  • This is part 1/3 of my Lisbon series from when I spent a month solo travelling in Lisbon, Portugal last fall. In this video, I introduce the city and also show you some of the different food that I tried. I probably butchered some of the names. If any of the information I presented is incorrect please leave a comment, I'd love to know. :)

As a Portuguese currently abroad in Sydney, your video made me incredibly homesick. Love the style and narration, very meditative!

Finally, a travel vlog that has so much substance (ie, REAL content)! I love yoir style--unpretentious, straightforward, and honest, but artistic and creative and articulately narrated. I'm going to Lisbon in April and May, and I am so glad I found your video. It will be a great travel guide! Thank you, and please keep the videos coming! More power to your vlog!

What a wonderfully engaging video. Beautifully shot, edited and narrated. You truly brought Lisbon to life! It has long been on our list of places to visit and your video certainly helps to move it up the timeline :)

This was so well done!! You’re the first person I’ve seen mention the bookstore and I’m so glad as I’ll definitely have to look for it. I’m probably as excited about that as the other sights. 😂

Hi, This was the second time I watched this wonderful video. Can you please tell me which of the free walking tours you took when you first arrived? Some of them boast NOT seeing the main attractions, but that seems weird. I’m on countdown to my visit, so if you could respond, I’ll have time to book my reservation. Thanks again for your wonderful presentation!

Daphne, I am asking you these questions because you are …the best! Do you ever get nervous as a solo traveler? I don’t mean in terms, of safety, but just…trip anxiety? I definitely have that as I am counting down to 7/15. Turns out, most things are closed on Mondays in Lisbon, so I am trying to create a little starter itinerary for some open sites. I am sure to be staggering around with jet lag. Plus, my hotel offers, the most incredible looking breakfast I have ever seen, so I am not going to be beating the crowds to get anywhere! I’ll do the pickpocket-ridden 28 Tram late in the day, etc. Okay, here is my question…Can you recommend a free/easy itinerary app with maps and directions? Do you have Google Maps talking to you, and telling you when to turn right and left? Feel free to do an entire video on this in your spare time! Also, when you do your own trips, do you pretty much have where you want to go/see/eat and how to get there in advance? It seems like I’d be wasting tons of time f I didn’t. Also, did you go to Porto? Truly, you are, by far, the best at making these videos, and I’m not just saying that because I am desperate for your expert advice. I was last in Europe in….2005, and I’m going on 63 years old. So, ancient and out of practice! THANK YOU!

There's definitely always some general trip anxiety! I don't have an itinerary app but I can recommend downloading an offline map on Google Maps and just saving all the locations you are planning to go to. That should help you get around. I don't have every single thing planned out because I like to leave room for error or for other surprises that I might not have known about! And I don't like to rush :) I did not go to Porto this time, unfortunately.
Thank you for watching my videos, enjoy your trip!! It'll be wonderful :)

I’m not certain but I’m sure there is! You can probably find this info online :)
