I have a soft spot for your project. In 1985 I got a '79 Mack U model after joining Central Transport. I started my apprenticeship in 1969 and the first Pete I ever worked on was a turned in unit that had faded paint. I loved the way the dash flipped open to get at the electric circuits. The truck sat on the lot for months but after a fancy new paint job it found a new home. At Central we just hauled auto parts in Ontario, Michigan, Ohio and new York. by 1990 I switched companies and hauled freight out of Milton to Chicago and also New York. Once on a trip to Brooklyn I could not get around a corner as a sports car was illegally parked and blocked my turn. A policeman saw my predicament and ran to my rig and jumped up onto my truck. He ask me how much weight I had on, and I said a full load of 44,000 pounds. Then he told me to drive over the car! We argued and by then the guy who had the car moved it and the policeman went right after him. Many times I went to New York and I had just as many stories for each time I went.
You start by saying you can not get heat from the engine. You never will unless you put a load on the engine. In the seventies I sold garbage trucks and I was in Timmins and it was fourty below. I left the jimmy running for an hour to warm up while I had breakfast, but it was stone cold until I began to drive it. Love your rig. Good luck with it. I kissed the Mack goodbye in 1992. It went to Quebec.

I enjoy these Vlogs because I just enjoy watching a man live his dream. Doesn't matter how big or small that may be for that person it is everything. That your dream is also bring a tired old lady back to life is just an added but big bonus.
As I have said before I also admire someone who 'keeps on going' as you have regardless off the weather, the problem or whatever. I suspect it is the Canadian mentality.
Winston Churchill was once with King George VI during the darkest days of WWII and the King asked him what 'KBO' meant as he had heard Winston mention it. He said:
    "Keep Buggering On Sir"
    To which His Majesty replied:
"Well I think I had better stick to KBO Prime Minister!"
Political correctness has changed the meaning somewhat since the '40s but what Winston meant was no matter how big the problems are you just 'keep on going' until you win through.
So to you Sir I formally award you the title of Mr KBO....

You mentioned the dream of having the Pete, but I am sure the process of making it live again is more of a joy than just buying a nice running turn key truck. Been watching from day one of the LBL vids. Love em. They be the BEST vids on TH-cam easily. I feel like I know every single nut and bolt of this beautiful old Pete that your bringing back to life. Your easy going attitude and the way you explain what’s going on, is great. Not like some who get on here and start boasting I’m gonna do this and I’m gonna do that and this thing is gonna be the fastest, coolest bestest thing since sliced bread and I’m gonna be the superest supertrucker in the whole wide world. I’m a Mack and Kenworth bloke, coz I own one of each. An old 1984 R600 with a 350 comodine and a 1980 K123 Kenny that we had stretched and put a 20 foot tipping tray on to cart grain. It’s got a VT 903 Cummins in it that the previous owner waved a magic wand over and it goes and sounds nice. So I’m a Cummins bloke. But I love listening to this old Cat tick over and the way she starts so easily. I can’t wait till I hear her pullin up an incline with somethin heavy sitting on her arse.
Pulling hard, sitting on 1300 RPM. Can’t wait. Then the sound of her going down the other side with the jake doing its thing. I wish I had the patience that you have. Iv got a oval shaped polished brass plaque off of an old Horwood Bagshaw plough from the 1930s that we own and stamped in big letters around the perimeter off it is written IFWO RTHDO INGDO ITW ELL. That was the manufactures motto. They were an Ausssie mob that made all different ag implements like ploughs and harvesters. I reckon when this big old girl is finished, she would be worthy of wearing a polished brass plate with that stamped on. It really does look good. Love ya vids, love your style of narration and I really love ya old Pete. Cheers from West Australia.

    Hi ,
It’s nice to see a proper restoration story on TH-cam. Not some 10 minute video to music. Well done 👍

Engine wise, I'd just adjust the valves, make sure there's no build up under the valve cover, and send it.
Hook up some full trailers and do a some wide open pulls. If it pulls good and doesn't smoke your all good.

Great job, thank you for bringing us along for your journey. You are a true inspiration, soldiering on in mid-winter, little by little, picking away at it. Watching from Johannesburg, South Africa.
