After seeing this, his version of Gethsemane, and his Music of the Night, it is obvious that Dan is a performer at heart, not simply a singer.

I hope you will consider reacting to the Gethsemane scene from Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Music of the Night. And I think you might be surprised by Dan’s baritone range. Have a look at his cover of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep, for instance. Or My Mother Told Me. Thank you!

I enjoyed your reaction. If you want to hear Dan sing in his lowest range, check out The Rains of Castamere. I have heard it many times and I'm still surprised at how low he can sing when he chooses.
I have absolutely NO DOUBT that If you reached out to DAN to collaborate on a song, he would say Yes!! As you can surmise, Dan loves to challenge himself and I remember you saying something to the effect that you'd love to sing metal.

It was great to see your analysis of Dan Vasc and this one was wonderful. Thanks so much. There are two songs I would like for you to add to your list, please. Dan's cover of I'll Make a Man Out of You from the Disney movie Mulan it one. He has some surprise cameos that you will recognize and, according to Dan, he hits his highest note at the end. The other one is a cover of Evanescence's Bring Me to Life, in which he displays his other metal skills and sings both the male and female parts. I always look forward to your reactions and will be here for them.

Thanks for your R/A on this song. I agree that Dan’s performance is often musical theatreesque. I’ve noticed the jaw movement in other songs, but never heard the term jawbrato…makes sense. Others have suggested Rains of Castamere and I second that suggestion.

Metal singer here. Two notes here. Those high notes don't have to be in falsetto. You can achieve them with curbing and guessing he's doing that here because of the intensity. The other one is what you called the jawbrado. He's is intentionally controlling the rhythm of the the vibrato which is something you can't do if you let it happen naturally. It's something you hear a lot in metal. Usually controlled with the diaphram.
Nessun Dorma shows his classical training. Bring Me to Life has his entire tool box thrown in to awesome effect! Love Dan Vasc. Thank you for the education!
That defeated feeling that you’re referring to at the end of the song is a direct reflection of the scene when this song is sung. The bard is all intense and then at the very end of the song, he just sits down fully defeated… heartbroken to some degree.

I do agree with others about the Rains of Castermere, and would also second the comment about Bring me to life. I would also suggest Blcak Wind fire and Steel, as well as Fairy Tale.

I love all the vocal techniques you discuss! I would love you to react to Dan’s “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera. It’s totally opposite of this song and, to me, his voice is absolutely stunning in it, along with the expression of his face, hands, etc. It’s another song where he becomes what he is singing and draws us all into that place with him. I hope a lot of people request “Music of the Night”.

Now you have to do Priscilla Song (metal version) and Song of the White Wolf to finish out the Witcher songs. I highly recommend Gethsemane and Make a Man Out of You for theatrical options. Also, for low tones I would recommend My Mother Told Me and Fairy Tale. For metal screams and growls I would recommend Bring Me To Life. One of my favorites is Son of Pain. Actually I could go on and on. So many incredible ones to look at. Love your Dan reactions! Can’t wait for the next one!

If you want to hear Dan's low, dark voice try his cover of Fairytale by Shaman and I recommend the original by Shaman, their lead singer Andre Matos also has an amazing voice.

Dan Vasc is from the same Brazilian state, Minas Gerais, as Gabriel Henrique. Two great vocalists with such different styles. Brazilians are lucky.

I was treated to tickets to see LA TRAVIATA at the Irodiou Attikou Roman theatre in Athens Greece. What an experience. My 1st opera. Enjoyed the deep dive before the performance too. For those who have enjoyed this experience years ago they now provide seat cushions and running subtitles in Greek and English. Can quickly glance and then follow the performance. Might be a spoiler for some, appreciated by a Newbie.
