Yeah, just search TH-cam for "tohtori masked singer suomi" (where "tohtori" was the character name for Marko where the meaning of that Finnish word has meaning doctorate or doctor, and "suomi" meaning Finland in Finnish) and you'll find all the videos from the official channel that hosted the show (with some voiceover talking by the jury, mind you). The idea of the show is to sing with your own voice but masked and songs that you don't usually do. The whole album was written before Anette was selected as the new female lead vocalist, and she then recorded backings and her own vocals on other songs before it was finally mixed, mastered and released, so you caught that well. The original demo version of this had even more violent lyrics - this is the toned-down sanitised version for release! It has no live version and is vanishingly unlikely ever to. Even The Poet And The Pendulum is now off the setlist, for good according to Tuomas. This, along with Bye Bye Beautiful and TPaTP are the trio of songs dealing with Tarja's departure and are a snapshot in time. We are lucky to have live recordings of as many songs from Dark Passion Play as we do.

Great reaction as usual, though I have to disagree on the point that this is Power Metal(Iron Maiden or Unleash The Archer) and to me this is not that, but sounds more like Thrash Metal (Metallica, Megadeth or Slayer), but with orchestra & choir, which to me takes it to a whole other level.

Darkwoods My Betrothed does have three albums out already, released 1995, 1996, and 1998. Tuomas was a session keyboardist on those... the joke, now that they've gotten back together, is that the band finally decided to make Tuomas a permanent member after his 25-year probation period!

It's called "dissonance", if I remember correctly. It's basically a combination of sounds layered over one another which our brains are hardwired to hate, which is what gives them that creepy, almost scary feel. There are plenty of examples of it all over both music and film. The most classic example is probably the shower stabbing scene from the classic horror movie *Psycho.*
They left Anette (who started with this album after Tarja) out from this song cause they did not want to use her in this mocking song for Marcelo. Anette was not any reason for it what happened. Tuomas says they never do this song live or make official video. Marco can sing so much and versatile way.

This sadly is my very best favorite song (dyed in the wool old metalhead) and yes it was written when Annette was there, it was on the Master Passion Play album, but I don't think it was made for a female voice, it's only my opinion but I think this was a collaboration of feelings the boys felt and talked about after Tarja left. I mean if you think about it they were finally on a skyrocket to success and boom, tailspin and they probably didn't even know if they would continue, so I'm sure there were some heated discussions and I would further assume this was Tuomas' "brain-fart" (after all he's a writer) and he put all this down and included it in the album, but sorry to report that no there is no live performance where you can see Marko in it and there won't be as Tuomas has stated this will never be included in their setlists for live performances cause "he's not that guy anymore", and he's also pondering whether to put "Poet" in cause he says it still has an effect on him, so just have to wait and see I guess. Well, my hypothesis is that in 2005, when it all culminated, it was only 4th year of Marko being with them (and thus not being "burdened" with any sentiment the guys may have had from the band's beginnings), and, being considerably older than the rest of the guys, and having been in the music business for a decade longer than them, Marko had much more unbiased view on the situation than the rest, so he was basically their voice of reason. That is why it was originally Marko's idea that in order to be able to move on anywhere, they need to get rid of the already-toxic relationship between the guys and Tarja (and her husband-and-manager-in-one Marcelo). This is not meant to blame anyone, just to state that their mutual relationship clearly was toxic - for both sides. So, Marko came up with the solution to dismiss Tarja, and the guys agreed unanimously. Besides, Tuomas already found himself unable to write any more songs for Tarja, as he also stated in the open letter, which might be caused (or at least contributed) by Tarja's decision that "one more album with you (after Once) and I'm going solo" which she stated quite some time before, and might very well have been Marcelo's idea in the first place. And as Tarja had had practically everything her way in this last period (mode of travel, accommodation, schedules, ...), the guys might have as well thought for themselves - let's not let her have this last thing her (or, rather, Marcelo's) way. All in all, I very much doubt Marko hated Tarja (after all, he was the first one from the band to come back to friendly terms with her after many years) but he probably has seen through Marcelo much more than any of the guys, including Tarja, given his experience in music business. And what he saw, he did not state publicly - we are only able to see and analyse the resulting actions and products (like this song).
@@Beus38 Also note that the band members were all very unhappy with the situation as is obvious from the End of an Era documentary, especially comments made by some of them in South America. It is also clear from writings made afterward that Marcelo had no liking or respect for the band or its individual members, with the exception of Marko who he was more or less indifferent to.
Tuomas kept Anette out of this one on purpose. First, this had nothing to do with her. It's not like they fired Tarja to make room for Anette. But second, fans may have felt that Anette was taking sides and piling on if she was singing on this track. Anette already had a hard enough challenge in taking over for the beloved Tarja. She did not need to give fans a reason to not like her right out of the gate. He was trying to protect her.
Listen the guitar - it has VERY strong solo' riffs, but they are played btween the lyricks not on top of them. And no this is never going to be live at any stage...

I don't think Marko hated Tarja (as his subsequent performances with her seem to attest), but her husband Marcello Cabuli is another matter.
Well, my hypothesis is that in 2005, when it all culminated, it was only 4th year of Marko being with them (and thus not being "burdened" with any sentiment the guys may have had from the band's beginnings), and, being considerably older than the rest of the guys, and having been in the music business for a decade longer than them, Marko had much more unbiased view on the situation than the rest, so he was basically their voice of reason. That is why it was originally Marko's idea that in order to be able to move on anywhere, they need to get rid of the already-toxic relationship between the guys and Tarja (and her husband-and-manager-in-one Marcelo). This is not meant to blame anyone, just to state that their mutual relationship clearly was toxic - for both sides. So, Marko came up with the solution to dismiss Tarja, and the guys agreed unanimously. Besides, Tuomas already found himself unable to write any more songs for Tarja, as he also stated in the open letter, which might be caused (or at least contributed) by Tarja's decision that "one more album with you (after Once) and I'm going solo" which she stated quite some time before, and might very well have been Marcelo's idea in the first place. And as Tarja had had practically everything her way in this last period (mode of travel, accommodation, schedules, ...), the guys might have as well thought for themselves - let's not let her have this last thing her (or, rather, Marcelo's) way.
All in all, I very much doubt Marko hated Tarja (after all, he was the first one from the band to come back to friendly terms with her after many years) but he probably has seen through Marcelo much more than any of the guys, including Tarja, given his experience in music business. And what he saw, he did not state publicly - we are only able to see and analyse the resulting actions and products (like this song).
@@Beus38 Also note that the band members were all very unhappy with the situation as is obvious from the End of an Era documentary, especially comments made by some of them in South America. It is also clear from writings made afterward that Marcelo had no liking or respect for the band or its individual members, with the exception of Marko who he was more or less indifferent to.
The horns at the end always remind me of james bond soundtrack
I don't think this song was ever meant for a woman to sing. Just the boys venting their anger and frustrations over the situation.

Doubtful at this point they will ever do a live version of this. They said what they wanted to say.
Tuomas kept Anette out of this one on purpose. First, this had nothing to do with her. It's not like they fired Tarja to make room for Anette. But second, fans may have felt that Anette was taking sides and piling on if she was singing on this track. Anette already had a hard enough challenge in taking over for the beloved Tarja. She did not need to give fans a reason to not like her right out of the gate. He was trying to protect her.
