I agree with enchantments being the most fun, that's the part where you feel like you're really crafting something, especially when it enables a weird build or interaction. Maybe less direct enchantment choices, and a higher chance of random enchants in shops, on earlier days. Also weaker tiers of enchants that can drop earlier, so they don't break early day builds? Like lifesteal could be "heal 25%/50%/75%//100% of damage dealt." as a random example.
I totally agree with you guys saying that the enchantments are the most interesting way to change up builds and give you a direction where you are heading with it. Why not lean into that even more and give rare opportunities to add taglines to items like property or friend, or even play around with the idea of making items smaler or making them bigger with unique benefits, which kinda exists in a different way with the tiny cutlass Keep up the good work to the both of you and its really nice to see a dev work with the community and actually wanting to know their opinion
Idk if Raynad will read any if these but maybe a good solution for 2x speed is just like a self destruct button you can willingly press to forfeit that fight. That way it's all up to the player and you dont just load into a fight and know you will lose because the fast forward option is there
This is an insanely good idea. I think they could also use it to collect sentiment data on how players think/feel about facing certain builds or using certain items if they are forfeiting. And just imagine the stats collected on fights that are calculated as wins but are forfeited... Sick
the way items interact with characters in tft/auto chess makes the same build character different while the items in the bazaar feel more like backpack battles at the moment i love what you had to say here
Thanks for asking about upgrading, there was tech involved I didn't know about. It does suck that it just eats an upgrade in the shop if it's better, so I'm glad there's some changes coming
ayy adding on to the final words i found you from this vid! appreciate both u and reynoodle sitting down and yapping for us, stuff like this gives me confidence in simply just investing time and brain space into this game
Hearing that open beta is moving to February might just make me buy into the closed beta now and I don't mean that in a bad way. Been wanting to play this game since this channel was created, super excited for it to go public.
I have no regrets from buying it. Game is not perfect like mans said. I've played it so much and I look forward to playing it more, it's not stale at all to me, and there is so much more content happening soon! The friend I gave my key to bought the game the same day.
I'm on the same opinion as brotherman about more enchantments while not giving too many but in my opinion an "enchantment transfer" item like the Dooley core upgrade item (the gears looking thing don't remember the name and in my experience these are rare) would be very good since you can pivot into other builds while keeping the enchantment and not feeling forced to keep the item you already enchanted. Opinions guys?
this could be cool if you lose all prestige and get the enchantment that is bad for your build and somehow you comeback so you can adjust the enchantment to get stronger and not waste it BUT there is a huge issue with this: encounters/shops that give enchantend items imagine you get a crazy enchatment on a bad item and then you can switch it on one of your core items way too strong imo unless you make it extremely rare or something I dont really think its a good idea
Maybe the enchantments bought from shops could be made into permanent. Or even better just like how the dev said they want cards that evolve durning fight or out of combat the "enchantment transfer" would lock (meaning it will sit inside your backpack and you can't use it in combat, only sell it) the card you want to enchant for 3 days or whatever amount that is balanced so you can't just put it on your most important item since taking a main item out of your build will result in a lose. This idea makes me wonder if a lock mechanism would work with the out of combat evolving cards idea. :D
@@braciaisiostry6254 oh thats cool, you can switch the enchantment but not use it right away so it's a high risk high reward mechanic thats really cool and not broken if you cant get enchantments early and it will also force you to put enchantments on less important items so you can switch them without losing too much in later days
Much love for both of you!! Rey was my favorite hs streamer and I am sooooo happy that his idea starting with drawing cards back in the days years ago is coming to a goal now. I love playing the bazaar and I am happy to throw my money on Rey!!
The conversation at 8:00 highlighted a problem in the bazaar right now which is that the new player experience kinda sucks and it'll only get worse as the player base gets more experienced.
I think it's mostly fine because new players will always have normal mode where you'll have a sizable percentage of bots with garbage builds and other newish players. The better players probably only play ranked
With the upgrades. It would be good if that also worked for Monster encounter. Like if you have a bronze Dog you will never get the dog upgrade from Tent City Mayer because that dog is silver. But if you could make it so that it can still award you with a bronze dog to upgrade if what you have is a bronze dog. That would help a lot with getting upgrades.
Honestly if you want more "all weapon" builds, you need to add another way to get life steal other than crow's nest, a couple diamond tier skills, an item for a class that's not in the game yet, and a seemingly rare enchantment. Even if you don't NEED life steal to go all weapons, it's a big psychological thing.
yeah the other way afaik to get lifesteal outside of an enchant is also a one weapon enchant, and even enchant works on a single weapon, which means you want to build that one up. there might be a diamond monster skill that gives all weapon lifesteal and incentivises you to go kitchensink, but that's about it, and a lot of things do push you to stack a single weapon outside of crook.
I don’t agree with the thought that the “async multiplayer” stealing was bad for the bazaar. It introduced this system so that you aren’t the first person implementing this system. It makes it MUCH easier for a player to digest your game when they already know how a part of your game works. It is very likely a good thing to have a simple game introducing this mechanic so your more in-depth game can expand on other areas.
I play weapon only builds Reynad!!! Vanessa is the counter to burn and poison Dooleys. Its so fun making weird items work together. I am constantly impressed by my end game builds when they dont "make sense", but work really well.

I will say that PERSONALLY as just a casual viewer (played TFT a lil got bored, watch shurkou play BAZAR never played it) I enjoy the content from BAZAR a lot more than TFT. I don’t watch the videos from the TFT channel just cause a new set is only really exciting to watch for the first few weeks and then it gets redundant. Bazar videos are pretty diverse albeit long but they’re still cool and enjoyable to watch with a lot to just learn. So I think that there is what the watchers enjoy most just the diversity of the game
Huge respect to Reynad for this direct connection with the community. If you read this by any chance - implement a fan itemmaker (and make it easy) so you can deliver humongous amount of content.
i hope raynad reads this, even if he probably wont. This talk singlehandedly made me want to play- and excited about the bazaar. Its lucky for me that this is how i first got interested because it lets me encourage this sort of dev communication, which im a huge believer in as well.
All I think is missing is an alternative way to spend money. Near the end of half the runs it's too easy to have 50-100+ gold left over. Getting the level up Max Health per gold event feels too unpredictable to get. More events like the upgrade your offensive items, for other items would be cool. Like a event where you could pay 20 gold to add 1 haste, 1 slow or 1 second of freeze to a item would be cool.
Brotherman, the patch notes didn't tell us all other changes (notably level up poison and monster loot poison) that contributed to Pufferfish being superbroken, but it probably still had enough context, it was just tough to wrap your head around so many item changes reading the patchnotes
Topic of a comeback mechanic is interesting, sometimes you lose a monster fight and a few days and you just concede and try again. The second life isn't enough to bring you back.
his remark on advertising and the difference on promoting a competitors game for free because its better and you would rather play that, is super insightful.
The Bazaar is a great game. I play a huge array of games. More variety of itemization for each character would open up different builds. I like doing different things each game. TFT is boring. I just check the best builds and that's it. Whatever I get first is the direction I go. The bazaar just needs more.
I have to say I much prefer suffering through the first fight or the mirror shield game if it allows us to have the cinema of this big fight that they took years to make. I just wish they added a pause fight or replay fight button so we could review the skills and all the tiles and tricks the opponent had visible that won or lost them the fight.
Glad this interview and video happened. The Twitch Q&A came of as defensive and gave me a bad first impression of Reynaud. Now I see the ideas man instead and am eager for more!
I would love to see an enchantment given somewhat early like day 5 or so that has a tile requirement. Like enchant a small bronze or silver tile, medium bronze or silver tile, or large bronze, silver, or gold tile. But it won't offer radiant and warns you that if you upgrade the item, you lose this special enchantment. Make you think more critically and make harder decisions about losing a weaker tile that's enchanted or pivoting.
i hope the battlepass will be without fomo and not run out. alot new games have this not running out battle pass like marvel rivals its so much more chill
I feel like the biggest challenge in th Bazaar right now is that there isn't really anything to incentivize a loss streak. There is nothing positive around strategically playing a slower build that requires high investment later.
What if for the upgrade system, you can upgrade from bronze into the gold/diamond, but the cost is offset by the purchase price of the current version you have. So a bronze silencer straight to diamond would be 14 gold, rather than 16 gold
15:05 How about add another comeback rewards in 10 prestige, not just on 0 so it's more comfy to continue and play the game, AND you can cook crazy builds earlier. Not a cashout mechanic, but atleast you can get an enchantment as early as stage 5 (1+2+3+4= 10 damage to prestige).
I don't think getting it automatically is right, in tft you spec into "loss streak comp" and try to juice as hard as you can, without actually losing. That kinda risk-reward is the fun part imo, not just being handed too many freebies. You should have to say "okay the build is ass and this skill/item/level up reward just rolled, I think I'm gonna juice it then try to stabalise later". Like as a very rough concept, level 2/3 could always offer "gain econ when you lose pvp but lose this, when you win or don't use your full board" (last bit prevents hard sand bags).
In terms of upgrades, why not just let it be that any item can show up independent of what you already have, but when you buy a duplicate they must combine. And then the new item gets the tier that is one tier above whatever was the highest tier of the two. So if you have a bronze silencer and you roll a silver silencer, they would combine into a gold silencer. And if you had a bronze silencer and rolled a gold silencer, they would combine to be a diamond silencer.
I wanna know if there’s going to be a way to trade in all the repeat skins we’re getting? Out of 8 skins I unlocked, 6 of them were the same Pygmalien skin.😢
Each battle is 30 seconds, then sandstorm kicks in and you're dead in 10. Battle speed is perfect, the animations and music are AWESOME! Plus the voice acting is literally perfect. I quote almost every person, my favorite is Pyg. This game is not BORING 😅
Man, I feel the same about TFT, that I hate the mechanical aspect of it, and there's no time or incentive to try and read or figure out the game for yourself unless you're playing a hundred times. It's something I know I couldn't do HS-battlegrounds for, because of the APM gameplay, that's probably very fun for some, but it's too much for a newbie like me.
Giving a Option for more XP If you lost pve Fights and have less XP than expected sounds cool, but there should also be a option you get when you considerably more XP than expected. Maybe just something flat like If you are lvl x on day y give Option for something cool
Out of curiosity - is the asynchronous multiplayer such a novel idea that it counts as stealing, or was it explicitly stolen? It's quite popular in mobile grindy games, I've seen it in Gems of War or the Fire Emblem gacha one.
Nobody claimed that The Bazaar is the first asynchronous online game. We designed it as the first asynchronous drafting game. Not a single drafting game or autobattler was asynchronous before we showed that design in our devlogs. This also required reworking the win condition to a flat win amount and lives, because the usual 8 player battle royale would no longer work as a scoring system. Other indie studios cloned our design 1:1 (including the numbers at the time, 10 wins and 4 lives). When we revealed our matchmaking, almost every commenter online said it would ruin the game, make it no longer competitive, and that we were just trying to be different for the sake of being different. Now that other games cloned it, commenters claim we never invented it. People who create nothing always try to strip credit away from those who do. The goalposts move to accommodate that goal. Literally Zoo all over again but on a larger scale. It doesn't even matter if you document building everything on stream or through 6 years of youtube videos with timestamps.
@reynad27 thank you very much for a detailed response! Now I realize that games mentioned in the video were "drafting games", which is a meaningful distinction in this case. I did not follow Bazaar development at all, but was a big fan of the idea of Backpack Battles and SAP, so this video was my first exposure to the fact that these ideas were actually taken from Bazaar's designs.
I sorta of understand when he's talking about matchmaking, obviously you should always play against people on the same day but I reckon they could tighten it a bit to try to match you with people with similar win and prestige life so it's a little more fair for everyone especially when some people high roll and makes the 10 piece a walk in the park.
i think skipping a fight would be fine if you lost the fight you skipped, because like you said i only really wanna skip a fight if i know 100% im going to lose and the fight is just being drawn out

Wow this bromance is so cute wtf
I sorta of understand when he's talking about matchmaking, obviously you should always play against people on the same day but I reckon they could tighten it a bit to try to match you with people with similar win and prestige life so it's a little more fair for everyone especially when some people high roll and makes the 10 piece a walk in the park.
Peak!🔥
interesting it sounds like he wants us to upgrade items now where as in the last q&a he said he doesnt want us to upgrade items.
I think he didnt want upgrades to be too important but it still should be possible even if its bronze and youre into lategame
Awesome

It says "Hearthstone" in the description lol
That's autogenerated by TH-cam from the description
i think skipping a fight would be fine if you lost the fight you skipped, because like you said i only really wanna skip a fight if i know 100% im going to lose and the fight is just being drawn out
