Just make it a car free village, there are lots of those in the alps. And gives you way more space for nice scenery and minifig stories. You could make a traditional (german) Christmas market, with stands selling glühwein and Christmas decorations etc.
I would say a road free winter village would look best but if you do "have" to do a road I definitely wouldn't do a lego city road. Takes away from the winter look in my opinion. But of course do what you like best. It will look good either way. I think the size of it as a whole is perfect. Just enough space
I agree - a 'cobblestone' road with a mix of dark/light greys and whites in a not too dissimilar style to Bricksies country road would be perfect - but time consuming!
For the trolley, you can build a tunnel in the back where the trolley can go, and have the main street buildings on top. That way, you won't loose so much space with the width of both the train tracks and the buildings, and the buildings would be elevated from the skating ring
I think having the road be a continuation of the country road, that becomes something like a 1 lane width road, allowing for some storytelling on the road itself on the way up the mountain, like road blacks, traffic etc. I also think having some buildings on the mountain side of the winter village, making it look more like an actual town or village would be good.
A cobblestone path/road would look good with the dark gray quarter round tiles on top of white plate. Studs can be added so figures can walk but it would be wide enough for the winter village fire truck
I have not long found your channel and have been binge watching everything 😂 I love the start of the winter village but I don’t think you need a formal road in it, most snowy mountain places won’t have clear roads and markets are usually pedestrian anyway, you could have a cable car taking people up the snowy mountain and have the fire house down by the bottom of the ski slope, you can have snowy cobble paths too lead every where and sleighs with horses too transport people, it will make more places available for future additions to the layout as well but at the end of the day whatever you decide to do will be fantastic and I will be watching it all 🥰
I think a cobbled road that is meandering through a mountainous winter village would look the best. Old European village style. Buildings on weird angles and close together with little lanes running through. I'd make the trolley run from the base of the winter village mount through to a tunnel in the mountain. I wouldn't continue it through just a back and forth type situation. Then I'd love to see a cable car from the trolley to the top of the winter village or somewhere else on the mountain
Hey bricksie, my suggestion would be to make your winter village into a winter wonderland market. Don't use a full road plate, maybe a half plate to increase your space. You could put the GWP from last year (horse and carriage) on it. Smaller shops for the mini-figures, something like that. Have fun with it. 😁
Mountain town roads rarely look like city roads. You could make it look like a wider version of the road through the country-side, just swap out the light browns for black, gray, and white.
I wouldn’t do a road, but I’d also put the trolley tracks in front of the buildings and embed it into the plate. Just something people could use to get around if they don’t want to walk
I feel if you have the trolley, you can forget an actual road. Maybe continue the country road to the mountain, maybe people can use the lift to get to the top of the mountain, shop, ski, skate, eat...then take the chairlift down and drive away. 😊
To maintain the elevation you want to get in some areas you should think about building tunnels for the trains. 2 areas would be the backside of the winter village. You could put some building on the hillside on top of the tunnel behind Main Street. Also another spot would be at the county side. Currently there is the train that will cut right through the mountain side and the country side. If you add a tunnel to go into the mountain you can have the country side flow right into the mountain side and over the top of the train. Love the city!
you could run the tram on a trolly track down the center of "main street" in the winter village and just have it bounce from end to end rather than having a loop. that would free up a lot of room
Saw you have a winter village cottage 10229 in a recent haul. Why is this not in your winter village? Regarding roads vs no roads, do what makes you happy.
You could end the road coming from the countryside at the base of the mountain where the train may stop too and maybe add a cable car that connects to the winter village on top, so that it wouldn’t be necessary to build roads
I think it would be great to skip the roads this year, just leave all the room for stories. With Lego we always have to use our imagination so no worries about leaving out the roads.
Once you develop your mountain around the winter village, you should include some wintery/Christmas dioramas on the back side of the mountain since that is the area where you walk around the tables.
As you are limited on space, don't bother with the road and just have some foot paths around and it would be nice having a small Christmas market that's selling Christmas food, toys, etc.
I think a rock/gravel road would look more natural in the Christmas village 🤔 or maybe a cobblestone road using ingots. Hmm, so many options with Lego 😊
I was going to say don't do a formal lego road but more of a dirt road/cobblestone streets. However I think with the road in there it does have a "Holiday Inn/White Christmas feel to it. So in summation go with your gut and build the roads.
As the village is at the end of the road it should be a snow track. Part from deliveries to the village most would use the cable car to reach the village but i do know you don't have one setup to use. You could then use the road as part of a winter market with carts selling things. just a thought.
Gotta say the harbor/beach water looks GREAT was watching the subway vidoe last night and when you kneeled down in that area and yhe camera came up to show the top it literally looks like real water or at most like epoxy/resin water
I think you could leverage the existing road plates as they are without buying more of the new style road plates. Build up the sides of plates around the road with white (and brown) snow. Then you can run some single plate height white plates/tiles into parts of the road to look like snow cover. That would give you some really interesting depth like the village got dumped with a foot or two of snow. Nice variety using the stuff you already have in the studio.
Winter village looking awesome, just an idea - maybe build a second passenger car, would bring it more in scale with the size of the village...wish I had the space to layout my entire village, I have each year's set, all of them with LED kits, and also include some old Hoth, and the New Year ice rink, and Harry Potter Yule Ball (Clock Tower) ... have to split things up...Once populated with vehicles, minifigs, etc. your village is going to be absolutely awesome! Love it, thanks for doing, I know you're super busy. I think the only way to do your village without the road would be to maye stage a huge Winter Festival in all that space, snow ball fight, ice sculptures, snow man building competition, food stands, etc. Which would be epic but a TON of work.
have the winter train go into the future mountain and turn around inside the mountain -- you could also put the ski slopes on the mountain on the winter village side of the mountain
I think you should leave the old road plate. That way the snow looks to be higher than the road surface, and the snow can spill over with the odd shapes.
Hey Bricksie, for the ''road'' i think there must be a road but not with road plates. the ''road'' could be just for pedestrians / car free (only for emergency vehicles) so at the start of the winter village i would build a small max 4 car wide parking stalls. Also in the lower downtown, the strip of sidewalk in front of the bowling alley, there could be a strip of grass instate of sidewalk. Also it is your city! only giving my advise. I like the way you build your city! after finding your channel more than 2 years ago it got me back into buying lego!
Your first tram layout was just it going back and fourth, maybe you should resurrect that and it might look more realistic since trams don’t have a loop like trains do
What of you did both a road and no road and then do a snow plow so it looks like its partially cleared the road. I also like the suggestion of doing a more country style road than the fully paved city style roads.
It would be cool of you created a big wooden train bridge through the mountains maybe utilizing the trolly for space? Obviously this wouldn’t be for some time
Here's an idea Bricksie, place the Trolly on the lower platform and turn the lower platform into a tunnel for the Trolly to go through and just use the upper platform as your main Christmas Village area, because when you combine both the Trolly and the village together, the Trolly just takes up too much room for it, if you use both the upper and lower platforms, you more room to work with.
See for the winter Village if you brick build you could make it like tracks but conpacked snow so it's higher like a curb but road for car to drive on is lower
Loving the Timelapse, great way to add time to your videos aka more money, and also so we can see. Also, if you ask for a thumbs up 1/3 of the way through your video, you will improve your “likes” 2-3 times! It’s not to bother us, just to remind us! It has to be in the first 1/3 of the video.
What do you think about rotating the entire village 180 degrees where the village is seen from the other side. Then, continue the mountain range from the middle into the snow village and make the trolley go in and out of the mountain range.
What about the next leval down. Are you going to add the. Chair lift from the top leval to the next leval the chair lift. Is so dope. Looking. Hope you do add the chair lift .even if you dont have much white plate to mile s plate that next leval .just lay white. Base plate s for now .easy mate
Happy weekend .as you got only few of the new road part ??? Do you still have any of the old flat road plate just you s them if do .😊 I would .whant make much diffrent s as it's only for .......christmas then add the new road plate s. once get them. 😊so then at lest you have a road .
Why not make the road part of the tram line. Trams are almost always set into the street itself, so add some cobbles about the train track and a few parked, snowy cars, and you're golden.
Why dont u use the platform in front of the wintervillage. It only needs some elavation but it creates a posaibility to use the winterchalet and skatingrink and tourista ,some shops on top (like its a mountain) while beneath you can create the houses and a street. Its a cheap and quik option. Bricksie city without a proper wintervillage this year would be devastating 😔🥹 to be honest. Its our favorite part of the year to watch you.
Just make it a car free village, there are lots of those in the alps. And gives you way more space for nice scenery and minifig stories. You could make a traditional (german) Christmas market, with stands selling glühwein and Christmas decorations etc.
make it a walkable little winter village.
Yeah a cobblestone road would be great with some lit up street lights.
I vote, no road but a wide path (edit: snow packed) with horse drawn sleigh(s)
Cobblestone would look great for sure. I just can't see city streets in this style of winter village
Agreed, villages don't have roads. Towns do.
For the trolley, you can build a tunnel in the back where the trolley can go, and have the main street buildings on top. That way, you won't loose so much space with the width of both the train tracks and the buildings, and the buildings would be elevated from the skating ring

Loving Josee's input into the place. Really enjoying these videos with Josee in the mix.
A cobblestone path/road would look good with the dark gray quarter round tiles on top of white plate. Studs can be added so figures can walk but it would be wide enough for the winter village fire truck
First Christmas in the new studio…love it… how time flies.
Can’t wait to see what you do with your winter village. I love the ice skating rink design! 😍
I have not long found your channel and have been binge watching everything 😂 I love the start of the winter village but I don’t think you need a formal road in it, most snowy mountain places won’t have clear roads and markets are usually pedestrian anyway, you could have a cable car taking people up the snowy mountain and have the fire house down by the bottom of the ski slope, you can have snowy cobble paths too lead every where and sleighs with horses too transport people, it will make more places available for future additions to the layout as well but at the end of the day whatever you decide to do will be fantastic and I will be watching it all 🥰
Yay, Mrs. Bricksie! Lots of great Christmassy additions today. You must be loving having Joseé back working with you in the studio.
I think a gravel road in winter village would look amazing with snow and ice on the road. Plus your gravel looks so good with diff colors
Ice skating ring looks awesome
You don't need a road and a train man, 1 is more than enough!
I think a cobbled road that is meandering through a mountainous winter village would look the best. Old European village style. The scale of the city continues to blow my mind 🤯. Got a little corner here for the winter village, it’s 40 BASEPLATES!
A cobbled road would look so much better.
I feel if you have the trolley, you can forget an actual road. Maybe continue the country road to the mountain, maybe people can use the lift to get to the top of the mountain, shop, ski, skate, eat...then take the chairlift down and drive away. 😊

new river plates look great👍
Some road is needed to break up the white but where is the post office with the cool hot air balloon?
you could run the tram on a trolly track down the center of "main street" in the winter village and just have it bounce from end to end rather than having a loop. that would free up a lot of room
Saw you have a winter village cottage 10229 in a recent haul. Why is this not in your winter village? Regarding roads vs no roads, do what makes you happy.
winter village looks noce. i like the road contrast too white snow
I like the road! Use the road plates!

I'm really loving the tiers to your layout, this is really starting to look epic, finished setup will seem unreal! 😮
love big chrismas tree with lego
Once you develop your mountain around the winter village, you should include some wintery/Christmas dioramas on the back side of the mountain since that is the area where you walk around the tables.
Small Road would be worth adding WITH A SNOWPLOUGH!
Vision for the winter village is looking great, excited to see it coming together
Vail, Colorado. it’s an awesome looking town in the mountains that i think could be good inspiration
Excited for the winter village
As you are limited on space, don't bother with the road and just have some foot paths around and it would be nice having a small Christmas market that's selling Christmas food, toys, etc.
you should try to add blue plates under the mat glass panels for a more frozen water effect
I think a rock/gravel road would look more natural in the Christmas village 🤔 or maybe a cobblestone road using ingots. Hmm, so many options with Lego 😊
Winter village could be just a shopping christmas experience where mini fig can buy their gifts and skating until u have time to do it like u want it.
I think a brick built, single track lane would look good 😊
keep the old road plates and have the road sunk in like there is a snow berm and have a grater clearing the snow
Trolley tunnel with houses on top.
I was going to say don't do a formal lego road but more of a dirt road/cobblestone streets. However I think with the road in there it does have a "Holiday Inn/White Christmas feel to it. So in summation go with your gut and build the roads.

I vote no road. In Europe they have mostly walking streets. So reduce the number of roads overall.
maybe raise buildings and make trolley go under a mountain so buildings move back a littls
Congrats on 440k!
but I thought you had more than that tbf?
You should really had a big ski resort and build the winter village around it
Winter village looking awesome, just an idea - maybe build a second passenger car, would bring it more in scale with the size of the village...wish I had the space to layout my entire village, I have each year's set, all of them with LED kits, and also include some old Hoth, and the New Year ice rink, and Harry Potter Yule Ball (Clock Tower) ... have to split things up...Once populated with vehicles, minifigs, etc. your village is going to be absolutely awesome! have the winter train go into the future mountain and turn around inside the mountain -- you could also put the ski slopes on the mountain on the winter village side of the mountain
An option to allow for a larger skating rink, would be to move the tree just off the ice. Similar to Rockefeller Square. Either way it looks good.
I think you should leave the old road plate. That way the snow looks to be higher than the road surface, and the snow can spill over with the odd shapes.

Gravel small road for sure

if you adda road you can make a hill ramp up from the main part of the table wouls be cool
Ditch the roads, put in a tram to access the ski village.
It would be cool of you created a big wooden train bridge through the mountains maybe utilizing the trolly for space? Obviously this wouldn’t be for some time
make a giant ski hill of of the winter village mountain kinda like a year round holiday town
Was worried you wouldn't be doing the Winter Village this year with everything else going on! Phew! Crisis averted!
Considering you didn't think you would have time to do a winter village at all this year, it's already looking great!
Now you get to spoil Mrs. Bricksie and buy her something pretty! Lucky guy!
Maybe you can have just a one lane road and skip the white line which then hides the road a little bit :-) It could be a low traffic area.
No ski slope 🤯🤯
Either no road or at least a one lane road would definitely be better imo
Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads. ❤🔥
My vote is no roads and use sleds, snow machines, sled dogs and things like that that go over snow.
Old school fire stations had horse drawn fire engines. That could work with the no road setup.
Let’s pretend the road is under the snow and just have snow . Just a sidewalk with people . Tfs
The fire house can be Reindeer powered
It would be cool if you made a brick built christmas tree
LoL 😆🤣 i just comented.befor you did it... Just yous some flat old road plate s 😊 an you read my mind an added them 😊👍👍
The buildings should be facing each other and a walkway between them.
Never been this early have a good morning Jordan.
A ski slope and a motorized ski lift ?
What do you think about rotating the entire village 180 degrees where the village is seen from the other side. Then, continue the mountain range from the middle into the snow village and make the trolley go in and out of the mountain range.
Here is a challenge for you. Build a gondola up to the winter village
I actually dont think you need to raise the buildings in the winter village. Gives it more of a village feel!
You are awesome 😎
11:30... Go shopping already!
What about the next leval down. Are you going to add the. Chair lift from the top leval to the next leval the chair lift. Is so dope. Looking. Hope you do add the chair lift .even if you dont have much white plate to mile s plate that next leval .just lay white. Base plate s for now .easy mate
tram winter village looks like train track going into a ravin buy josee something pretty
❄️ 🎄 ⛄️
Should you flip the winter village so you can see the fronts instead of the backs when you’re walking around
Snowy countryroad...
Happy weekend .as you got only few of the new road part ??? Do you still have any of the old flat road plate just you s them if do .😊 I would .whant make much diffrent s as it's only for .......christmas then add the new road plate s. once get them. 😊so then at lest you have a road .
Are you going to put the boards up around the ice or have it as a pond type rink?
Also you should try and put a couple of Oilers logos too
Why not make the road part of the tram line. Trams are almost always set into the street itself, so add some cobbles about the train track and a few parked, snowy cars, and you're golden.
Why is the winter village on a raised platform? 😅
No more roads please.......lol
Cooool
Why dont u use the platform in front of the wintervillage. It only needs some elavation but it creates a posaibility to use the winterchalet and skatingrink and tourista ,some shops on top (like its a mountain) while beneath you can create the houses and a street.
Its a cheap and quik option.
Bricksie city without a proper wintervillage this year would be devastating 😔🥹 to be honest. Its our favorite part of the year to watch you.
Ps: a road for cars isnt really important( i think) because most wintervillages and markets streets are carfree. Just imagine its a mountain area
