Thank you for uploading this! I just started my ceramics class, and my sister in law would love a yarn bowl! I'm still struggling to get my clay centered, so we'll see if it's something I can produce with more experience 😅.
My mom asked for a yarn bowl. But a big, oval one that fits her wool. Looking forward to seeing how you carve them so I could try it out. That Borealis glaze is so incredibly gorgeous.
Ok. What was the last pictured item? It looked like a coaster or spoon rest but it had holes in it. I woke up the other morning to my cats head stuffed in my water glass. Blek! So at my house I would put it as a lid/cat-water deterrent.
The first thing that calls my attention is that you don’t move the pot from the board till next day. Any particular reason? I have a little difficulty when trying to lift the bowl up from the plate. Your method seems to be easier. Another question: is it more comfortable to work in a standing up position? Thank you!
the borealis mug at 9:13!! I may have to get me one of them! lovely pic, with the glaze running down the handle
Thank you! That glaze breaks particularly nicely over handles
Love a good yarn bowl. Also love the TShirt! Lol
It's one of my favourite tees!
I wish I’d known about leaving a bridge in the top of the gap, I made a couple last year and I suffered warping on one of them. Cheers Bob 🇬🇧
I'd love to claim it was my idea and that I hadn't made any warped bowls first, but neither are true!

I'm sure it won't take you long! The nice thing with a yarn bowl is that a little wonkiness will just add character

Thanks! The carving is quite simple really, but there are a few tricks that hopefully you'll find useful
As an avid crocheter and potter. I make my yarn bowls double the size as it will actually fit a larger skein of yarn.

I have a full video about that! From about a week ago
How much clay do you use when you throw a yarn bowl? just want a point of reference when I attempt my first one.
I think a kilo is probably a good starting point.
