  • Hey guys, it's time for another gut health update and this time I'm going to be trying out prebiotics to see if they can help me. Stay tuned until later in the video to see how I got on after 10 days.
As you know, my IBS is pretty stubborn and flares up despite having changed my diet a lot. I'm not an expert on prebiotics and probiotics (didn't even know the difference!) so thanks to Bimuno for pointing me in the right direction.
Here's a few links so you can check out Bimuno for yourself:

I'll check in with you guys in the next gut health update after I've taken prebiotics for 30 days to see how it goes long-term.

Hey Beccy. When I started taking probiotics it’s helped me within a week with my gut health and regular toilet visits. My dietician asked me to go off it to see what happens and it was terrible so I had to go back on them and I’m much better again. So glad it’s helping in a small way. Great to see you smile! Keep up the great videos xxx

I had ibs too. I cured myself. seemed impossible then, not anymore!
Before beginning with the solution, get some basic stool tests done (like bacterial and a general stool test), even if your doctor says it won't be necessary. If all those test results are negative, then follow these steps:
Take rifaximin 550 mg thrice daily for 14 days. Also, take multivitamins daily throughout the whole process (i took Centrum men multivitamin cuz it was more affordable for me). After fully completing rifaximin medication, take fluconazole 200mg (only on day 1 of starting fluconazole medication) and 100mg (for upcoming day 2, 3, 4.. and so on till day 28, i.e. for 4 weeks once daily). Remember to continue taking multivitamins daily. Also, you should stay on a low-fodmap diet throughout this process (i.e. avoid dairy, gluten, sugars, juices). After fully completing fluconazole medication, you need to buy prebiotic, probiotic, and enzyme tablets of good brands (ask someone or search on internet if you don't know any good brands). Take these for a month (their dosages will be written on their labels). That's it. This whole process that I've mentioned should be enough to almost completely heal your gut. If this doesn't help, even though it should, get some food allergy tests done. Also, get h. pylori. infection test done. Also, get tested for lactose intolerance. (optional) try taking 2 tbsp apple cider in half a glass of water everyday, 20 minutes before lunch and before dinner (do use a straw to drink it).
Always Remember this: Irritable bowel syndrome is just a name that doctors gave to your problem cuz they don't know what's the actual problem (that's what the term "syndrome" means!!). It's just a label that they gave to your problem cuz they don't have any freakin' idea. So you don't label yourself as having ibs, it could be anything. It could sibo, sifo, low stomach acid, intestinal worms, intestinal infection, gut dysbiosis, literally Anything!! Strangely, your doctor won't usually tell you that you may have a totally different issue (like the ones that i mentioned above) cuz they don't give a fuck. they don't bother to utilise their brain to that capacity when they can just simply label your problem and save their precious time by prescribing you some shitty antispasmodics. Some ignorant doctors say it's due to anxiety, don't trust their bullshit. Throughout the process, everyday imagine or daydream what you will do after your ibs is cured. I imagined that, on the day it gets cured, it's a sunny day and i am full of joy and I'm donating bananas to poor homeless children and telling them "my ibs got cured". It's very important that you imagine or daydream of something like this. Definitely read 'The Power of your Subconscious Mind' book throughout this gut healing process. Watch episodes of 'the Office' everyday :)
Everybody, please spread the word, to whoever you know has this problem.

Hi Becky, I'm not sure if you remember but I left a comment about my struggles with IBS-D in one of your videos last year when you went to see your GP. Just an update on the situation: I've tried the advice that your GP gave you of not forcing anything and I do think that helps a lot. I find that it helps to just let my body do its thing. Also I had a problem with having bowel movements exclusively when I went to university (which is only 3 days a week) and since then I've been exercising regularly and incorporating ground flax seeds into my diet and those two things have helped me out a lot. So I would definitely recommend exercise, and I know from your insta posts that you already use flaxseeds. I'm haven't overcome my problems completely so I was surprised that the prebiotic made you regular so quickly. I'm looking forward to your one month update. Hope it goes well❤️

Omg I have to try these, lowfodmap has helped somewhat (I am probably 50-60%) better but I still get flare ups from lowfodmap foods. I really want to try these , thanks so much for sharing!

I have gone to a naturopath for my IBS-d and she told me to take about 1/2 teaspoon ground flaxseed and a probiotic twice a day at first and then went down to once a day. She said the refridgerated ones are the best (expensive though) and I have found them to really help. She did not recommend the yogurt with probiotics because dairy is hard on the digestive system and they have a lot of sugar in them.

I also have ibs-c. I have used MIRALAX everyday for years in order to stay “regular”. I have been taking a probiotic for a few years but never noticed a difference. However I recently started taking DigestZen [2x/day) which helps digestion. I couldn’t be happier!!!! I hope you find help with the pre biotic 🤞🏻. I will def ask my GI next time I see her.

Thank you so much for this video! Since yes as you explained that we are all different and what works for some doesn't work for others. I am going to ask my Gastroenterologist in addition to my lowfodmap diet if prebiotics would work for me. If we think its a go I'm going to try these. What he determined I have is IBS-D now and have for a long time after my Infectious Colitis was cleared up with an expensive antibiotics. All I can hope for is to go uphill from there!! Xx ❤

Good luck to you, Becky. I've got down six fresh blueberries- not all together but accumulatively- and it's improving and working for me in the getting my fruit back. I'd like to try to rechallenge oranges too, strawberries are iffy for me. But, if I can eat a handful of blueberries in one sitting that'd be just fine for me. The aches aren't long winded as they once were.
I'm still on that struggle bus with the IBS-C too, I should really try Bimuno if that's been helping. I just hate that there's no cure, you would think a study could be made in someone who has it and is currently going through an episode during a check-up.

So glad it works for you I hope it's still the same at the end of two three months.for me it's sugar that upsets me and dairy so completely different to you! Might try it thou, I recently started taking vitamins and a vit d supplement so it can't hurt? I read a book called the healthy gut sort by Dr Mosely if only I could stick to the ideas in this book. My question is what time of day is it best to take prebiotics ?

im basically eating what i like but choosing options that cause less ibs symptoms. i advice you to avoid at all cost eating onion and garlic it can really mess your stomach real bad. for me onions and garlic make me queasy

Oh, and my experience with prebiotics and probiotics has been a wreck. I felt nothing at first, but then each time I took one I'd have a mild to moderate episode and just drop like a log with fatigue. I was given one with lactic or lactise, I can't remember but that seemed to be all it was about. I'm still boosting my iron to cure the anemia I've gained because of this, but so far nothing's got ingredients that I can ingest. I've improved because of steak and other foods, but the doc still wants me on a pill or liquid. I've found one called Blue Iron FE and I'm gonna try that. Wish me luck. If anyone else is taking it, how is it working for you?

and if you really wanna eat onions try to sautee them with brown sugar so it mitigates that component that makes your stomach a living nightmare

jair hugues I've never come across that tip. What does the brown sugar do? I usually avoid onions at all costs so it would be great if I could slowly start to include it back into my diet.

I have IBS-M and I have been taking probiotic for a few months now and I do feel a different. My stomach is calmer and my daily pain has gone down. The probiotics I take are with bacteria that I believe are recommended to people with IBS (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) I can't have lactose, so I bought a lactose free version. It took some research, but I found it in a local shop! I'm really happy with it and I would recommend it to everyone with IBS

hi, becky! this is really great news! i am going to look into what is avail in the u.s. i'd love to not have to take colace and senna daily as they create so much gas (if unknown names - they are stool softeners). i do take a daily probiotic and had always wondered about the difference between pre and pro. i'm hoping that trying these would actually help me get my life back, so to speak, as passing gas in public is a fear of mine so i'm not out and about as much as i would like and then the sudden attack of diarrhea from being constipated for days is a big concern. take care! ~k
