Honestly the writing is good and Phil Dunster absolutely nails it. I am mind blown on rewatches because the nuance of his performance is so good all the way through.
One of the things I love is that in another clip of them training the play in season 1, the ball is switched to Bumbercatch out wide who then plays the pass into Sam for him to score, which is the exact same thing that happened in the final episode of season 3.
anyone else caught the post goal celebration call back ? nate , coach beard , roy and ted all kept their eyes open until the ref blew the whistle , its a call back to what happened in the s1 when they thought they scored the goal they need to survive and city scored right after.
I think one of my favourite parts about Ted Lasso is with the trick plays, simply due to how hard it is to show the defense being proficient in an entertaining way. Watching Richmond on the attack is fun, and can show the audience why the strikers and middies are good; so to have a line about "The Upside-down Taxi", and for Roy to respond it's difficult without Cowburn helps illustrate his (Cowburn's) importance to the team without actually showing it. It also helps to illustrate to the audience that Roy is an excellent coach with a full understanding of all the Richmond players, benefitted from having played with all of them except Jan Maas. One line. The entire show is just a masterclass of good writing.
I can't with this show. We still got many possibilities in football. UCL, UEL, UECL, FA Cup, EFL Cup, transfers, individual awards, even the World Cup. I need more...
You know what else I just saw? Amazing editing. When the ball soars straight to the “camera” in the net, you hear a tinkle of glass as it breaks. No one is going to register that the first time the watch it, but it absolutely SELLS that goal. It was a solid kick that went all the way through to the back of the net- and you know that because the tinkle of glass tells you that the ball BROKE THE CAMERA. Now, did it actually break a camera? Maybe. Maybe it was just computer generated to look that way. Either way, the sound of glass would be added in editing. And they chose to do that to sell the shot. Everyone who worked on this show are masterful storytellers, and I love seeing more tidbits like that. 🔥🔥🔥
Another good parallel is the part when Ted complains about passing the ball to Jamie is all the plan adn right in season 3 when they get Zava, their whole plan bocomes bisically passing the ball to him
Nate gives Ted the play, S01E03: 0:00
Richmond practices Nate's play, S01E03 1:05
Richmond uses Nate's play to win: S03E12: 2:07
I love that Jamie’s idea of overacting included him saying “please”… something that would never have escaped his lips in season 1.
Bloody right !
He did follow everything Ted says during season 1
Just shows Jamie’s character development, incredible writing
Which is to say, incredible EVERYTHING!

when i saw ted mimicking, i got the same reaction as jamie!!!!!!!! The series came full circle and i am here for it!!!!!!! we love !!!!!!!

Nate jumping into Ted again gives me the happiest feeling
Bumbercatch's first touch was sublime
Roy hugging Nate at 4:22 is so wholesome
Ted doing the top gun call back with "talk to me geese" makes this even better
Ted mimes throwing espy away...I'm dead 💀.
I love that Trent is there for this moment because he initially mocked Ted for taking Nate’s ideas
Exactly

Genius writing & acting. Just genius 🤣
Thanks for jogging that memory!
In a series that constantly delivered ALL the feels, no line sent me chills more than “Nelson Road is in rapture!!!”

Literally everyone heard it
I didnt until it was pointed out@@RobertDoornbosF1
Sound editing is specifically intended for moments like these!

I love how the framing of the shots back home keep pushing against Dr Jacob
All weepy watching this again.
Best thing to happen in sports history, hands down
These are really good. You’re gonna be pretty big pretty quick
Thanks! I make these videos for fun because it's stuff I enjoy rewatching and I'm just happy others enjoy it as well.
3:12 they are sharing one brain cell
Hilarious and full of heart! Fuck I love this show
Full effing circle!
0:42 reaction let’s me know as an introvert if someone is legitimately a nice person.
ID LIKE THE BALL PLEASE!!!😂😂❤❤❤❤ full circle
Roy was right. It was funny
Jamie selling it overacting exactly like Ted did when they trained it the first time 😂 & adding the please
It took 33 episodes to perfectly execute the plan
I've watched the show twice and I completely missed that reference to season 1. how???? but amazing writing, love Jamie so much
Can’t believe Ted threw Nate’s Oscar over his shoulder like that, still disrespecting him
But still used his play. Ok then.
The Futbol scenes are so well filmed.
You need to do the easy lover reference
1:32 -> 3:40 🤌
I like how alien the idea of a false 9 is in the show about a premier league club
Jake was so annoying during this game lmao I was hoping that it drove Michelle to fly to England w Henry last minute to be w Ted 😭
3:40 finally a callback
Finally? The whole episode eas caplback after callback
Barbecue sauce?
Roy is hilarious
Please explain me what this 'Nate with heavy stuff' means. I just do not get it.
Espy award.
It's explained in the clip.
Did they win the leagur
Came in second. Manchester City made first cuz they earned enough points through the season
3:41
1:32
