- Bikepacking with my Brompton for the first time in Pulau Ubin. I knew the weather is going to be bad in the afternoon so I was mentally prepared for a very wet day.
The DD 3x3 Tarp hled up very well and big enough to accommodate my Ionosphere mesh net, my bike and me.

So Beautiful! Camping...!!!!
Congratulations on the video, experience and peace, delivered in your video.
Thank you very much
This video is beautiful.
From everyone who gets it, thank you.
Thanks very much
Thank you very much for this trip!
I like your bike packing set up👍
Thank you !
Love the video style, no talking, calming music. Very pleasant viewing experience. Keep it up!
Thanks very much Jeffrey
Masterpiece!
The only way to go. Living at its best. Nice video
Thank you 🙏
Beautiful and peaceful. 👍
Excellent video and very nice Brompton
Thank you 🙏
So beautiful! Camping w/ Brompton in a rainstorm= Heaven!
Thanks 🙏
Absolutely loved this video. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us.
Thank you sir for your gracious comment 🙏
Best video so far for me..i think the rain just mke the whole experience so much better....bt the matchstick part is hilarious.simple stubborn to the max..haha...
Appreciate very much your words. I cannot lie that the experience in the rain was comfortable but I am happy that viewers find it enjoyable to watch and listen to the rain. I didn’t want to edit out the match stick part as it was real. The windproof matches from Sweden was a failure. 😅
@@donaldpang hahaha..maybe jet lag ba..lol...bt it was a really good video..thanks SIR..👍🏽
Hello, I congratulate you for the Excellent video with beautiful images and relaxing music, I already subscribed to your channel, thank you for sharing your travels and such beautiful moments, greetings 😊
Thank you Muthu. Your comment meant a lot to me. Cheers
Nice x 2
This is so marvelous. I have really enjoyed the video.
Thank you 🙏
Great content. I am glad I found your channel.
Thanks very much. Love your channel too. Take care while enjoying the great outdoors.
Love rainy day vids. So peaceful and tranquil.
Absolutely , thanks mate
Nicely done. Love the little Dietz lantern. I’ve had mine a long time. I burn citronella fuel on buggy nights. Cheers from Chicago!
Thanks my friend. I didn’t know you can burn citronella fuel but that would be very useful in dealing with the bugs. Is there another term for the citronella fuel? Or oil?
@@donaldpang Yes the oil. There are many available. Also the Thermacell MR300 hand held work surprisingly well. Mosquito coils like in your video remind me of camp trips with my family, when I was a kid. ☺️
@@kgilliagorilla2761 thanks for the advice. Good to know that
Really tranquil, amazing how you packed all that kit down so small. Thanks
Thanks for watching. It’s just an overnighter and not winter weather here so my gears are quite simple and my backpack and the front rack are able to carry what I needed to enjoy one night in the nature cheers
Oh my goodness, what is that gorgeous little pot called please, Cheers from am Aussie Brompton owner 🌅
Thanks very much Julie. It’s a Snowpeak Micro Pot. Keep safe down under 😁
Nice video
Try placing the Trangia cap/lid under the burner when using the Firebox mini stove. This will keep the burner from overheating and consuming too much fuel
Hi thanks for the tip 👍🏼
2 questions, and one statement.
Absolutely love the content you’re putting out!
1. Would you ever consider doing bikepacking tours/group rides?
2. Would you consider doing a run through around your thought process in terms of gear selection and compatibility with the Brompton?
Thanks!
Thanks mate for your kind words.
1. Bikepacking is something quite new to me and in view of the current pandamic situation, this can only be done localy util the borders open. Nevertheless, there are plans in the pipeline though.
2. Would love to do that one day, shall see
@@donaldpang if you ever do local Singaporean tours/experiences, I for one would be happy to join in. I got into the whole Brompton life during circuit breaker and my hope is to eventually go touring overseas with my Brompton once airlinks open up. Bikepacking in singapore is a good training ground for this.
🚲💨💫
I have a folding bicycle and camping equipment, but I am afraid of ghosts. Envy your guts😅
I am more afraid of the hungry wildboars LOL Thanks for watching!
Nice 😊🙏
👌
Great video . Would be great if you include setting up the tent probably in hypelapse. I’m thinking maybe can strap your backpack to the rear rack. Nice touch to the area cleaning
Great suggestion mate. Yes it was strapped to the rear rack initially. Thanks for watching and your comments. Cheers
That is a real vibe man, absolutely love it and that inspired me to do it soon,
I want to ask you, what do you bring with for self defense , maybe from wild life or something?
Ans second, how did you sleep with the tent open ?what if some dangerous living comes in and hurts you while asleep, did you think about that sir ?
Thanks for the beautiful vibes 🍂
Nice ! 👍🏻
What is that windscreen you're using for your Trangia? It looks like something that's very packable and usable with different sized pots. Have you had any success with it in windy conditions?
Hi that’s a Firebox Nano stove. It packs small and is multiple fuels purpose. I can use it with alcohol stove or woods and even gas stove with adaptor.
👍👍👍
this is a gear overload, but nice stuff :)
What is the Food Package that you are eating at 5:26 ? It looks like corn.
It’s Swedish creamy meatball
That bowl of food had about 3 mouthfuls in ????
Nice camping set-up worked well in heavy rain. I ended up under a picnic table one in similar conditions. Wondered why not load daypack on front rack unless its too heavy?
😆 every experience outdoors is an adventure, picnic table is a good shelter too. The front rack has a load limit of 7kg only so I didn’t want to risk it. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Hi, great video. Can i ask where you managed to get the liquid fuel for your camping stove? I have wanted to buy one of these but dunno where i can get the fuel. Can advise? Thanks in advance.
Hi thanks for watching. It’s alcohol fuel you can get it from any hardware store. I bought a tin online from www.former.com.SG Let me know if you need further help. Cheers
@@donaldpang thanks. Will check it out
@@donaldpang hi donald, sorry for reaching out to u again. The website is not valid so thot if it coukd be a typo. Also, can i ask where is a good place to buy backpacks and camping knives (those that can chop woods type) and saws? Saw those u using and they look quite cool. Are those pricey?
@@TTtakestime Terribly sorry about the typo. the correct URL is www.horme.com.sg. I got my camping gears from different sources both online and offline. For a start you can consider checking out on Nalno www.nalno.com where they offer most camping gears including saw, axe and knives. They have a store at Beach Road Army supplies market but they do delivery too. Hope this helps. Let me know again if you have questions
@@donaldpang thanks for the tip.
Cooll
Thanks 🙏
I think I love you ❤️
God bless you sister
Could you share what is the packet food you were eating? Looks filling and easy to prepare for camping trips
It is Bla Band Outdoor Meal Ready to Eat, Swedish Meatball with creamy potatoes
Nice, looks tasty!😋
cool video. may I ask what fuel you are using and where can it be bought?
Hi thanks very much. I was using alcohol and bought online from Horme website if I spell correctly
What are you using for a lid lifter for the micro pot? I've been using a pair of small Vice Grips but that won't work for the oval shapes that I am thinking of getting if I can find them cheap...
Hi Austin, There are three ways to lift the pot lid. 1. A Snow Peak cast iron pod lid lifter which you can find in Amazon, 2. camp fire gloves, 3. Tent stakes . In this trip, I used two tent stakes to lift the lid as the micro pot is not big and heavy. This is also the cheapest approach but you need to have steady hands. Hope this helps
@@donaldpang tent stakes is an interesting idea... The official lid lifter is cool, but too specialized to spend that much money on. Thanks!
@@austinbaldwin1342 Agree.
Fantastic video 👍 what table are you using 🤔 keep the videos coming
Thanks Craig. It’s Cascade Wild brand of foldable table. Ultralight and foldable. Appreciate it.
@@donaldpang thanks mate 👍 love the coffee cup and is that a cast iron black pot ?
@@craiglouw4057 yes that’s a cast iron micro pot 🙏
Hi bro, nice backpack, possible to share the brand? TIA!
Thanks Bro, this is Fjallraven Singi 28 with additional side pouches on both sides and the gear pouch on the front of the pack. Thanks
@@donaldpang Cool, will check it out, thanks again! Hope 1 day we can ride together or have a outdoor coffee together 1 day! :)
@@ksaik Sure and ride safe bro!
I have the same bike. And the same hat! Yay! But not the same youthful resolve. Never mind. (Used to).
Wow high-5! 😁 youthfulness is a state of the mind and soul. There are many “old” youth around 😂 enjoy your riding and stay safe. Thanks for your comment and watching cheers
@@donaldpang Thank you for your good wishes on what is my 75th birthday, today.
Please accept my Best Wishes in return.
@@effyleven wow wishing you a happy and blessed birthday my friend. Stay young at heart and healthy!
Well worked video, nicely taken! I'm curious how do you maintain your Brompton? In in the video it seems you left it wet and muddy, are you not afraid the rust will come?
Thanks Alan. Brompton is a steel frame bike so it is prone to rusting. I will wash and dry and lube, spray anti rust after I got home. I am one who is not good in pampering my gears, to me experience and enjoyment is more important. Cheers.
How did you managed to survive the night with the endless swarm of mosquitoes with an open tent?? :D Anyway, well done. Nice video. :)
Thanks mate. I have a mesh net tent under the tarp if you watch closely 😅
@@donaldpang Oh, didn't notice. That's good. :D
Nice videography. I loved hearing the sound of the rain pattering on your tent covering.
Thanks Stephen, it is indeed soothing and therapeutic . Cheers
An Apple watch that lasts only 18 hrs for outdoor living? Seriously? Nice video though.
Less than 12 hours actually. Thanks for watching
@@donaldpang can turn off always on display when doing trips like this to maximise time between charge.
I love your little pot. Is that a clay pot?:)
Hi it is a cast iron micro pot. Thanks
Can we still travel like this? while we still have medical tyranny ruling over every aspects of our personal freedoms.
We can only do this locally and even with some restrictions. Hope for better days. Cheers
@@donaldpang I would say your way of living and being free like the way you are, is coming to an end myfriend. I hope I am just being pessimistic I really do.
