i got this a month ago, I love typing it, and working on it. I love the hdmi ports for when im ready to relax and just through on a movie. Im still a hard wired guy, I dont really use the mirroring and such on some of the programs, however its nice to pick it up and put it wherever and it doesnt hog up space. I love the backlit keyboard as well, pretty much any computer from here on out, is thats going to be a mandatory for me, I just like the way it looks and if i work at night i dont need a light or look to figure out exactly where my hands need to be. I have a mbp too, thats getting an overhaul this week, but this computer just runs smooth. I currently Manjaro on it, but I love it. My Mac is getting jealous.
My only comment in regard to this review (which is EXCELLENT BY THE WAY DAMIR!), is to remember that the Dell Latitude line has always been aimed at the "business-class" audience. Dell doesn't deliver cutting-edge display/sound components to their Latitude line because of this one reason. If demands for such components are required, check out their XPS line.
I have this laptop! Late to the party I know but I get what you mean by how good it feels, really sturdy, I'd even venture to say it feels way sturdier and solid than the macbook air. I also get the touchscreen is really bad, I turned off mine almost right away. Also gets extremely hot and whos idea was to put the fan all closed up in there?? It obviously needed another vent on the bottom and not just on the side...!!
Damir, amazing review. But quick question, between 7250 and 7450, same specs what would you choose? 8+ hours working with it every day, not sure which one to get.
I read that it has anti glare LED screen, but how does it fare for outdoor use? And how noisy is the fan? I have a Macbook Air 11 and at times, it generates noise and quite loud. Hopefully, it is not that louder than Macbook - think I can still accept it. I have reservation as the screen resolution is a bit on the lower side and I am planning to use photoshop and autocad (2D). But, I like that it is lightweight and also trying to dedicate this laptop for light programming. Any advise for me, Damir?
Hi Damir, Really quite awsome all your reviews. I'm about to purchase a Dell laptop to replace my E6410 (too heavy and out of shape, so to speak) but I'm undecided between the E7250 and the E5250 (you've reviewed also), even when my reseller offered me a better price for the former. What do you think about it? Thanks a lot.

The keyboard in Dell products is just awesome, I can't get used with other devices just because of the keys. Do you know what is the difference between the e7250 and the e7240? is there a big difference between the two?
I've borrowed a 7250 refurbished with touchscreen from a friend, and this little thing is fantastic, except for the trackpad! I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but it seems like it's not responding all the time. Is this a recurring issue? It's not the cursor, it's the double-finger scrolling function.
Great review, thanks! I just recieved one of these for work, and want to know whether or not the fancy Dell stylus should work with the screen? Any ideas?
Hi Damir.. I got a 7250 however wanted to increase my HD space.. Default is 256GB SSD, however wanted to install another 256 GB SSD.. Is there any specific SSD, as the slot is smaller than the normal.. Or should it be via an SD Card? Was not sure if there is a specific size, as for sure was not a Micro... Tks in advance.
***** Thanks.. Will check that out and well noted on the SD Card.. Was indeed a bit surprised that previous models of Dell could allow an upgrade to a higher SSD, and the 7250 does not provide one.. At least have not been able to find out much info on the web.. Will have a run with Dell also... Tks again..
Great review! I'm trying to determine if I should get the E7250 or the E7450 for university. I'm a computer science major. Do you think the 12.5" screen will be big enough for my needs?
***** Thanks for reply. I will be waiting for the review. I have looked at the E5450, but since I'm going to be carrying the laptop everyday (30 minute walk), I thought the E7450 would be better for its lower weight. Would you say that the keyboards and battery life are the same on the E5450 and E7450?
Can you please tell me if you use the Bell 7250 for Microsoft office applications such as word, excel, power point, publisher? Is it too small for these?
You probably received a bad review unit cos every other reviewer so far has praised how speedy the performance of the 7250 is and how good the touch screen is. I purchased a refurbished 7250 from Dell and am waiting to receive it on Tuesday.
+Damir Franc I received the laptop today TUESDAY 25 August and I must say I love it. it is very portable and light to move around with. I noticed the fans as you stated its always on when it is plugged in which is actually a turn off. I download the latest BIOS and drivers and everything is smooth. dell need to fix the fans always on issue. thanks by the way your review was detailed and straight forward.
+Damir Franc I have been playing with the ultrabook and the always on fan issues when charging is as a result of the useless Mcafee antivirus that came pre installed with it. I deleted that crappy antivirus and installed something else and this machine has been as quite as even when doing heavy task. At some point I thought I was running a fan less ultrabook with intel core M. Am indeed satisfied.

I have the same laptop Dell Latitude E7440 + Ubuntu 12.04.5, and there is a problem! When the laptop is cool - cooler turns right! When the laptop heats up - the cooler is spinning faster. When the laptop is running under a load of 80%, the cooler accelerates to 100%, and then, when the temperature comes vnormu, cooler still spinning at 100% speed. You do not have these problems?
***** Thanks! I just do not know what to do ... Support Dell or does not respond to this problem, although their forum a lot of people write about it. That's why I decided to ask you ... Suddenly, you are lucky and your Dell Latitude E7440 is working properly. Unfortunately my Dell Latitude E7440 noise like an airplane ...
+Владимир Петов Not sure if you fixed the fan noise issue yet or not but I found a fix that worked for my E7440. Go to Device Manager, Bluetooth adapter, Properties, power management and make sure that the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is UNCHECK. I now have it charged on AC without fan noise. Give it a try.
+Damir Franc Thank you. i was considering this too. I really like the portability. but if its louder then the E5450 and more expensive. ( i can get the E5450 brand new in box for 500 euro, and the E7250 used for 600 ) then its no use for me.
Thank you for answer. I'm not interested in the skylake series, it is more expensive and performance are similar. When I need to fit a lot of datas on-screen I use 2 additional screens anyway (I use Photoshop, OriginLab, Office Suites) so the size of the screen is not really a problem. It's more about atonomy and performance/cooling. I can't manage to find which one would give the best value for money.
Pretty nice review..I was interested in this machine with extra ram I7, 16GB and 512GB SSDrive. What did you test here? I have currently an INSPIRON 13 with I5,8GB and 512GB SATA Drive...I like the size/weight...I talked to the Dell guy and he suggested E7250...But after you review, I am concerned it wont have the performance gain I was hoping for. Thanks for your excellent videos. I will check to see if you have a review for that machine...Curious if you heard whether 2015 model solved the issues...Thanks, Paul
Great feedback about i5 vs i7. Thats what I have seen in the benchmarks. By the way, what's your feeling of a good SATA Hard drive verse SolidState HDs? I do a lot of hard computation on my laptop for R&D. Not that much writing to disk..I use about 1GRam so I think most of the stack work is in RAM rather than using HD. Thanks for the review! I have the same exact overheating issue. Mine came with i7 CPU and it reaches 104 Celsius when it gets under load. Dell replaced the motherboard, fan and heat sink and that didn't change anything so far. I'm disappointed with this. Btw, if I disable Intel turbo boost, it never reach more than 85 c, so looks like the cooling is not good in this model.
i got one about a month ago for under 200, and i love it. I like the small sleek design and all the ports for lounging when im at home, and the battery seems to last a long time if you work the battery cycles.
You did'nt mention the Pointing Stick is missing. This is a supposed to be a productivity computer : it should have a "Pointing Stick"/ "Trackpoint". too bad...
The Dell is throttling. Even though the CPU can perform higher the thermal design of the Dell is so bad its spending its life at lower frequencies which impacts performance.
***** Be careful here even though the Dell has decent components in there if the high-end components cannot perform to their full potential/near its highest speed due to bad thermal design or some other issue or you may see the problems like with your jerky touch-screen experience, poor video-editing experience and you may be falsely under the impression that it's battery life is great when really your brand-new 5th generation core i5 is performing at Pentium 3 speeds from 10 years ago. I would not want a 2.9Ghz laptop to be floating at 500Mhz even during CPU-intensive tasks like video editing. Just because it has the potential doesn't mean its doing it and that is a critical flaw.
