I take my hat off to all the baba's & dido's of the world who can move to another country with nothing and turn it around into something. This is something that takes great strength and courage and something we can all learn from. Thank you. A wonderful video. It is so striking because the stories of Croatians escaping are all so similar. My father crossed the border into Italy in 1958 and my mother hopped on a small boat with a couple of brothers and a sister and sailed to Italy in the early 50s. All done in the dark of night. They met here in Australia in the early 60s ... .
My other Grandparents, who I've also filmed and am creating a video for went to Italy as well. Their story is also insane to listen to! There's so much history and stories they have that we will never have to experience in our lifetimes thanks to their bravery!

My family comes from vukovar. Really disturbing what happened there. They also had too flee. When my mum was small they drove at night with a car through a field without light, because the could've been detected by the Serbian soldiers. Also there were landmines everywhere. A miracle they did it.
They are another breed of humans. Their resilience is amazing and I don’t even think they realise how strong they really are after what they had to endure growing up and fighting for their lives. At least that’s how I feel about my grandparents.
Same story as my dads and same area in croatia. My dad left Croatia and walked to Austria same year. Can u ask your baba does she know my dad, Vlado Rendulic?
