You can view a video one frame at a time by pausing it and using your comma and period keys to go back (comma) or forward (period) one frame at a time. Be Cool.
Small tip about shortcuts: while the video is in focus, hold down the spacebar or your left mouse button while it plays, it works like a fast forward button, playing back 2x speed until you release.
Holding the space bar will 2x the video while you hold it. Holding Left click does the same thing. Holding left click then right clicking will stick the 2x after you release the buttons until you right click again.

If it should ever stop playing, pull down form the top of the phone screen and in the playback section, tap the Play button to resume.

The number of music vids I've got downloaded would have cost me very much more than my sub, if they were CDs

One essential trick that i know is, when i move my mouse cursor over the video, if you leave it there for approximately 3 seconds, it automatically disappears so you can watch the youtube video without being burdened to move the mouse out of the way. This handy trick has helped me and my wife and has actually saved our marriage from eternal divorce over the mouse cursor and its inherent in-the-way-ness.
using number keys for jumping to a percentage of a video stream is the worst idea in the whole world of a keyboard shortcut. Never used it as it supposed to be, but sometimes triggered accidentally

Here's my tip: for fresh content and conversations sort videos by newest or recently uploaded.
My LEFT and RIGHT ARROW Keys at the bottom of my Mac keyboard also act as keys "J" and "L"
J and L keys do 10 seconds, whilst left and right do 5 seconds (or scaled equivalently to playback speed)

I use an extension called "Enhancer for TH-cam" to remove the Shorts. It also has a lot of other very useful settings.
