I read the german original version and i loved it. As you said: Better than the official novels. If you want to step further into Indy fanfiction i highly sugest "Indiana Jones and the Gypsy´s kiss" and "... the secret of Nan Madol" which were also great. There is also a fan-novelization of "Fate of Atlantis" which is quite good and the fan-released novelization "Staff of kings" by Rob McGregor (which was disapointing)
If you're interested in more good Indy fanfiction books, there's the fan novelization of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis by Dale Dassel. The novelization includes a lot more from the video game that wasn't in the comic adaptation, alongside some of its own ideas, and is kinda considered an honorary 90s Indy novel, in the same vein at the prequel books from the 90s. There's also Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Golden Idol, a German fan novel by Andre Milewski, which was translated into English by Rachel Schneider, who also did a few of the English fan translations of the official German Indy novels.
