool as i’ve said before chamaois is a no no, as we own a detailing shop. chamois absorbs all the dirt and scratches the surface even if the surface is spot on clean

    I have ninja 300. It has all stickers on its side fairings. Can I use polish on it as well as black unpainted parts?
    And isn't polish abrasive? I don't think one should use Polish very frequently. It's wax that's creates a layer over your paint. Polish removes one layer of paint and bring out the next layer hence the shine.

    Chain lube

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chain lube is a waste of money. The cost of replacing the chain a bit early is far less than the cost of lubing the chain. Now, if you're paying somebody to replace the chain and sprockets, that might be different, but chains are just not that expensive these days and if you're checking them regularly, it's not going to fail unexpectedly.
