Yep, I've just listened to Bernstein but my poorly trained ears prefer the firmer start with the violins swaying into utter romantic smulch. Makes my heart ache so!
This song (the first three min.)is recommended listening from Bashar and Daryl Anka ..the tones help in emotional healing ..when I first listened..I was just so moved by it..it became my favorite.. This was before it was recommended from Bashar..
What's interesting about this version of Symphony No. 7 2nd Movement is that it's almost right down the middle in terms of tempo compared to the "fast" renditions that take about 7 minutes 30 seconds to complete and the "slow" renditions that take about 9 minute 5 seconds to complete.
In fact, the second movement of this beautiful Symphony No. 7 is not an "allegretto" but a "solennissimo maestoso vivace ma non troppo".
+Nagastar It shouldn’t as there is a singe of hope on the end, as intended by Beethoven. There isn't a more, concerning is personal destiny, positive expression by Beethoven and his work at the time. No one than Karajan could express it more fluentely.
Not necessarily... It is a masterpiece not only a solemnity, but also of an underpinning hopeful nature and majesty. Whilst it initiates sadness, I would suggest that it is more memorable for the consistency of peaceful tones and orchestral harmony. I don't know though. You tell me....
Perfect combination :
Beethoven + Karajan !!
Perfect work of art !! Magnifico !!
I like this because I can hear the alto, tenor and bass more readily at this tempo.... Its entrancing!! LOVELY!
Love Beethoven, Respect Von Karajan. This rendition is marvelous.
Diese Symphony beruhigt des Menschen die Seele.Erinnert an die Vergangenheit

This is some kind of music. It is wonderful.
My favourite Beethoven's symphony, very gripping! Karajan's rendition is the best!
+Francine Sicard fully agree. He really captured Beethovens' toying with the instruments qualities.
Love this version, but my favourite is Noseda's in the full series of Beethoven's 9 symphonies with the BBC Philharmonic a few years ago.
Yep, I've just listened to Bernstein but my poorly trained ears prefer the firmer start with the violins swaying into utter romantic smulch. Makes my heart ache so!
WHY Mr Rob? What should we be alert to in Noseda's version?!
Best 2nd movement. But the 9th is sublime
Beethoven is FREEDOM ! Love it !
incredibly touching, such depth of feeling! remarkable, unrelenting intensity

❤
Which version? 1962 or the much later one? Sounds like the earlier one, which is my favorite.
👍❤️
Herbert's version to me is the best...
Abbado's version is amazing too.
Ryugae I will give it a listen..thank you
Let me know, man.
Listen also some Haydn by him
most epic version or no?
I like this piece of music, but I think that what is gained in technicality through speed is here in musicality for common listeners
Queremos o Zorlakoka a tocar com o Beethoven
Is not complete... but thanks, amazing
This makes me EXTREMELY sad

Final de la 7elmq
I played this to my sister when she was already dead.
Wow I heard a very thin rendition where the staccati were way overdone. Now hearing this it's way underdone.
Johnny
Why is everybody such speeding up this smyphony...
I like Karajan. But for me this piece is much more better conducted by Bernstein...
... oh deary me; I thought Bernstein's style has a too tentative start?
Agreed - this is great but a might too fast.
isn't this supposed to be a funeral march or something??
It was for the troops returning from the war against Napoleon.. I believe...
Not necessarily... It is a masterpiece not only a solemnity, but also of an underpinning hopeful nature and majesty. Whilst it initiates sadness, I would suggest that it is more memorable for the consistency of peaceful tones and orchestral harmony. I don't know though. You tell me....
Doesn't sound like Karajan
I've always hear him playing it so slow, this is strange indeed
Prefiero a Lenny para éste movimiento.
Theme from Hitler's War, found it, finally...
suck it!
Love Beethoven, Respect Von Karajan. This rendition is marvelous.
