Friendly Reviewer I appreciate your posts on Orbi. Your verbal communication is excellent and thorough. Thanks for continuing to update and keep things current for us all. When I can't get a solution from your video I always do when I scroll through the comments. Like whether I need to be on ethernet to update or if I can use wifi.
I just installed my Orbi yesterday. Does Netgear notify users via email (or some other way) when an update is available? Thanks for your very easy to follow tutorials.
Either they push them out over the internet, or you can find them at the following site: www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50.aspx#download That link is for the RBK50, but you can search and find it for the other models as well. I try to post a firmware overview video on my channel everytime a new version is posted to keep people up to date with what is going on. Thanks for the nice remark!
Thanks for this. I haven’t tried it yet but, and sorry if this is a silly question, do I have to plug the router and satellite into my computer before I start?
No, you can do all this over the WiFi connection. Now you can also use the Orbi app to update the firmware as well, but you can only pick the latest if it’s available. The manual method shown in the video allows you to download and install any firmware version you’d like. Cheers
They occasionally release less stable FW that people want to skip, but I just go with the latest. There was a short time you could use the manual FW update method to put a beta version on it.
I haven't had a reason to try it, but I believe you would have to download the older version you want to revert to from the following site: www.netgear.com/support/product/orbi.aspx#download Then you would need to perform the manual FW update process.
Seems to me to be outrageous that one has to go to so much trouble to update this expensive system. One should be able to just login and net gear should be able to identify your system and tell you if you need updates or not. End of story. All this other hocus-pocus is a bunch of baloney
Netgear has updated the Orbi app since I posted this video to allow you to use a single button press to update the FW. They still occasionally have new FW that hasn’t been pushed that it is useful to use this method.

Can you tell me what to do if the white light is solid? I cannot connect to Orbi RBR750 or update the firmware.

The Friendly Reviewer thank you so much for the reply. Is there a reason I might not want the latest version?

Really nice
Will this help get this unit back to full speed?
My RBR10 is not listed on the netgear support site
Thank you very much!
Your welcome
How do you revert the update?
